The one suggestion I might make would be try it with the interface with a different browser it might help you out not sure though because I don’t use Gmail that way but I do know that from experience different browsers do react differently to HTML document when you’re working with things like jaws and NVDA Have a good day Shan

What are you expecting to hear with insert+tab? The Jaws help says that command “JAWSKey+Tab Says the current window and the associated prompt label.”
I’m guessing that is the associated prompt.

To each his own. I am still using WLM in Win 10 and 7 and haven’t had any
problems. As far as the Registry program, I have had Registry First Aid on my

worked. As I said, To each his own. I don’t recommend a registry

Re: Jaws question
David,
I don't exactly know how to describe what is very often called the system tray, also known as the notification area under Windows 10, other than to say it's a part of the taskbar, and located to the right side of the taskbar in its own section. Windows Key+B has the shortcut to throw focus to it for a very long time. Under Windows 10 the first item will always be the overflow area chevron, which gets announced a couple of different ways depending on the screen reader, and where icons that you don't want to have to deal with all the time get tucked. The ones you do want to have in the notification area all the time are shown to the right of the overflow area chevron. I can't remember now which JAWS setting it is that controls whether the JAWS window will appear in the taskbar items that you can get to via ALT+TAB to cycle through them, versus in the system tray/notification area. I know it exists, and even dealt with it recently, but I can't recall its location in the JAWS settings at the moment and don't have JAWS 2021 handy to check to see where it is. Unless they've changed something recently I believe that the JAWS window will appear on the taskbar unless you tweak the setting that says to run it from the system tray. I could, of course, be remembering the default state incorrectly. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

run in the background. If you don't have JAWS set to have its own window open all the time, it will appear in the system tray. Whether its there or not is really up to your personal preference. Where is JAWS located? On your hard drive? It should mostly be within c:\program files\freedom scientific. Though it does leave stuff in several folders and in your user profile, that's where the main executable files should be.

I have been following this thread and have two suggestions. 1. Call Freedom
Scientific Monday morning. They will get into your computer remotely and resolve
the problem. 2. Try one of the registry cleaner
programs. I had a problem where Windows Live Mail would not install for
me. I scoured the Internet and followed the suggestion to use a registry cleaner
program, tried it and it worked. Tom
Have you tried to redownload the JAWS 2021 file
again. It should install weather you have a license or not.

I’m using Jaws 2020.2008.24 on my Win 10 PC. There are times, When tabbing around in Zoom, Jaws says “Alerts Enabled. before identifying what is currently in focus. This has been happening since I began using Zoom in April. Would someone please let me know what I need to do to get rid of this message.

Re: Forms mode: your preferences
Cohn, Jonathan
I really dislike automatic, too many times, I have found that automatic turns off forms mode when I don't want it too. Either because I moved passed the end of what I was inputting, or because Javascript code changed something in the input area and forms mode flipped out. I usually, use semi-automatic except in places where I have overridden it with manual. The hardest part about manual forms mode is that if you let somebody else use your computer, they have the hardest time with the fact that when you click on an input field, and then type aa character it is grabbed by the Virtual Cursor and JAWS moves somewhere else.

problem with jaws 2021 sending email with gmail - ms edge
Jim Ruby
Hi, Since upgrading from jaws 2020 to jaws 2021 wen replying to email
jaws don't behave like it did in 2020. when I finish a reply and click send jaws does not update and I still see my message in the edit field and I can not click on any links, it does nothing. steps. open gmail use the html view click on a message go down to the reply edit field and enter a message and click send At this point jaws breaks or at least is no longer responding like it did in 2020 In jaws 2020 you would hear message sent and the reply edit field would be empty and you could go down and click the link to return the the mail box you were working in such as in box. If I go back to jaws 2020 it works as expected. Anyone else noticing this?

I have forms mode set to manual. it is just as easy to type e to navigate to an edit field and see if it's the one that's needed. I don't like the automatic setting for forms mode especially when just reviewing what's on a web page. semi automatic is ok but I still prefer manual.

Shirley Tracy
Hi Jim,
That’s part of my problem. I’m using Gmail through MS Mail with JAWS 2021. Someone else suggested clicking on the first or second letter of the link, and it does help in most cases. Funny, sometimes a link will work and sometimes the same link will not work. I have also learned to wait a bit after I enter the link. Apparently, it sometimes takes a while for it to work. I have often been impatient.

Hi, I am having the same problem on gmail. I If I type my email and just press enter on the send button the email will send, but jaws will not update so it looks like the email is not sent, but if I move the cursor to the second or third letter on the button it works. however if I continue to scroll down and try and hit the link to go back to the mail box I am working in I can never get that to work. I'm using gmail in html with ms edge with latest jaws 2021.
