Re: soft phone companies

we used to have Accessaphone at my office and it only works with Cisco phones. It is also natoriously difficult to install, but once it is working, it is great!
Our State switched to IBM last year, and they do not offer any accessible interface, but their system will send you an email when you get a voice mail.
Accessaphone was great because it had caller ID if someone was calling your extension directly.

couple of Jaws questions

Hi,

Using: W10 Home and Jaws 2018 all with latest updates.

I vaguely remember stumbling across  some Jaws settings which allowed or stop Jaws working with the extended function keys. Can someone inform me where this setting is located?

Apart from pressing enter on n edit box, is there any other keyboard command Which will allow the manual turning on of form mode? What about a keyboard command, apart from  escape, to turn off form mode.

Thanks

Tom

Hello

I am trying to figure out if my issue is FireFox, JAWS or computer related.

After downloading FireFox 61.0.2, when I use FireFox at times it will freeze, disappear and my cpu speed will increase to 40 – 80% and sound like it is working hard. When the FireFox is closed, the cpu speed returns to normal (0 – 20%).

We have uninstalled and reinstalled FireFox and still experiencing the same issue.

Is anyone else having this  experience or any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Hi there.  Just to add to what has already been said here, if you purchase an update, it is a good idea to update your authorization.  You can find this option under the JAWS help menu.  This should update your information, and what is displayed for how many updates you have remaining, etc.  Hope this helps.

When  you purchased the SMA when exactly was that and what version of Jaws were you on at the time?

An SMA covers 2 major Jaws updates so basically it is good for two years. If you are currently on Jaws 2018 and have 1 upgrade remaining then this will cover the update to Jaws 2019 which is coming up most likely in late October as usual.

Then you will be down to 0 and $120 will get you the next two updates, they would allow you to get Jaws 2020 in the fall of 2019 and Jaws 2021 in the fall of 2020.

I believe you need to buy the SMA by the end of 2018 to get the best deal but you can probably buy it as late as September or October 2019 as long as it is before Jaws 2020 comes out, but that is something you have to confirm with FS.

If you buy it let’s say in mid December you then would have to buy another 2 years later, I always buy my next SMA more or less as soon as I use up my last update, then I won’t forget.

Sieghard

Hi Mark,

Open the Jaws context menu, press enter on, About, route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor, Jaws key + Numpad minus, go to the top of the page, and read down 1 line at a time and you'll find all your SMA info below your serial number / Locking code.

Hotkey to jump from bookmark to bookmark in PDF document in Adobe acrobat reader

Hello gang.

I’ve PDF documents with text at different parts of the document having ‘bookmark’ property associated with them.  I would like to jump from bookmark to bookmark to navigate the content of the PDF document quickly. Essentially each of these texts which are also ‘bookmarks’, act as section headings for the different sections of the document.

Is there a hot key or key stroke combo to jump from bookmark to bookmark in the PDF document?

Re: PDF file automatically goes into Edge

Christopher Zeigler

Hello to set interview reader is the default viewer four PDF go to settings on your start menu then select apps then select set file types by app or it might say select click on that or select it signed a w reader on the list then hit set as default you also might want to look in the settings while you're in default apps area and see if there's any way to change it there as well.
One other thing you can do if you can find the PDF in question selected and press Alt Enter that will take you to the file property dialog box hit choose on the general tab that will bring up a list of suggested apps select Adobe Reader on that and then hit okay or and then close the dialog box all should go well with that.
I hope this helps

PDF file automatically goes into Edge

Hello, I downloaded a PDF file from my bank’s web site. I put my cursor on the file and pressed enter. It opens the file into Microsoft Edge. Jaws cannot read anything. I even put the cursor on the file and used the Jaws OCR function and that didn’t work. Do I need to turn on or off certain settings? OR is there a way for it to go into Acrobat reader?

Re: attachments

Dan Longmore

Hi,

Under “File” in menu there should be a “Save Attachments” feature.  Or, easier  than that, tab until you land on the attachment in the mail.  Then use the ALT key and down arrow to give you a menu from which you can open or save or print the file.  I am not certain of  the print option.  Follow the prompts for saving.  JAWS should also give you key reminders.

Naomi, if you're using the latest version of JAWS, simply pressing
insert+page down should say the current page number. for earlier
versions, insert+page down won't work, you'll need to use the JAWS
cursor to find it below the menu bar.
