Kevin, When you select text in a document, you selected the text and all of
it's atributes, i.e. the font, size, orientation alignment, and color. When
you hit Control+V to paste the selected text into a document, all of these
atributes are pasted along with the text. When you use Paste Special, you
have a menu of choices as to how you want the text to appear in your
document. You can choose text only, which will insert the text into your
document allowing it to take on the formatting of your document, or you can
choose to insert the selected text along with its original formatting. HTH.

Using Paste Special

Like pictures and other objects, text in a presentation has its own
formatting - such as typeface, color, and font size. When you copy text that
has different formatting into an Office program, the program, such as
PowerPoint or Word, automatically reformats that text to match the text of
the destination. However, you can use Paste Special to maintain the original
formatting or paste it as a link or a picture, for example.

list of 3 items
1. Cut or copy the slide, picture, text, or object that you want to paste.

2. Click in your Office file at the place you wish to insert that item.

3. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow under Paste,
click Paste Special, and then choose one of the options below.

Paste Special menu

Tip: If you'd prefer to use the keyboard you can press CTRL+ALT+V to invoke
Paste Special.

Hi, Richard. I have noticed this as well. It happened when I used to use Word 2003, and it sometimes still happens as I use Word 2010. I don’t know if upgrading to a later version of Word will help this. I suspect not. You know, the doc and docx files generated in Word are actually archive files, and you can actually open the archives with 7-zip. In other words, doc and docx files are actually zip files containing a few folders and several files. I never thought this was a good way to handle the creation of word processing files. There’s just too much going on inside Word for it to remain stable as the contents of the archive grows.

Hi!

I use MS Word 2007.  As I have begun working with a Word file that is becoming large (e.g., 20+ pages), JAWS seems to be getting increasingly sluggish and mixed-up.  Has anyone seen this before?  Might upgrading to a newer version of Word (really, MS Office) improve this; say like MS Office 2016 or even MS Office 2019?  I am not interested in MS Office 365 because I do not want to be cloud-based.  My system is Windows 7 Pro running JAWS 15, both 64 bit.  My computer is a Pentium i5 with 8 GB of RAN and >91 GB of free disk space on a 256 GB SSD.

Hi, Tom. You can access the clipboard in one of two ways. JAWS key plus WINKey plus X will read the text in the clipboard aloud.

JAWS key plus SPACE, followed by the letter C will put you into the clipboard text buffer. If there is text in this buffer, you will be able to arrow through

it as if it were a document or a text file. When finished, press ESCAPE.

The following is from the Office support page after searching for "past

Hi Tom.  You can check your locking code to see if it changes by going to your about JAWS option in the help menu.  It should announce the locking code.  Whenever you restart your computer, check it in the coming days to see if it is changing.  If it is, that could be the root cause of your issue.

Hi Tom.  I am using Windows 10 here along with the new JAWS Beta 3.  So far, I have not encountered the deactivation problem.  I’m wondering if JAWS is not recognizing your computer’s locking code.  You could be having that problem.  I have seen this from time to time.  If you update your authorization, it may resolve it.  You can always contact tech support and have them reset your authorization count, if you lose one.

I sure hope so.

Hello, everyone.

This morning, I experienced a very strange problem with Jaws when booting up my current windows 7 computer.

Even though my SMA is  current, and I’ve been using the latest build of Jaws 2018 for a number of months now, Jaws came up in demo mode.

I exited out of Jaws, and then re-loaded the program, and I was back in business, but I’m now wondering why this is occurring.

I seem to recall others having a similar issue.

Thanks for any wisdom anyone can provide.

There is no more Winamp pro. So, if you have features you paid for in Winamp
Pro, you should make sure that the new Winamp will still include them. For
example, I don't know if you will be able to burn CDs in the new, completely
free, version of Winamp.
