Re: Unable to install Stascom software that Mike B. Spoke of yesterday
I just installed the 2019.4 version of Stascom under Windows 10 Version 2004 Home, 64-bit, Build 19041.508 with no difficulty and no flagging from Windows Security beyond the usual UAC asking if I wanted to run it.
After it finishes installing, it asks if you want to run the First Run Wizard, to which I answered yes, and that hangs for a very long time, probably around 40 seconds to 1 minute, after a command prompt screen pops up right after answering yes and before the wizard itself actually begins running and asking you questions with voice prompts. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

I haven't tried to install the program on my Win 10 PC yet but do intend to do so. Installed it on my Win 7 PC yesterday with no problems. Jaws hasn't lost focus since. Neat program Says good night Tom at night and says Windows is shutting down . Hope that works on Win 10. In the morning it says good morning tom, Stascom at your service. Tom

Just so we're 100% clear, you're talking about Stascom 2019.4, software by Jacques Stassen, downloadable from here: https://www.stascom.co.za/stascom.html?

I know I hear it occasionally, but I'll have to pay attention to when it occurs. Like someone said, I often have assumed it was because I was being impatient and hit something that took focus away or something, but I'll pay closer attention to it. I'm on JAWS 2020 on Windows 10 on both of my machines.

I don't believe Excel allows setting the width of individual cells. How text which takes more space than the width of its column appears will depend on what the cell to its immediate right has in it. If that cell is blank, the too wide text will spill over and display in the adjacent cell. If the adjacent cell is not blank, the too wide text will be cut off and not displayed even though it is still in the cell. You can change the format of individual cells to set them to wrap text when the text they contain is too wide to fit in the width of their column. This will cause the row they are in to expand in height in order to display the wrapped text. To do this, place focus in the cell you wish to have the text wrapped or select an entire column or a group of cells for which you want to wrap text and then: 1. Press ctrl + 1 to open the format dialog box. 2. Press ctrl + tab to move to the alignment tab in the format dialog box. 3. Press tab until you reach the wrap text checkbox and press space to check it. 4. Press tab until you reach the Ok button and press enter. To be fair though it is most likely Windows pulling Jaws focus to some temporary notification or something like that.

I run a little program that automatically maximizes whatever
screen / window that comes into focus and since I installed this little goodie I
haven't had this focus loss problem. Stascom info below:
For more detailed information, here is the link to the Stascom page of the
website.
Download Link:
Hotkeys:
Control+1, Contact manager Control+2, Reminder Manager Control+3, Windows Applications and settings Control+4, Password Generator Control+5, Word Count for Selected Text Control+6, Day of the Week Control+7, Configuration manager Control+8, Exclude Window Title from maximizing Control+9, Generate Configuration report control+\, Program Dashboard Control+Windows+Up or Down arrow, adjust computer volume. Just a final note.
This little program has many great features, and it works with any screen reader. Even though I do like the reminders, password generator, and other features, my favorites are: * Maximizing Windows: I like the fact that all of my program windows will automatically be maximized. This helps from any basic problems with my screen reader. * Muting Volume is disabled with minimum volume being required. Many times I accidently hit the mute key on my function key row muting my volume and would always forget which key it was exactly. Now with this feature, I do not have to worry about this ever happening! * Control System Volume on the fly. Being able to turn up or down the system volume with a hotkey is so convenient and makes adjusting the system volume quick and easy. * Reporting Battery Status. Since I use a laptop, letting me know what my battery status is on a regular basis helps alert me when I should plug in my laptop to charge. * Time Announcement. I have mine set to announce every 15 minutes. This just helps me keep up with the time and helps keep me on task. Of coarse, keep in mind that you can turn off any of the features within
the configuration manager.
Enjoy,
Take care and stay safe. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go dodgers!
