Re: how can a person turn indicate capital letters on please in the jaws settings?

Bill White <billwhite92701@...>

Hi, Hank and Patty. I left out that you must press ENTER after tabbing to
Sound Schemes. So I'll try the steps again below.

1. First open the program you will need to hear the indication of capital
letters while using.
2. Type JAWS Key plus six on the numbers row, or press JAWS Key plus F2.
3. If using JAWS Key plus F2, Arrow down to Settings Center and press ENTER.
4. In the search box, type the word scheme.
5. TAB once after it says Sound Schemes. You will see Sound Schemes on the
current line. Press ENTER.
6. Arrow down to Proofreading (Attributes.
7. Tab to OK, and press ENTER.
8. Now, instead of Classic Scheme, you will have Proofreading (with
attributes).
9. If you want to change back, perform the same steps, except arrow back up
to Classic Scheme.

Hello,

Does anyone maybe know how a person can MAYBE turn indicate capital letters
on IN THE JAWS SETTINGS so when say you are reviewing a document in MsWord
OR IN YOUR EMAIL PROGRAM that you just finished typing for any possible
overlooked errors, when you go letter by letter to the right or left Jaws
saids "caps" or "upper" or something like that when it comes across a
capital letter and then saids lower or smaller when it comes back to lower
case letters?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, so this would more so help
me to find any letters in a document or email that have maybe been
mistakenly capitalized when I go letter by letter. Much thanks in advance
for any help on this matter.

If you press alt+tab and release both keys, the computer cycles between the last two opened files. If you press alt+tab and release only the tab, pressing alt repeatedly will cycle through all open files. another way to access open files is with the taskbar--windows+t--and press right and left arrows.

Yes, that's what I usually do, but so many others talk about using the alt plus tab to cycle through programs, that I thought I was missing something. You're right--JAWS key plus F10 works fine.

Starting in late November Chrome stopped working with J2018. Jaws simply would not focus on any web content. All still worked fine in J18.

After repairs, re-installs, updates  and several sessions with VFO tech support, I finally gave up and used J18 only.

I am pleased to report that after installing most recent update, J2018 works fine in Chrome.

In the event any others had this problem, I urge you to install latest 2018 update.

Heya folks,

The world is a strange place when an update fixes one thing and causes other quirky things to happen in my MS Outlook 2010, if anybody else is running this outlook are you unable to hear how many emails and unread messages with the Jaws key and numpad 3 any more since this new 2018 update?

Also my top and bottom sound is gone even though its enabled.

The one thing it did fix though was the OCR scan thing but I always had Kurzwell doing that for me anyway so this Jaws key/numpad 3 not giving me email info now is truly annoying, so anyone else have this problem?

Cheers,

Hi, Jim. Yes. I use Outlook 2010, and can hear the items you described with the JAWS plus Three Keys. What I can no longer hear is when there are zero messages in a folder by using JAWS Key plus eight, the Read Current Line command. Now it’s just blank. Now I must use JAWS Key plus TAB to get this result.

I'm also trying out an older program called DupeGuru.

It shows results in a table but I'm not finding it easy to mark items. Some icons aren't spoken with Jaws.

Anyone suggest abetter app for this job?

Hi,
I had the same problem. I tried just about every package out there and found nothing jaws will work with. When I asked tech support, they just said jaws didn't support any software to backup or image or clone hard drives???
I thought that was a basic function of all PC users but apparently jaws does not:-(

Hi,

So had a bit of a system failure earlier today and had to reinstall windows, its sorted the issue but taken me hours reinstalling everything back on to my PC. I understand there is a way of creating a system image, so in event of a total system failure you can just restore the computer from the saved image. I'm sure I've seen this topic come up here before, so I'm sorry to ask again, but can anyone advise of accessible software to both create and restore a system image using jaws.

Thanks in advance for any help

The best thing to use with the screenreader user being the support person and the non-screenreader user receiving said support is NVDA's Remote Assistance add-on. The non-screenreader user can start NVDA and get into the Remote Support add-on with proper instruction, then the support provider can terminate the remote copy of NVDA when the session is over.
