Yes, if you are running Windows 10.

You also need to have installed the latest version and build of JAWS.

Hi, Everyone.
I'm using JFW2018 with Win10 build 1903. Is there a tutorial for the Microsoft Edge browser?

I'd like to use Firefox, but it keeps squawking at me to update my screenreading software.

Thanks,

moderated Strange Excel Issue Regarding Date formatting

Tom Behler

Hello, everyone.

I am working on an Excel spreadsheet report for an organization, and have encountered a very strange problem.

Typically, when I enter a date into the first column of a given row, I put 7/08/2020 as an example.  Jaws reads this correctly, and life is good.

However, this evening, for some reason, when I enter 7/08/2020, the column entry reads 8Jul.

I have no idea why this is happening, or what I might have done to change the date formatting.

Any help to get things back to normal here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

All that does is discourage future contributions, possibly from that person or from others who might have thought of answering a question.

I’m curious why the option to have jaws not cutoff words, is only available when audio ducking is disabled.

Hi, Jessica. The reason the new setting in JAWS to keep sound cards awake is not enabled while Audio Ducking is enabled is because, while audio is being
ducked, another application is running which uses the sound card. If another application is using the sound card, that application will usually keep the
sound card awake, independently of JAWS.

New Option to Keep Wireless Speakers and Sound Cards from Clipping Speech
When JAWS or Fusion Begins Speaking
Many modern Bluetooth headphones and speakers as well as some onboard sound
cards shut down when no audio is received in order to conserve battery. JAWS
now includes a new option, which when enabled, keeps these devices awake by
constantly playing silence. You will not hear anything, but your device will
remain active, resulting in more consistent speech. To enable this feature,
open Settings Center (INSERT+6) on the number row, press CTRL+SHIFT+D to
load
the default settings, and search for "Avoid speech cut off when using
Bluetooth headphones or some sound cards."

Note: The battery of your headphones/speakers could drain faster if you
choose to turn on this feature. This option is also not available if the
Audio
Ducking feature is enabled which lowers the audio volume of programs while
JAWS speaks.

Hi:

I’m using the latest version of outlook.

And the commands are:

Alt o give you the folder ribbon. You can cursor down and left and right to get to the item you want or

Alt o then d f is for delete folder

Alt o then m f for move folder

Note if you create folders unless you change the setting they will be created inside the folder that you happen to be in at the time of the command.

Have a good day.

Go to the end of the area you want to copy, or to the beginning if you started at the end.

Press insert+space, then m.

Then, press control+c.

Go where you want to paste and hit control+v.

Yes, here as well.  I think it came with a new version of firefox.  It has something to do with Jaws, I suspect because on one page where I can make it happen, it doesn't crash with nvda.

If anyone wants to have a crash with latest version of firefox go to www.cvstats.net and hit enter on country stats.  Firefox will crash immediately.
