Switching voice profiles according to your mood
Mark
Does anyone have experiences with changing JAWS voices or voice profile according to your mood? For example, reading in the evening it might be nicer to have an evening voice profile with softer tones and slower speed. I imagine the same could apply between switching things up to read a poem versus a work email. Perhaps it also requires having a custom Speech and Sound Scheme for each mood too. I'm not sure how best to approach that, or even if others have been down this same road. It would be ideal to switch things for moods with only a couple of keyboard commands.

Unfortunately, it is something you have to pay for, but you get every Vocalizer voice for a one off payment, both compact and Embedded Pro.

Getting the PC cursor to repeat what it just said
Mark
Is there a keyboard command to have the PC Cursor repeat itself? With the Virtual PC cursor, there are reading commands that repeat the same line or word, like JAWS + H. But sometimes I don't quite hear what the PC cursors is saying, like when describing an interface element, like a combo box. My only strategy at this point is to tab away and then tab back. But it feels like there should be a single command to repeat what was said.

most common issue that I've had, is sometimes, it will not allow me to Alt tab through my open windows. It will act as if there are no open tabs. This has happened several times, when I have had at least four different Windows open at once. If I minimize to the desktop, and give it some time, I am able to resume using the ALT tab as I normally would. I figured this is typical Beta tpe behavior. It seems to work well otherwise.

If you know that you have certain abbreviations that the synth is expanding, then have the screen reader capture those and substitute what it is you want to hear. I had to set up JAWS (and I can't remember the synth at the moment) to substitute "Cup" for "cup" when I was working with recipes because when it saw a digit or string of digits followed by cup it would say "cuban pesos." This wasn't JAWS, it was the synth. And for some reason the word cup with a capital C always came out as the word cup. If you want, say, the abbreviation for boulevard to be said as B L V D then add an entry for the abbreviation and substitute B L V D for it. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

The fact is that these modern, human-sounding synthesizers are absolutely notorious for doing this. To me it's maddening as I don't want my reader, human or synthetic, to substitute what's on the screen for what it thinks are the correct replacements based on commonly used abbreviations.
