Hi Steve!

Please email me off list, because I would love to talk with you about the accessibility of the Chrome book.

I love the Chrome browser, and all of the Chrome apps, like Google Docs and so on.

I use JAWS and NVDA with windows 10. I would like to know how Chrome Vox next works, and the key commands and that!

Have a great one!

Top 5 audio enhancers for Windows 10

Cristóbal

Hello list,

Was wondering if anyone’s used any of these sound utilities and whether they found them to be accessible and actually do in fact increase or enhance sound quality? Be it audio in general (in my case a laptop) or even if there’s any positive impact for a screen reader (for me Jaws with eloquence).

I thought I’d ask first in case someone’s already put them through their paces and can offer an opinion and hopefully help avoid having to install and uninstall application after application. Link to the article covering each one is also below.

Applications in question are:

1. DFX Audio Enhancer

2. Breakaway Audio Enhancer

3. Bongiovi DPS for Windows 10

4. SoundPimp Audio Enhancer

5. Fidelizer Audio Enhancer

http://windowsreport.com/best-audio-enhancers-windows-10/

Thanks,

Win 10 changed the way this is accessed. Right now Narroator is the only screen reader that works with the new interface.

Hi Tony and Bill,

Here's the solution to your problem:-

Go into a command line.

Press Alt-Space then down to Properties.

In there, make sure that Legacy Console is ticked.

Now JAWS should be happier about reading the command line.

Good luck.

jaws saying blank when reading lines in word2016

Hi guys:

I just obtained a new computer,

A del inspiron 15-5570 model with win 10 and jaws 2018 and word2016.

When I arrow down through a doc,

Jaws says blank even before it even reads what is on the line,

So it says something like this:

“”blank” heading 1 bla blab la”.

It says blank regardless if the line is truly blank,

Or whether the line has data?

Any ideas

Re: 2018 with a 250 G hardrive?

Yes, but a Windows and Office installation takes no more than 6 or 8 Gb so even if you start out with 48 Gb you still have 40 Gb left. Anyhow, it comes down to unimportant details, the point I wanted to make is that 250 Gb is a multiple of what you need to run Windows and Office and some other applications, as somebody else pointed out, they are running Windows 10 on a system with a 32 Gb SSD and below are the hardware requirements according to Microsoft, essentially Windows 10 should be able to run on just about any system that can run Windows 7 and in some cases I would say Windows 10 runs better:

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Free hard disk space: 16 GB
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
A Microsoft account and Internet access

There is definitely something wrong, you can install Windowsssss and Office on a system with a 60 Gb SSD and still have probably 40 Gb or more free space. If you have a 250 Gb hard drive and there is nothing much other than Windows and maybe Office there you should have at least 200 Gb or more free space.
You said the computer was given to you, maybe it has an old Windows installation on it although they only take maybe 3 or 4 Gb, I'd do a disk cleanup and see what shows up and also make sure you check how much is in the recycle bin.
Lastly, make sure the drive is not partitioned, maybe the C drive with the Windows installation is just a 60 or 80 Gb partition and you have another partition with the majority of the drive space in it.

It has 6 Gigs of ram and a 250 G hard drive. Is that enough to run JAWS

Perhaps the agent being sighted was not aware of the size of hard drive needed. After all, he didn't know Window Eyes had been discontinued. So fixed thazt issue, just double checked my account, and then you select download spam, then use the click on save button. So that fixed it.

The issue that you speak of where writing the word budget produces the degrees symbol in JAWS appears to have been resolved with JAWS 2018.
I am using grade 2 braille input on a Focus braille display and I just tried it now and the degrees symbol was not produced nor pronounced by JAWS with speech. I tried it in Word 2016 and in this email message here.

Yes, you are right. I have emailed with Elita group on wanting the ability

Subject: New member/OT question.

Hi all, I am a JAWS 17 user, and I am interested to know if anyone here Has
n El Braille 14, or knows any Users of the El Braille 14 by Freedom
Scientific? I would like to get some first-hand user feedback on how it
works for them. Particularly with regard to using JAWS and the open book
software and pearl OCR camera. I intend to use the Pearl, the El Braille
40 (when it becomes US available),and related software to facilitate my
literary Braille occupation. Thanks in advance for your help and
indulgence.
Shalom,

Re: 2018 with a 250 G hardrive?

Is there anything on it? If not you can delete it and extend the primary partition to include it.

There is definitely something wrong, you can install Windowsssss and Office
on a system wwwwith a 60 Gb SSD and still have probably 40 Gb or more free
space. If you have a 250 Gb hard drive and there is nothing much other than
Windows and maybe Office there you should have at least 200 Gb or more free
space.
You said the computer was given to you, maybe it has an old Windows
installation on it although they only take maybe 3 or 4 Gb, I'd do a disk
cleanup and see what shows up and also make sure you check how much is in
the recycle bin.
Lastly, make sure the drive is not partitioned, maybe the C drive with the
Windows installation is just a 60 or 80 Gb partition and you have another
partition with the majority of the drive space in it.

Sieghard

Not sure, best buy said it had a 5.1 or slightly higher processor. I am sure
it is fast, just not sure it is big enough. I got it back from Best buy
Sunday Nov. 5 and already it says I just have about 39 Gs left of storage
space. .

I was given a HP lap top by a charitable group sponsored by the government.
It has 6 Gigs of ram and a 250 G hard drive. Is that enough to run JAWS
2018 as well as other related products? The agent knew I was blind.
Perhaps the agent being sighted was not aware of the size of hard drive
needed. After all, he didn't know Window Eyes had been discontinued. I
don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth however, fear the hard drive is
not big enough to handle accessibility products. It was suggested I just
send the lap top back.
