It crashed occasionally before 78.0.1 but it was a tolerable level of wankiness. This update is definitely unveiling something nasty. Mozilla apparently had a twitter back and forth trying to reproduce this bug and it was a tricky one to both find and solve. I guess we wait for next update, which with FF…should be soon.

At the risk of running a huge struggle to continue using outdated software, I would like to know if anybody has any ideas of configuration settings that might make Firefox less crashy using this screen-reader. I know its’ an issue between interaction with JAWS and firefox and, frankly, always has been since the advent of Quantum. I tested this with nVDA (2019.3 and 2020.1) and it’s a lot less crashy. In fact I have failed to make Firefox crash even once using this other screen-reader. I know some users of JAWS 2020 have reported crashes, too, but I’m unable to test that currently and at a guess, newer versions of JFW should probably work better as well as NVDA. Anyway, since I’m not looking to downgrade firefox and not quite ready to either upgrade or give up JFW for the web browsing experience, in part because it works so nicely with my Focus braille display, just wondering if there are any flags/options I can alter in about:preferences or about:config (firefox’s “hidden” advanced settings page containing literally thousands of configurable options) that might help me have a smoother experience. Right now, since FF updated to 78.0.1 a week or two ago, everything from wikipedia pages to my old wisp’s webmail is crashing tabs. This only happens when jFW is running.

Hi Tina,

DocuSign is not something you download as a standalone program. If the document you are signing was prepared using DocuSign, there is a link in it that will open it within DocuSign, and the places where you are required to sign will show up as buttons to JAWS.

Hi. For those using Docusign with jaws, is a web page you're going to

signing a new lease later this year and this is encouraging that it
seems accessible. I'll grab it on the google play store on android in

Yes, I did turn that on. I really can't figure out why it wasn't working

I recently purchased a commercial building for my retail store and at the

probably had to sign a dozen things over a period of a few month and it was
prettty easy. Make sure you select to use the screenreaer mode, at some

Hi All,

Has anyone tried using Docusign recently with JAWS, or NVDA for that matter?
We had used it about 3 years ago when selling a house and found it quite
accessible. However, today when we tried to use it again, it was unuseable.
For example, if you hit the letter B to navigate to the next button to
sign, and then hit enter or spacebar, no signature was applied. Focus was
thrown either to somewhere else in the document or completely into a
different open window. We found similar results with NVDA.

Has anyone had success using Docusign lately, and if so, with which screen
reader and browser? We were using Chrome.

I finally ended up trying it on my iPhone, and did have better luck there.

Thanks,
Pam

Jonas,

You are correct that the screen curtain in JAWS will not save
significant battery on a laptop since it only turns off the actual
display,
but does nothing with the backlight (which is actually a edge-spill
light,
but that doesn't really matter). You have a lit black screen.

Just activated it on/off with INSERT+SPACE,F11 and it's clear
that the backlight remains on. Whether it remains on for hours I cannot
say, and I cannot use my computer without looking at the screen.

Hey guys.

So here's a question, how do you activate this screen shade? It would
be cool to know.

Cheers,

Jed

Or type the five letters assoc into the Windows 10 search field to bring up the file association dialog. Tab to "Choose default app by file types." Press spacebar, then start tabbing. You'll encounter an interminable string of file extensions. Mike B posted that you can skip to the approximate alphabetical placement by holding down the tab key for a few seconds. If need be, repeat until you arrive in the alphabetical neighborhood of the file extension you're looking for. Then tab one by one.

The three file types are m4A, M3U, and MP4.

I'll have to go back and check winamp to see if those file types are associated with Winamp.

Hi, Tom.

Winamp has been around for a long time. Not so Zoom. If you determine the file extension for a Zoom recording, you can associate it with Winamp.

I actually found the recordings where you suggested they would be.

Interestingly, though, they don't seem to be recognized by winamp, which I use as my default audio and video player.

Winamp seems to recognize all other audio files, but not Zoom recordings.

There is a zoom folder in documents where they aledgedly find their way.

Good luck!

I know you can start and stop meeting recordings with the Alt R key

I don't need any meeting recordings, but can't find where the

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Zoom meeting recordings are .M4A files which can be played by Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player. I don't know if there is a plugin for Winamp to play this file type.
