Hello.

Yes, ssd's are divided into sectors and they can have errors.  These errs have different causes, but they can still happen.  Usually a file system error is caused by windows doing something it shouldn't have.  My last fight with a file system error happened on the ssd of this machine.

Thanks,

Hello.

 I used a similar setup for many years with one document that is currently near 400 pages without a problem.  First thing I'd do in your situation is to scan your disk for errors, even if windows says it is fine make it scan anyway.  I've found an epidemic of disk errors on my machines lately, fixing them usually improves the speed.  Open up this pc, get properties on your c: drive, go to tools and run error checking on your drive.

Re: weird jaws message

It’s a message you get when you corrected a word and Word basically tells you there are actions for that word like maybe undoing the change etc.

I believe if you turn off spell check as you type you wouldn’t get this.

Hey guys:

I am using jaws beta3 2019 version with win10, (don’t know all the billing numbers); and msword I think (2016)

This also happens in msoutlook 2016 as well.

When I am typing, jaws arbitrarily says something like: “actions undo autoactions”;

First of all, what is this message,

Where is it coming from, (is it coming from the programs, or from jaws itself?);

How do I get rid of this annoying message?

If it happened only once in a while, it wouldn’t be so bad, but it is happening all the time, even when I arrow back to what I typed prior?

Is there some setting that turns on and off this sort of indicator?

Please advise as necessary?

Hi Tom.  You can check your locking code to see if it changes by going to your about JAWS option in the help menu.  It should announce the locking code.  Whenever you restart your computer, check it in the coming days to see if it is changing.  If it is, that could be the root cause of your issue.

Hi Tom.  I am using Windows 10 here along with the new JAWS Beta 3.  So far, I have not encountered the deactivation problem.  I’m wondering if JAWS is not recognizing your computer’s locking code.  You could be having that problem.  I have seen this from time to time.  If you update your authorization, it may resolve it.  You can always contact tech support and have them reset your authorization count, if you lose one.

Hello, everyone.

This morning, I experienced a very strange problem with Jaws when booting up my current windows 7 computer.

Even though my SMA is  current, and I’ve been using the latest build of Jaws 2018 for a number of months now, Jaws came up in demo mode.

I exited out of Jaws, and then re-loaded the program, and I was back in business, but I’m now wondering why this is occurring.

I seem to recall others having a similar issue.

Thanks for any wisdom anyone can provide.

Re: Trying to format a krupt usb stick

I'm not quite sure what "corrupt" means in this instance.

It is possible for thumb/jump/flash drives used to create bootable media can seem to lose a lot of the capacity they once had.  The folks who created MemTest86 have a lesser known utility, ImageUSB, that has as its primary purpose creating multiple bootable USB drives using the same ISO image at one time.  It can also be used, however, to reclaim that "lost" space on those drives that experience it by using the "Zero USB drive" option in the utility.

I've had 2 USB thumb drives that have had the "lost capacity" issue after being used to create bootable media and using ImageUSB to zero them out again has reclaimed it each time.

Hi Chris!

Huh, this is interesting.  Well, my c: drive is a solid state drive (SSD).  Does error checking appertain to an SSD as it does as regards a hard disk drive (HDD)?  Does an SSD have “sectors” as does an HDD?

Thanks,

Richard

I use MS Word 2007.  As I have begun working with a Word file that is becoming large (e.g., 20+ pages), JAWS seems to be getting increasingly sluggish and mixed-up.  Has anyone seen this before?  Might upgrading to a newer version of Word (really, MS Office) improve this; say like MS Office 2016 or even MS Office 2019?  I am not interested in MS Office 365 because I do not want to be cloud-based.  My system is Windows 7 Pro running JAWS 15, both 64 bit.  My computer is a Pentium i5 with 8 GB of RAN and >91 GB of free disk space on a 256 GB SSD.

Thanks,

Richard
