OK, that sounds about right. Now I just need to know what the command is in order to make it listen to me. I'll be setting up the machine later on today. Has the computer checked out well and was upgraded to windows 10

Press the JAWS key—the insert key on the numberpad—key 0/the long horizontal one at the bottom of the pad—and the letter w. Again that’s JAWS and the letter w while in Word. Hope this helps. If you’re using a laptop, I’d think the caps lock key and w would

While in Google Chrome open the Settings
Center using the, Insert + 6, keystroke.
In the search field type, blank, and wait for
the list to populate.
You should get 3 results and the first and
third are probably the settings you're interested in changing.

Has anyone noticed with the new version that when in Google Chrome and navigating a web page with the down arrow, JAWS seems to skip over bland lines and not say anything automatically?

JAWS and Amazon Music Library
Rick Miller
Dear listers:
Downloading music from Amazon used to be real easy—I’d just go to my music library, find the song I had bought, and then there would be a link to download it. Now that has all changed. After I buy a track I cannot get to my music library, and there is no link to directly download. Have any of you out there been able to solve this problem?

Re: How Many of you out there have used Google Calendar?
Rick Miller
Dear Brian:
I am very comfortable with Outlook calendar—in fact, much more so than with Google Calendar. The Google calendar I am using is my own, and I am trying to use it from the web. Every time I open up my browser, which is Chrome, I hit Alt+L, and when the addressbar pops up I enter calendar.google.com and hit the Enter key, and the calendar comes up with no trouble. I have learned how to create an event, but it is just the notifications I am concerned about. When I get into the Settings menu and go down to where the notification settings are I hit the Enter key, and when the combo box comes up I see there are alert notifications and desktop notifications, but when I up-arrow from where it indicates there are desktop notifications instead of hearing the word “E-mail,” I hear the word “off.” I don’t know why this is so, and when I try to turn notifications on nothing seems to be working, so I have for the moment just gone back to using Outlook calendar which I am more comfortable and familiar with. If you can receive e-mail Google calendar notifications I do not know how to access them. But in answer to your questions, I am very familiar with Outlook calendar and I am trying to use Google calendar from the web. I am using the latest JAWS beta version and Windows 10.

Hi, Kevin.
MS Word actually has a number of features to protect you from various threats that are spread via Word files. One of these features (opens in a new tab) in the read-only mode so it can’t affect your computer negatively. This may be the reason why your documents always open in the read-only mode. Turning this option off should fix the issue for you. list of 2 items
1. Open MS Word on your computer. 2. Click on the Options option at the lower-left corner and it’ll open the settings menu. 3. Click on the General tab in the left sidebar if you aren’t already there. Then on the right-hand side menu, scroll down and find the option that says Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view. 4. Uncheck the box for the option and click on OK to save the changes. 5. The Word files you’ve received as email attachments should now open in regular mode letting you edit them however you want.

Re: Turned off protected mode
Adjusting Protected View Settings in MS-Office Programs (MS-Word Format)
I am the contrarian who turns off all protection for a number of reasons: 1. The use of Office documents to spread malicious code became quite ineffective, and as a result, infrequently used, some years ago. 2. Security suites that do "on download" scanning have recognized malicious macros for years now. and, most importantly 3. I never, ever download and open any Office document from any untrusted source. #3 is absolutely the very, very best way to protect yourself. If you are downloading and opening files only from sources that you strongly believe can be trusted, the probability of any infection via Office documents is just incredibly low. I haven't hit the "read only" problem yet, and if I do I will find out how to turn that off, too. If I've downloaded a document, I already have every confidence that it's safe before it ever sees the proverbial light of day in the Office program that's supposed to open it, and I want it to open with the same permissions and behavior as though I were its author. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

If you have the Public Beta of JAWS 2021 installed it should alter you when the next update or final release is available for download.
If you are still running JAWS 2020 and have the last/latest build installed, it will also alert you that a new version is available for download.
Now, this will all be dependent on whether you are eligible for the final release of JAWS 2021 when it is released.
You can also be watching this list as members will post when it is available for download.

Text analyzer is also a way to read through documents and hear everything.
Use it by hitting insert spacebar a.
A quick way of doing it is to use alt windows I.
I'm not sure which way is better of the two. Another trick I used is to stop, and edit the paper when I had a writers block, or when I needed a break from writing it.
Like for example, I would just write a few paragraphs or a page or two, then when I got tired of writing, I would edit it so I didn't have so much editing to do in the end of the paper.
You can also copy and paste formatting when you have similar section of a document that need to be formatted the same.
Thanks,
Justin

I think what you want to change is your Speech and Sounds scheme. Which one you want to use, I don't know but, it's a pretty easy task to switch schemes, steps below. While in Word press, Insert, Alt + S, to open a list of schemes but, make note of which one that's highlighted so you can go back to it if you need to.
Arrow up and down and pick one you want to try and press enter. Sometimes turning off Jaws and restarting is necessary to make the change take affect.
There are several schemes to pick from but, it shouldn't take very long to experiment with them to get an idea what they're all about just for future reference. These schemes are availble for all programs if you ever feel the need to experiment with another program.

Hello, If you hold down the insert key and then press f1 twice, JAWS should bring up its documentaation for the current application. Also, JAWS does have a tool that looks for font changes extra spaces and afew other things. I can't remember the exact tool name but I believe it can be enabled with INSERT space followed by a. HTH!
