Issues with Groups.io e-mail being blocked (usually considered spam) by e-mail service providers

Hello All,

This is officially off-topic for the group, but as it's vital information and there has been a recent marked uptick in certain e-mail service providers blocking Groups.io messages it is important that the information be shared.   It is really, really important that if your e-mail service provider is blocking Groups.io e-mail messages, or even causing them to bounce, that you get in touch with them and scream bloody murder about it.   Until and unless enough customers make it clear that it is unacceptable to block messages from a subscription service such as Groups.io, which by definition cannot be spam, they're going to keep doing it because they have not permanently whitelisted Groups.io.

Although what follows is specific to Earthlink, as they've recently been blocking, the same principles apply no matter who your e-mail service provider might be.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earthlink issues have been under hot and heavy discussion on the Group Manager's Forum in topic:

Help: Earthlink now bouncing emails sent to *me* from Groups.io groups I own

These are just that, Earthlink issues, and one of the most recent offerings pretty much sums it up:

Tell them to visit the link below and follow directions found there. The IP address for Groups.io mail server is 66.175.222.12

https://support.earthlink.net/articles/email/email-blocked-by-earthlink.php

They can also complain to Earthlink about non-spam mail from a MAILING LIST SERVICE like Groups.io being blocked. They don't block Yahoo or GoogleGroups, so why Groups.io? The info for doing that can be found here...
https://support.earthlink.net/contact/contact.php

I suggest initiating both a live chat and a phone call. If enough do that it will get their attention. They need to point out that Groups.io is a reputable and legitimate subscription mailing list service that requires subscribers to verify their intent to subscribe by verifying their email addresses... after which the messages from various interest groups hosted by Groups.io are solicited and are NOT spam. As Shal said, "Groups.io should be whitelisted as a legit email service."

Having worked the abuse desk for a small local ISP quite some years ago, I'm aghast at the careless blocking practices being employed these days... and Gmail isn't the solution.

-------------------------------------------------------

Users are going to have to take on a more active role in this, particularly in complaining to their providers about blocking known e-mail list services that can send messages to anyone if and only if they have subscribed to get them.

Groups.io needs to be whitelisted and the more customers that complain to their e-mail service providers about this the faster it will happen.

Re: major windows 10 problem with jaws, file explorer not responding

"Not Responding" errors are, by their very nature, mysterious.   If a shutdown/restart cycle clears them, and is not needed on a very frequent basis, that is my suggested fix.  I get "not responding" not infrequently, particularly with web browsers, but sometimes with task manager and file explorer (Windows Explorer in 7 and earlier).

If it's really, really frequent, then something's likely amiss with Windows itself and repairs to Windows should be done in an attempt to fix it.

I've been following this thread... if doing so clears up the problem
that was originally described, is there a fix to prevent this from
occurring in the future? my friend is experiencing the same problem. he
ran sfc /scannow in administrator mode but no issues were encountered.
what else can he do?

he is blind, and using Windows 7 and 10 and both computers have this
problem occasionally.

And, if you have Fast Startup enabled, you must do a Restart, not a
Shutdown followed by power up cycle, to get the computer to reload
Windows 10 from disc from scratch rather than using the system
hibernation file employed by Fast Startup.

If you don't, then either a Restart or a Shutdown followed by power up
will give you a fresh loading of Windows 10 off of disc.

Re: Another version of David Moore's excellent Chrome Browser Tutorial with headings

Les Kriegler

Hi Richard and All,

Thanks Richard for doing this, as I prefer to navigate by headings. Another
method for accomplishing this in Jaws is to turn Quick Keys on with
Insert-Z. Then you can navigate with letter H through the headings. I have
noticed that if you initiate a Say All with Insert-Down arrow, that turns
off Quick Keys, so it must be invoked again with Insert-Z, a toggle by the
way and then you can navigate again by headings.

Greetings,

Since David gave blanket permission to put his tutorial out there and
everywhere, and I don't like using bookmarks in Word, I did a version with
Headings. Pressing insert+f6 brings up the headings list and you can then
arrow down and hit enter on the section you want.

I also did a tiny bit of grammar editing and one or two typos.

I put it on my web site, and here is the direct link to the word docx file:

Re: websites and buttons

As somebody else pointed out, it would really help if you could provide a link to the website where you are having this problem unless it is of course a website where you have to log in like your bank etc.

But even then if you mentioned the organization/website maybe somebody else might know more. There certainly is no generic issue where you can’t check radio buttons or checkboxes with Jaws in most browsers, but I have also come across sites where it can’t be done because of the way the website was programmed.

Hi, its just an alternative. once you focus on the button, just turn

once the focus conform, just press the space and check the action got

Navigating the Newer Versions of CCleaner with Jaws, Steps

Mike B. <mike9902@...>

Hi All,

Below are some steps I typed up for navigating the newer versions of CCleaner with JAWS.  Since CCleaner and JAWS works fine with the, Windows tab, scan then the navigation starts getting weird, the steps below start after scanning the Windows tab.
Note:  These may not be exact but, are very close and should get you by.
1. After you run a scan of the Windows tab, you can use your finger gymnastics in 2 ways to scan the Applications tab.
A. After the Windows tab scan is finished tab until you come to the Windows tab again, now switch to the, Touch cursor, Shift + Numpad Plus, now right
arrow and then left arrow to highlight the Apllication tab and press enter to select it.  Turn off the Touch cursor by tapping the Numpad Plus key twice
quickly.  Press, Alt + R, to start the scan.
B. After the Windows tab scan is finished switch to the Touch cursor, left arrow several times to the Applications tab and press enter to select.  Now,
turn the Touch cursor off and press, Alt + R, to scan.
Note: The Touch  cursor is mostly used to navigate after the Windows tab scan.
2. If you are scanning the Registry, after the Applications scan is completed press, Alt + G, to start the scan of the registry.
3. After the registry scan is completed, Shift + Tab to the list of found items, pay attention to how many items were found, you can arrow up & down this
list to uncheck any items you don't want removed or press, Control + A, to select all, tab to the delete selected items, or whatever it's called, and press
enter to start the cleaning.  You will get a dialogue asking if you wannt to save a copy of the registry before the cleaning so press, Alt + Y, to save,
press the spacebar on the confirmation dialogue now the registry cleaning process starts and it only takes a second or so.  After the cleaning is finished
now, if you route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor you can arrow up 1 time to hear how many items wer found and how many were cleaned.  For example, if
20 items were found but, you unchecked 5 of them you should hear, 15 / 20, meaning 15 of the 20 items were cleaned.  If you slected them all you should
hear, 20 / 20, meaning 20 of 20 items were cleaned.
Note: The copy of the saved registry file should be in your Documents folder.  This is a copy of the registry before it's cleaned so, if there's a problem
after the cleaning you can restore your registry with this saved file.

Hi,

What version of JAWS are you using and what Operating system, Windows 7 or Windows 10.

I have found that my banking site has links that don't display as JAWS would read it as links as it is JAVA with proper labelling.

In a lot of cases I have had to hit the + key on the numpad to route the cursor. when I do that the labelled JAVA script works and takes me to where I need to go.

I'm running Google Chrome latest version and firefox 65.0.2 with the latest version of JAWS 2019 and the January Build.

My system is fully updated.

Greetings all hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Okay I have noticed that on a couple of websites if I encounter a button that needs to be checked no matter what I do it won’t check, has anyone else had this issue.
