Re: windows 10 backup

I have no idea as to the accessibility of the FreeNAS software. I am also going to be in the market for a small business class NAS soon, but will most likely focus on Synology because this company has made their Diskstation user interface accessible, you can read more about this in an article on Jonathan Mosen's website.

Jonas,

Are you asking if Randy got a "free NAS"? Maybe you already know this, but checking out "FreeNAS" on Google told me that it was simply the name of an open source software for running NAS units, here is what it says on Wikipedia:

FreeNAS is a free and open-source network-attached storage (NAS) software based on FreeBSD and the OpenZFS file system. It is licensed under the terms of the BSD License and runs on commodity x86-64 hardware.
FreeNAS supports Windows , OS X and Unix clients and various virtualization hosts such as XenServer and VMware using the SMB , AFP , NFS , iSCSI , SSH , rsync and FTP/TFTP protocols.
Advanced FreeNAS features include full-disk encryption and a plug-in architecture for third-party software.

I keep all my important stuff on a separate hard drive in my system and copy the whole drive once in a while. My really important data goes on the cloud. Dropbox, Google drive and One drive.
Here is how I do it.
On the second hard drive (Mine is Media)create the folders you want to move. I.E. Favorites, Documents, Downloads, Pictures and videos.
Now go to c:\users\your user name\
highlight the Favorites folder then alt +enter. Now ctrl + tab to the
location tab. Then tab twice to move folder. press it. Now shift tab once. press t for this PC press enter then press m for media (yours may be different) press enter then f for favorites. Now tab to select folder and press it. Tab to OK then press yes to move the folder to the new location.
Repeat for the rest of the folders. Now Windows will put everything in these folders from now on and the library links will go to these folders from now on.
If you use thunderbird copy the thunderbird folders from c:\users\your user name\app data\local and roaming.
Now if the main drive fails or you need to do a clean install. Just
copy the Thunderbird folders back to appdata local and roaming and all your info is there just move the folders to the Media drive again and it is like it was before the crash.
You will still need to install apps and setup your accounts. But with
Windows 10 that is fairly easy. Not like win 7. One of the few things
that is really better. :)

Re: Jaws 18 + Adobe Acrobat DC Pro

Try to leave editing mode after typing in your changed numbers and then do a screen refresh with Jaws Key+Escape. On my bank app this sometimes happens but either going out of the editing field and then checking it or doing a screen refresh usually takes care of this.

Hi there! As far as web browsers go, it really depends on what you're
trying to do. Some things still work better with IE than they do other
browsers. Conversely, some applications are better when using Firefox or
Google Chrome. I'm a big fan of Chrome, because of its speed. I find that
it crashes way less then IE does. Insert plus F7 works in all browsers,
along with the other JAWS hot keys that are used for web-site navigation.

Hi there everyone. My name is Owais and I'm new to this list have some
questions regarding the topics mentioned in the Subject Line. I don't have
Jaws but will be getting it quite soon. Last time I tried Jaws with Internet
Explorer I loved it. Never have tried it with Firefox or Chrome. My prefered
Browser that I've used the most is Chrome. What's the level of accessibility
Jaws has with Chrome? When I tried Jaws with Internet Explorer I found that
there's a Keystroke which is Insert+F7 to bring up the list of links. Is
this shortcut for Ie only or is it for other Browsers as well? Lastly I
heard that in Jaws 18 Freedom Scientific added a new Vocalizer. I heard it
has a lot of Apple Voices. If that's true does it have Alex from iOs. I kind
of found Microsoft David similar to Alex but it's quite laggy is what I
find.
Sincerely,
Owais

Hi Ron and Ed,

Thank you both very much for your suggestions. I looked at Zoom and it doesn't seem to be exactly what I need. It seems it is for recording meetings. I'm not needing to record meetings, at this point, just the video of the screen I am viewing, plus audio of Jaws. Additionally, I need to be able to record myself talking, so I may talk about bugs, on the page. However, I will definitely keep it in mind, if I ever need to record meetings, it may be a great solution. And Ron, I have not taken a look at Debut as of yet, but I will do so now. Thank you so much!
Natalia

Hi,

No, Alex is not a Vocalizer voice, it's an Apple voice, so you won't see it

I kind
of found Microsoft David similar to Alex but it's quite laggy is what I
find.
Sincerely,

I am running into more and more captpcha codes that dont actually play the audio. The only help I have found is "make sure your audio is turned up and not muted".

Any one else having his issue?

It may not work for everyone but when everything you hold dear is on a backup and it just wont work for whatever reason all your docs, music and pictures are lost forever. only took a couple of these situations to find something foolproof... Keep in mind this was before large amounts of cheap cloud storage was available.
thats how I ended up with a complete copy of every thing on a FreeNas server with a RAID 5 array. A second complete copy on a network drive and yet another on a USB drive and... Yep one more on my computer in addition to the media drive that is in daily use. Losing several years of the family photos wont ever happen again.

It works perfectly fine for me in Jaws 18 both using Windows 7 and Windows 10 with Outlook 2016 via Office 365 download.
Make sure you don't have an update window hiding this, this has happened before and there is no way at all for Jaws to access this window, you really would need a sighted person taking a look.

Hi,

I have found that the best way for me to get the information you are asking for is to highlight the folder you want and then use the touch cursor to read the information.

First, start the touch cursor by pressing shift plus the numpad plus key.
Go to the bottom of the screen by pressing control plus end.
Now, use your left arrow and move back until you read all of the information you want.  You may need to move as much as four or five times to get all information.
When finished, press the numpad plus twice (quickly) to get back to standard mode.

Just adding a bit to the subject line so that those of us who do not use Thunderbird can just delete these rather than having to go in and figure out to what it applies and does not apply.

I repeat, pressing insert plus num pad 3 reads number of messages in
folders, but only in 2018 version of JAWS.  They broke it in JAWS 18 and
somewhere along the way before.

Press the Insert Key on the Num Lock and the Page Down or 3 on the

the issue. I was really glad.

Hi,

I have found that the best way for me to get the information you are
asking for is to highlight the folder you want and then use the touch
cursor to read the information.

First, start the touch cursor by pressing shift plus the numpad plus
key.
Go to the bottom of the screen by pressing control plus end.
Now, use your left arrow and move back until you read all of the
information you want.  You may need to move as much as four or five
times to get all information.
When finished, press the numpad plus twice (quickly) to get back to
standard mode.

Carol
