Pasting the instructions for installing the Whatzapp Web scrips.

After installing Tampermonkey, go to

https://github.com/juliano-lopes/accessibility-by-force

After opening this web page just navigate between headings and links
with their respective quick keys.
Then you will get a link name with "WhatsApp web with more
accessibility", press enter on it.
Then there will be an another tab which is now opened, there you will
get install button simply press enter on it
after installation of that script just simply go to the WhatsApp web
and turn on the script by pressing alt + s & if you get in the another
language simply
change the language by pressing alt + l and choose English, now your
script is successfully activated and it will work in English language.

Hello everyone! in this article I will speak a little about
accessibility and usability, specificly on Whatsapp Web, and sharing
a script, users of screen
reader, can work on Whatsapp by the computer with more autonomy,
practicality and confidence.

The informations about the script and its installation are bellow: :

To use the scripts, it is necessary to have the extension
Tampermonkey for your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox,
Opera, Microsoft Edge ou Safari).
After that, just access the script, which will be recognized by
Tampermonkey, and click on install.

WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility

After installing the script for Whatsapp Web,
WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility, when accessing the app, you must
wait for the application to load and then use the shortcut ALT + S.
If the script is deactivated, the message:
Script activated successfully will be displayed; if the script is
already activated, an alert will be given with the message Script
disabled. When you deactivate it, all elements and shortcuts created
by it will be removed, except the activation and deactivation
shortcut.

Added elements and labels

With WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility enabled, the following
modifications will be applied:
• Before the panel with the chat list there will be a level 1 header
H1 to facilitate navigation via the screen reader, by pressing the 'h'
key or the
number '1' in the navigation mode;
• After opening a chat, at the beginning of the contact / group area
there will be a level 2 H2 header, with the label "Active chat +
CONTACT / GROUP NAME", which can be accessed by pressing the 'h' key
or number 2 in browse mode; • The emogi buttons will be labeled
above the message writing field in the footer; • After the message
writing field, there will be a button with the label "Record voice
message" if the text field is clear, or "Send text message" if it is
filled; • When you click on the "Record Voice Message" button, a
"Cancel recording" button, the recording time and another button
with the label "Send voice message"
will appear below the message field;

Shortcut keys

After enabling WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility, the following
shortcut keys are available:
• ALT + a: focus on the options for choosing the type of attachment
to be sent in the active chat; • ALT + B: focus on the search field
and label it as "Search chat and contacts ..."; • ALT + C: focus on
the chat list; • ALT + E: puts the focus on the message writing
field and labels it "Write a message (name of the active chat)"; •
ALT + L: opens an options box to select the language of the script
(Portuguese, English or Spanish), after pressing the 'enter' key in
the desired option, the script messages will be in that language; •

ALT + S: activate and deactivate the script; • ALT + T: speak the

NOTE: sometimes NVDA does not go into focus mode automatically when
using shortcuts, so you may need to put it in focus mode with the
shortcut NVDA + space bar. Other keys can be configured as the NVDA
key, but by default it is 'Insert'.

It sounds strange, but if you did not install the December release of JAWS 2020 and you have JAWS 2020 on your system, then try installing that update. See quote below from that release notes.
• In the 2020 December Update, we have included a fix that will help users of ZoomText and Fusion in the future when they uninstall that version yet continue to use later versions. There was a problem in earlier 2020 versions where it was impacting shared components with other versions such as the most recent release. We encourage anyone who still has the 2020 versions installed, to please update now even if you are not currently using it.

Really this is nothing to do with Russian Composers – I am quite happy to go with my Music instructor on spelling etc. .

I had the same generic speech dictionary problem with the Jaws pronunciation of Coronavirus last year which  I had to amend,  with all pronunciation marks multiple times  had to be inserted.

That is I had to put in coronavirus by itself, coronavirus with a full stop, then the same word with a comma, then with a colon and so on. whilst in NVDA just the basic amendment once without any accompanying punctuation worked.

Hello everyone

In the last part, of the composer's name "Shostakovich", add the letter e after the letter O, and if you are using Eloquence, you should get Shostakoevich. This alteration in the JAWS Default Dictionary file, may work for other synthesizers as well.

Are we talking about Shostakovich, the composer?

If so, the name was misspelled from the beginning.

Eloquence mispronounces it terribly, while Vocalizer Expressive does a fine job.

Eloquence says something like sha stack  a kov vich

But if it is spelled like this, Eloquence gets it pretty close:

Shaustahcoevvich

Hi David,

I just put the name, Shostakovic, into my JDF exactly the way you did along with the replacement, and I then placed a question mark, colon, exclamation mark, a period, a comma and a semicolon after the name and they all read the same.  See below;

 Shostakovic.

Shostakovic:

Shostakovic,

Shostakovic?

Shostakovic!

Shostakovic;

Are you putting a space at the beginning or at the end of the name in either the actual or replacement field?  if so, do not!

Also, these are my other settings, Applies to language, All Languages, Speak replacement word using language, Default, and the case sensitive is not checked.

When you exit are you saving your changes?  When I close I use the, Control + S, keystroke then I press, Alt + F4.

There is a constant dictionary annoyance  which I find with Jaws.

So for example Eloquence on Jaws  will mis-pronounce a name like Shostakovic. I amended this in my Jaws dictionary tonight to Shosta co vic to make it approximate to something like the correct pronunciation

.

However in practice this is not enough, because if Shostakovic is followed by a full stop. A comma, a colon then the    amended pronunciation will not work for me. This means that for every word I want to put in the Jaws dictionary has to be entered at least 4 time.

The first time without any punctuation, the next 3 times with a full stop, a comma, and a colon.

Depending on what I am trying to read I sometimes have to add the word 6  times to the dictionary because you have to also include version of the word with a question mark and exclamation mark and so on.

I assume that there is nothing I can do to avoid this annoyance at this time but surely it is not too great a coding challenge for VFO to make the Jaws pronunciation dictionary just a little more intelligent and smart and less dumb?

not accessable with Jaws and some of the buttons are not labelled.

Are there any shortcut keys?

I was able to compose a message but So far I was not able to access
the send button.

Reaching received messages is also a real challenge - at least for me.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Mike.  Thanks for sending along the link.  Unfortunately I get the same results after downloading it from the web site.  I’ll be calling Vispero in the morning.  Here’s hoping they can fix my Jaws issue.  I’ve done both from updating it and then just downloading it from the site with the same error message.

Hi Rebecca,

Are you updating using the update feature in Jaws, or are you downloading the update and running it from your computer?  If you're using the update feature in Jaws try downloading the update and running it from you're computer instead.  The February update download link is below.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Hi Milton. I do get the UAC and hit alt y for yes. I hit space to say I agree with the license agreement and hit enter. I wait for it to install and then it says The Jaws Install has failed.

Hi everyone.  I’m running Jaws 2021 and am trying to install the latest version of Jaws which is the one that came out in February of this year.  I tried updating it and it says The Jaws install has failed.  I tried repairing Jaws and that has failed.  I even went up on the site to redownload the latest version and still the same message about the Jaws install failing.  Any ideas as to how I can get this latest version to install correctly?  Thank you.

I use control + the arrow keys to get to the end of data.
BTW, if you do insert + H in Excel, you will get a whole bunch of useful keystrokes.
Also try insert + W.

There are no headings in excel nor can you navigate by first letter navigation.

Idf  you want to go to the end of data in a column you can press the "End" key followed by "Down Arrow". For example, if you had data in column A and in rows 1 through 50 and let's say you are in row 1. If you press End followed by Down Arrow you would instantly jump to the last row where there is data, e.g. Row 50. If you have data in row 1 through 50 and then you have a blank row and you again have data in rows 52 through 100, pressing End + Down Arrow in any row between 1 and 49 will take you to row 50, the last row which has anything in it. You can then down arrow to row 51 which is blank, down arrow again to row 52 which is the first row of the next block of data and if you then press Ent + Down arrow you land in row 100 which is the last row with data in that section.

The same applies to going left to right, if you have data in Row 1 and columns A through J and you are in column A you can press End + Right Arrow and you jump to Column J which is the last column with data.

Hello Everyone:

If I have data in a column, is there a way to quickly navigate with first letter navigation or can I use a heading marker similar to using headings in Microsoft Word to jump from one section to another without needing to have blank cells in the column?  Hope my question makes sense.

Thank You,

Response disclaimer: I'm using Excel 2010 on a Windows 7 computer so if my suggested keystrokes yield differing results than you get, this might be the reason.

I'll add to Sieghard's excellent explanation by encouraging you to consider using Excel's powerful auto filtering feature. Auto filtering provides a way to quickly find or narrow down your search if you know the content of the column you're examining and wish to filter it by keyword or other options depending on the column's content. Here are the steps to do this:

1.   Place focus in the cell which is the column heading of the column you wish to filter.

2.   Press ctrl + shift + l to turn filtering on. Each column heading in the row where focus is will become a drop down box for accessing the auto filter settings.

3.   You should probably press ctrl + s to save your spreadsheet at this point so that auto filtering will remain turned on and in case you mess anything up when playing with auto filtering.

4.   Press alt + down arrow to open the filtering list of choices. I would caution you against executing any of the Sort options and instead use the Text filter option. The caution against sorting is because if you have blank rows anywhere in the spreadsheet, sorting it can mess up your data. You can access the text filter setting from the column heading cell of your column of choice by pressing alt + down arrow as previously mentioned and either arrowing down until it is announced and right arrowing over to its submenu choices or by pressing the f key.

5.   The Text filter has many choices including Equals, Does not equal, Begins with, Ends with, Contains, and Does not contain. I prefer the Contains filter because choosing it will open a text box where you can type a keyword you think might be included in the column text you are filtering/searching.

6.   After typing the keyword in the presented text box and pressing enter, Excel will display all the rows immediately below your location that contain the keyword you entered.

7.   After using the Auto filter, make sure you return to the column heading cell of the column you filtered and press alt + down arrow to open the filtering choices, and arrow down to Clear filter from Windows function and press enter to remove the filter and display the complete unfiltered spreadsheet again.

8.   You might not save the spreadsheet when done in case your data was inappropriately altered while filtering.

Auto filtering is smart enough to know the contents of the column you are filtering and present applicable choices when you access its filter options. For example, if the column you are filtering is formatted as numerical, the filter choices presented when you alt + down arrow in the cell with its column heading will include options such as equals, does not equal, is greater than, is less than, etc.

Like everything, getting good with auto filtering takes practice and I encourage you to start playing with it to get that practice. If you would like a sample Excel file to practice with, I have a two-column spreadsheet containing Windows 10 run commands where I've turned on auto filtering and I'll be happy to share it.

moderated Re: identifying short cut keys

The only keyboard shortcuts that should be available (and I'm ignoring Windows keyboard shortcuts that "work in every application, when the context for their use exists") is either from the software developer, and these are generally documented, your screen reader, or a script/add-on to your screen reader.

They also generally need to be web searched for as separate entities, e.g,, [Microsoft Word Keyboard Shortcuts] versus [JAWS Word keyboard shortcuts].  Stick whatever is appropriate, e.g., Quickbooks or Facebook App or Win10 Mail App, etc., for "Microsoft Word" and the principle still applies.

If you're looking for keyboard shortcuts for virtually anything Microsoft produces, using that above format in the web search engine of your choosing almost invariably turns up Microsoft's own page of those shortcuts somewhere in the first five results returned, and very often the first one.  But since web search results in every search engine I've used are returned as headings, you can make quick work of reviewing the first few results and, if necessary, adjusting your search terms to either exclude certain words with the minus operator immediately before a term, e.g., -case, force inclusion of certain terms, e.g,, +font, or just adding some additional search terms to narrow down your results because you started with too few, and got a lot of garbage back as a result.

accessibility and usability, specificly on Whatsapp Web, and sharing a
script, users of screen
reader, can work on   Whatsapp by the computer with more autonomy,
practicality and confidence.

The informations about the script and its installation are bellow: :

To use the scripts, it is necessary to have the extension Tampermonkey
for your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Microsoft
Edge ou Safari).
After that, just access the script, which will be recognized by
Tampermonkey, and click on install.

WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility

After installing the script for Whatsapp Web,
WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility, when accessing the app, you must
wait for the application to load and then
use the shortcut ALT + S. If the script is deactivated, the message:
Script activated successfully will be displayed; if the script is
already activated,
an alert will be given with the message Script disabled. When you
deactivate it, all elements and shortcuts created by it will be
removed, except the activation
and deactivation shortcut.

Added elements and labels

With WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility enabled, the following
modifications will be applied:
• Before the panel with the chat list there will be a level 1 header
H1 to facilitate navigation via the screen reader, by pressing the 'h'
key or the
number '1' in the navigation mode;
• After opening a chat, at the beginning of the contact / group area
there will be a level 2 H2
header, with the label "Active chat + CONTACT / GROUP NAME", which can
be accessed by pressing the 'h' key or number 2 in browse mode;
• The emogi buttons will be labeled above the message writing field in
the footer;
• After the message writing field, there will be a button with the
label "Record voice message" if the text field is clear, or "Send text
message" if it
is filled;
• When you click on the "Record Voice Message" button, a "Cancel
recording" button, the recording time and another button with the
label "Send voice message"
will appear below the message field;

Shortcut keys

After enabling WhatsappWebWithMoreAccessibility, the following
shortcut keys are available:
• ALT + a: focus on the options for choosing the type of attachment to
be sent in the active chat;
• ALT + B: focus on the search field and label it as "Search chat and
contacts ...";
• ALT + C: focus on the chat list;
• ALT + E: puts the focus on the message writing field and labels it
"Write a message (name of the active chat)";
• ALT + L: opens an options box to select the language of the script
(Portuguese, English or Spanish), after pressing the 'enter' key in
the desired option,
the script messages will be in that language;
• ALT + M: puts the focus on the message list of the active chat;
• ALT + S: activate and deactivate the script;
• ALT + T: speak the title of the active chat.
NOTE: sometimes NVDA does not go into focus mode automatically when
using shortcuts, so you may need to put it in focus mode with the
shortcut NVDA + space
bar. Other keys can be configured as the NVDA key, but by default it
is 'Insert'.
