In IE a sighted person couldn't get it to rewind at all. But they could in Chrome. I will be contacting Netflix to see what they say.
So if I got distracted and missed most of a show and come back later to try again how do I get it to start from the beginning? Even my sighted helper couldn't see a way to start over. Just resume from last location.

you could check in windows update in optional updates to see if maybe there are audio and video updates to be installed. this could be the problem.
maybe doing a jaws repair would help.
for me the only place jaws 17 and 18 has crashed is with firefox when i open the bookmark list.
even here, if i turn the virtual pc cursor off before i open the bookmark list it will not crash here either.
it does this with window eyes too, but not with n v d a

It depends on a lot more than the internet speed.
First of all, it helps if you tell us your version of Windows, version of Jaws and which browser you are using e.g. IE, Firefox, Chrome.
If you are on Jaws 18 or even 17 and are using Internet Explorer you might want to consider downloading Google Chrome, it is a much faster browser, but it will not work with Jaws 16 as far as I can tell.
There is little you can do if Jaws wants to crash for whatever reason, it just does from time to time, but it shouldn't happen 10 times a day, if it does then something else might be wrong with your particular configuration.

with web pages there isn't much you can do.
some sites load fast, some may not load at all if there server is down.
you can wait to see if it will load or try pressing f5 to reload the page.
it also depends on your internet down load speed you are useing.

Hi good people:
I am Ibrahim Ajayi from Nigeria. I am a new member of the group, as I joined a few minutes ago.
I have a question for the group.
Please, how can I stop my JFW from crashing? My screenreader crashes from time to time on some websites, and I don't understand why. Added to this, it takes a long time for JAWS to start reading on some websites.
Can anything be done about this?
Hope to read from you chaps.

reading andwriting email messages

Carol Smith

Hi,

I have an issue with email that occurs when trying to reply to messages. All starts out just fine. When I want to skip a line and press enter twice, I get the tones which indicate that I am shifting from standard writing screen to virtual cursor screen. This does not always happen, but at least a few times each time I run Jaws. I have now figured out that I can stop this from happening, but I still need to fix it when I get back to standard email reading. If I press insert-z when my message I am writing has flipped to virtual mode, all is OK again. This makes it possible to finish my email. When done, I must press insert-z again to read the next email. This does not happen every time I reply to messages. There does not seem to be a real pattern except that pressing enter to double-space will often switch from one to the other mode. I can press enter extra times, but this makes it confusing as to which mode is active and also makes it difficult to find out how many blank lines I have left.

I just pressed enter twice in this message and had no problem, although, I did play with the key command during the typing of this message to see what the name of the feature is.

Carol

Hey Shannon.

I think it's announcing the type of link you're pointing to. "Send Mail Link". JAWS 10 does that in Outlook 2003, on Mozilla Firefox, and even in Internet Explorer. As for how to make it stop, you could go to the Configuration Manager (Settings Center in JAWS 18), and click on HTML options. I think there might be something in there that lets you turn the "Link Type" announcement on or off.

Good morning,

As the subject line states, why is Jaws 18 saying “send mail” when reading a line that contains an email address when using the arrow keys up and down in outlook 2010?

That text is not truly written in the line of text. If you read that same line word by word those words are not there.

Why is it saying it? How can I make it stop.

I don’t want to hear things that are not there.

I often find Jaws telling me false things and leaving things out that are there, especially with the OCR, so I don’t want it to intentionally tell me wrong things. It won’t tell me things that I know are there either. I find this frustrating.
