I don't know if this is happening, but is it possible for Windows 10 Security to be putting these files in quarantine as soon as the flashdrive is plugged in?

How about if you zipped the folders up and sent them as an attachment in an email?

Take care and stay safe.  Mike.

Are you using the built-in security app so come on those little drives? If I was you I would do a full format on the drive then copy the files. If it’s not the little security app on the drive. I’ve never seen this before and I don’t know what you can do.

Hi Stanley.

Go where the files are. Don’t select any of them. Press the applications key, or if you don’t have that, SHIFT+F10 should work. Go down to SORT, hit RIGHT ARROW to open this menu, then hit UP ARROW until you get to ascending. Hit ENTER, and your files will be in alphabetical order.

Hope this helps.

Go to view then sort then press enter on name. This will reverse the order so A is at the top.

List Rules

When:
Thursday, 1 October 2020
12:00am to 1:00am
(GMT-04:00) America/New York

Description:
The following is the current version of the JFW Mailing List policies. These are sent out monthly, and also available from:

http://groups.io/g/jfw/wiki/List-Policies

**List Policies**

1: Keep it clean. We're a family list, and there are people here who probably don't want to hear everything *exactly* that's running through your head. If you wouldn't see it on TV, it doesn't belong in a post to the list. If you're not sure, email the administration before you post it to the list. Otherwise, you stand to see your posts moderated.

2: Stay on topic. We're a JFW-oriented list. That said, anything related to JFW, its functionality with programs etc is acceptable. If it doesn't have to do with JFW, it doesn't belong on the list. This includes, but isn't limited to, talk of other screen readers such as Window Eyes.

3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject.

4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind.

5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration.

6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently.

As always, if there are problems or questions with regards these policies, don't hesitate to send them off-list to jfw+owner@groups.io

Just as with Dropbox, once you signed into OneDrive with your Microsoft account allyou have do do is make sure all the files you want to sync are inside the OneDrive folder.

You do have to check OneDrive settings as by default it may keep content more in the cloud, but you can choose for everything to download so that a local copy is on your device.

I would like to start using Microsoft OneDrive so I can have the same files on my desktop computer and ElBraille computer.  Does anyone know where I can find tips on using OneDrive, or a tutorial?

I would like my files to be kept locally on each computer and constantly synchronized with OneDrive.  That way I could work on a file even if the internet is not available and it would synchronize and update when the internet became available.

Thank you for your help.

Did you download it from the Microsoft store or from Amazon? Sometimes universal apps i.e. MS store dont work with jaws or other screenreaders for that matter.

Try useing an earlier version of Jaws to see if it is Jaws 2020 or Kindle.

Oh, this is an old nemesis. Sometimes Windows does weird weird things with focus. Another one you'll find is that if you're playing a real track, not a stream, and you attempt to use the script commands to have JAWS speak time elapsed or time remaining, JAWS will say "Alt Shift T" and "Control Shift T" respectively. For best results, close all other windows but Winamp, or deal with the abberrant behavior which has been going on forever. I don't understand it, and frankly, I don't know anyone else who does.

I know this because if I press insert+q, JAWS says:
Windows Explorer settings are loaded
The application currently being used is Winamp.exe

so I then press insert+numrow 0, in which JAWS says:

Hello to all.
Would appreciate it if anyone would know how to create a message rule, to
ship that knowledge my way please.
In WLM, it was oh so easy.
You had four columns from left to right.
The first column I always down arrowed until I saw Where To or CC contains
people.
I always made sure that one was checked.
I think I'm stuck on step two within Outlook's message rules instructions.
If anyone could show me via keyboard commands the following:
1. where the name of the rule goes.
2. Where the e-mail address for that rule goes.
3. How to make sure the mail has a audio sound and goes into the correct
mailbox.
Many thanks.

Sounds like you did everything right. I just looked at this programme yesterday and it’s pretty basic – not sure why you’re not getting an audible recordinng. Does the microphone work in other cases/applications? Is the volume high enough?

I’m not certain but you could look to see in the microphone settings accessible from the sound recorder itself – it’s a button that takes you to a part of Windows settings, I believe, to configure which apps are permitted to use the mic. Mine worked right away though without being granted permission – I think all windows programmes may have it by default.

all it would take. Not multiple list boxes that dont work unless
you do 2 or 3 work arounds and jumping from box to box is stupid.

I understand where you’re coming from, and I have my own method

nowhere else if I can help it:

Say I find something with Chrome, and I want it in my trusty
old favorites structure. I hit alt-d to go to the address
bar. Control-c to copy. Now, I fire up my little old,
out-of-date Internet Explorer. Most of the times, it will still
open. I hit control-o to open. Paste in my URL; hit
enter. Again, more often than not, The website opens. I don’t
care if it opens sluggishly, as long as it opens. Now, I use
the same old IE command to add to favorites. There you go. Yes,
it’s cumbersome, but I just can’t get to feeling at home in
that Chrome favorites management deal. My default browser is,
for the time being, Google Chrome, and that’s how the URL will
open. It’s just that I have my comfortable structure with
logically organized links in folders, or in second-level
subfolders under first-level parent folders. It’s part of my
organizational file system, and it’s so established that I just
want to keep it that way, no matter how crazy it may seem.

Hello Brian,

tried the approach via the favorites manager - still quite cumbersome.

It seems to me that longterm maintaining the IE favorites file
on the desktop is much more efficient:

I will still save the favorite in the Edge Browser with Control + d

Additionally however - and this is certainly more work

1. Go with control + l and copy the web address of the page in Edce

2. Open the IE favorites on the desktop

3. create new shortcut with the application menue.

After this I have the convienience of handling all subsequent
accesses with keyboard searches etc from the desktop file.

what you're looking for a couple of characters in the search box
tends to really cut down on what's available in the actual
favorites list in the right pane.
