Jaws & Win10 Latest

Mike B. <mb69mach1@...>

Hi All,

Running J16 thru J2018 & Widows 10 latest.  Whenever I invoke the, Insert / Jaws key + F10, keystroke to open the Jaws task list dialogue I have the following listed / showing:

Cortana   On Top
Main Menu   On Top
Microsoft Store
Maximized Microsoft Store   Restored
Microsoft® Windows® Operating System   On Top
OneNote   Maximized
OneNote   Restored
Settings   Maximized
Settings   Restored
Start   On Top
Windows Shell Experience Host   On Top
Windows Shell Experience Host   Restored

My question, how do I stop all the above crap from showing in the Task list?!  This is really irritating!
All help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.  A very happy & prosperous New Year to all.
Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

How well does Jaws 2018 work with the latest Kindle for PC

Cristóbal

Hello list,

Was curious to know if anyone’s been using the most recent version of Kindle for PC and Jaws 2018? I know there have been supposed improvements on both sides in regards to accessibility, but poking around online, it doesn’t really say how extensive. If things like highlighting or making notes, that sort of thing can also be done with Jaws. I’ve heard that NVDA also is supposed to work well with Kindle for PC, but NVDA is more my backup choice for doing things. I’d rather stick with Jaws if possible. How about braille display support?

I like FSReader and QRead well enough, but the most you can really do with either program is bookmark. That and if you’ve got multiple devices you’ve soon got a patchwork of books and bookmarks on different machines.

The idea of being able to make notations and highlight passages and have synchronization across platforms and devices is appealing to me. Thus my interest.

Thanks,

Cristobal

Re: Outlook2016 often "forgets" Ctrl=-y "goto folder" command

Not here, it works for me every time.

But check your title bar before you do it with JAWS+T and make sure Outlook hasn't lost focus.

All the best

Outlook 2016 sometimes “forgets” the Ctrl-y “goto folder” command. I have to use the Alt-q Edit field and literally spell it out for the suddenly dim-witted program.
Does this happen to anyone else?

Thanks.
Be well

OfffUsage At Low Prices Or Free

Owais Patel <owaisipatel@...>

Hello everyone. I have downraded Jindows 10 onto my Mac. I want to use it as effeciently as possible. My current budget does not permit me to buy any versions of Office. I know about the $10 offer to pay for usage per month. I heard that you can get office applications from the store in Windows. Does the free usage make a difference for using Office applications if I sign in with my Hotmail Account? Thanks.

Sincerely,
Owais

Hi Shirley,

If your Firefox has updated to version 57 or above it will be mostly useless with Jaws for the time being.
Much better to download and install Google Chrome.

Re: Installing Jaws Onto Additional Devices

After you install Jaws and the system reboots Jaws will ask if you want to authorize it or run it in demo mode. Just select you want to authorize it manually via the internet and at some point you get to where you type or paste in your authorization key.

I think they just put sound drivers in the boot wim and if you have
a sound card that they have a driver for, then it would work.

First thing to do is get yourself a copy of the late Carlos Nazario's
Windows pre-installation environment with NVDA. There's one for Windows 7 32- or 64-bit, and Windows 10 32- or 64-bit systems. You get these from http://www.opopanax.net/download. Create the DVD, then put it aside while you do the next step.

Next step is to create a standalone copy of Image for Windows. I
created an audio demo of how to do this. Get it from at
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gg10t516n0azszx/PE%20Builder.mp3?dl=0

Finally, boot the Windows pre-installation environment DVD you created, and when the talking Desktop starts talking, run your standalone IFW and do the restore.

Recently, and I think since the last JAWS 18 update snuck into my system, I've been having difficulty using web sites. I keep getting stuck and can't read through web pages I used to manage just fine. What happened?

Here's my latest challenge: I once signed up with "Instacart" and had no problem. Now, here's what I see on one of the pages: https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instacart.com%2Fstore%2F%23store-wrapper&data=02%7C01%7C%7C90cba38602c0406ec54308d54d9a8616%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636500248419403268&sdata=iSmJj5h6E6ctzQNdmhLK9sR2Zn8%2FQgBF2Y6o9uW68fQ%3D&reserved=0 Tool tip
That's all I can read.
I can't read any tool tip message, and I can't move further forward or back. I'm trapped. To me, it appears as though the rest is blank.

I expected to have some trouble with Instacart, but this is happening on other web sites. Any ideas would be greatly welcomed.

Appreciatively,

Shirley
