I still have one HP Envy laptop that has remained on Version 1909, and Windows Update is definitely not broken, as the 2020-12 cumulative update to version 1909 showed up for it either yesterday or today, I don't remember when I first saw it.

Two other HP laptops I have, including this one, went to 20H2 one month ago, tomorrow.  Feature Update roll outs are generally a months long affair and, in certain cases, this being one of them, a feature update may be skipped on a given machine.  I doubt that Envy will ever see Version 2004.

A more efficient way is using touch cursor to inspect the screen controls.

A huge clarification: there is no 20H1.

2. TAB to the categories list, and select Update and Security, press ENTER.

3. TAB to the list of categories, and select Windows Update, press ENTER.

4. TAB past the Check for Updates button, and see if there is a Download and Install link.

5. If there is a Download and Install link, read your screen with JAWS key plus B, and listen to see if the update is described as a Feature Update.

6. If it is a Feature Update, it will probably be version 20H1 or 20H2.

7. Even if it turns out to be 20H1, after you install it, you will probably soon get the update for 20H2.

Bill, you'd be absolutely correct 99 and 44 one-hundreths percent of the time.  But you can get Download and install links for preview cumulative updates and certain optional ones.  Right now on my 1909 machine there is an optional cumulative update sitting there in Download and install state, and I intend to skip it.

Always check to see what the update is before clicking a Download and install link, even though the vast majority of the time it will be a feature update.

Now, is that the home edition?  I scaled down to home and it cost me $165 Canadian.  Because I am registered with the Canadian National institute for the blind (CNIB) it made me tax exempt. Thus no taxes on the SMA. Now with all this subscription talk, it seems at $90 per year, it is cheaper to pay for 2 years of SMA at $165 rather then $180.    

Just wanted to update with my experience:

I called Freedom Scientific because the SMA page kept on resulting in an error for me when I entered my serial number. I got connected to a representative fairly quickly and she explained that since I had Fusion that it would cost me $270 for two more years of updates (for ZoomText, Fusion and JAWS). I just wanted to report this for anyone else who may be interested in how much it would cost others in my situation.

Get those SMAs before January 1st!
