Not positive since I have not had time to have someone call me.

Recently, I’ve been getting Windows 10 notifications from Mail and other thigs which, when I press the dismiss notification button, seem to still be there.

Not sure if they disappear from the screen, but, to JAWS, they seem to be there and I have found no way to get rid of them, other than to turn off notifications.

I usually hear them again after exiting some other program and focus seems to go to the notification.  There is nothing I can do, other then reboot or sign out and back in to get rid of the notification. When the buttons are there, they seem to do almost nothing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I just went to the feedback section under the help in Skype 7 and told Microsoft how bad Skype 8 is for blind people, if anyone else is interesting in providing feedback.  It's a very simple page to use, which is not the case when trying to do this thru the settings in Windows.  Perhaps this might also be available in the help section of Skype 8.

Maybe there’s another command that can also work, but I haven’t found it. Skype really needs to do a better job of keeping current their information.

Yes. Apparently, you have to tab to the answer button.

Not positive since I have not had time to have someone call me.

Maybe later this week I'll have my wife do a test call or 3.

I like Doug Lee's sense of humor.
Someone had stated on this list that Skype for Windows 10 had no hotkeys, but the Microsoft page gives hotkeys for Skype for Windows 10, Skype version 8 and version 7.  I know 7 is retiring, but it would appear that Microsoft has retained the bulk of the Windows hotkeys for Skype for Windows 10.

Is that what Doug Lee is referring to with the Native Skype UWP Keyboard Shortcuts?
I know the U is for Universal.
I'm new to Skype on Windows and am mainly trying to learn it for a client, but might start using it myself from time to time.

Thanks again for your help,

Re: Skype 8 scripts?

Cristóbal

I had written the various lists asking about the new Skype commands and specifically how to answer an incoming call since it wasn’t included in the Skype shortcuts. I got all sorts of responses from the old alt plus page up, alt plus a and some others, but no definitive answer. Finally, after trying all the new ones and ignoring the old ones I knew to not be it, I simply played around with it and did some test calls and bingo. Control plus shift plus P worked. Maybe there’s another command that can also work, but I haven’t found it. Skype really needs to do a better job of keeping current their information.

I am not changing to the new Skype until I absolutely have to, hoping VFO will get scripts going before September.  In the meantime, are any of you complaining to Microsoft about the mess they've made?  I recall there's a feedback section on the new one, before I switched back to Skype 7.

LOL, that's why I couldn't find it, since I couldn't get anyone to call me! I thought it was on a menu, and since no one was calling, that option would of course be disabled! Ha ha on me!

Control plus shift plus P will also answer an incoming call. Figured this out by playing around with it and doing some test calling. Skype really needs to update their documentation.

You have to be in the application window too.

Yes. Apparently, you have to tab to the answer button.

Not positive since I have not had time to have someone call me.

Maybe later this week I'll have my wife do a test call or 3.

Thanks Sieghard. Hopefully I wasn't the only one who wasn't aware of that.

Given Microsoft's commitment to accessibility, I suspect that will work well and especially since they have already listed the hotkeys.

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

"UWP" is short for "Universal Windows Platform" and these are the Windows Store apps which work on various platforms, e.g. Windows 10 on a PC, a tablet or other device such as Xbox I think etc.

Thanks so much Sieghard.

Thanks again for your help,
Richard

No, not from FS, but Doug Lee has Skype 8 scripts on his site, https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=www.dlee.org&data=02%7C01%7C%7C434897dad1a14312146608d5ef1b0249%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636677821626323308&sdata=ysLiYVAjdth01DCVd%2Fmsm49poWBQaJiMQBaswlK0rFI%3D&reserved=0.
Jaws will focus on Skype 8 and an initial release of scripts will come in an August update, possible a later in August update, then more improvements will be made in Jaws 2019.

Calibre can also remove kindle DRM (at least if you make sure not to
update your kindle reader).

I only know of one package that works on Kindle books that I use so I can
read them in Voice Dream Reader.
