Re: issue with installing JAWS on windows 10. The JAWS Install has failed.

Hi Sieghard
Yes I did all that.
It seems to me that I won't be able to solve this issue.
I'm going to wait for beta 19.
Maybe the beta 19 Installer fix the 18 old installation.
Thank you.
Cheers.

Hi Mike.
Yes is a 65-bit version, and I'm trying to install the executable version.
and I don't have any other version of jaws installed.
I had the version 18, but had uninstalled a week before trying to install the 2018 version.
and I'm not using with licenses.
I'm just using the 45-minute demo mode.

thank you.

Just make sure it says “Mail, trusted Microsoft Store App”, you might have to arrow around to find it or you can of course go through the start menu and the all programs list. For me if I type Mail it’s the first thing that pops up, if I arrow down I eventually also see Outlook

Re: Notifications in Outlook2016

New Mail Alerts are also created by Outlook, at least from Outlook 2010 onward, though which versions have it on versus off by default I cannot say.

I can say that if you open Outlook help, and search on "new mail alert" you will get step by step instructions for configuring all aspects of that feature, including turning it off entirely.

Re: reading email in WLM

Mario,

Under Windows Live Mail 2012, you do not want to use the Compact View as it makes the folder tree "odd," to put it mildly.

I recommend using the One-Line View for the Message View and you can have the reading pane either off entirely or at the bottom, as you'll generally be hitting Enter to open an individual message in its own window.

I can't answer the left click bit, as I've not seen that particular quirk.

Microsoft has consistently used the terminology "conversation view" for what a lot of the rest of the world calls "threaded view.  So, when you're in the View Ribbon, under Conversations turn it on if you want threaded view, or off if you want individual messages, unthreaded.

other than using Thunderbird, I also have Windows Live Mail configured
to get my email just in case Thunderbird decides to misbehave. but:

1. the message view is not set to compact. is this the correct view to have?

2. if I press enter on an email, it does open but JAWS does not want to
read it unless I left click it. what do I have to do to get JAWS to read
after opening without having to left click (numpad / without the numlock
on)?

3. how do I sort the messages by thread instead of unthreaded?
if someone responds to someone's question, I want the replies to be
grouped together and in ascending order instead of hunting for each
message that contributes to the thread.

Hi Paul,

I don't remember all the details but it can be done from the Freedom
authorization web site. You need to have the serial number when you go
to that site and the locking code that is located in the "about"
section of the JAWS context menu.

When you enter these 2 pieces identifying you, Freedom will issue a one
time authorization number which is a long code and will need to be
copied and pasted in the appropriate box when you run the authorization
from JAWS. I've done it a few times but that was a while back and I
don't remember the exact steps but this should give what you need to get
it done.

Re: issue with installing JAWS on windows 10. The JAWS Install has failed.

Have you called Jaws support? I think this happened once to me some years ago, but I can't remember what I did. If you don't want to call Jaws support here is what I would do:
While Jaws 18 is up and running, go to the FS website and download Jaws 2018 for your system, 64 bit or 32 bit.
Save the file to the desktop
Now uninstall Jaws 18 including shared components, but leave the user settings
After the system reboots, make sure you are on the desktop with Windows Key+M and press "J", you may want to start Narrator to do this until the Jaws installer starts speaking, once it does press Control+Windows Key+Enter to exit Narrator again.
See if Jaws 2018 will install, just in case you might want to make sure you also download a Jaws 18 installer file and have it handy.
If Jaws 2018 installs I personally would not bother putting Jaws 18 back, I don't see any advantage in using it over Jaws 2018 with Windows 10. In 2 months or less Jaws 2019 will come out, a public beta will probably come in the next couple of weeks if how things were in the last few years are an indication.

Subject: issue with installing JAWS on windows 10. The JAWS Install has failed.

Hi.
someone can help?

every time I try to install the version of JAWS 2018 latest update, I
get notified with this message:
The JAWS Install has failed.

I've tried several solutions but without success...

in the freedomcientific site, I can't find anything related to this issue.
I embrace the fact that the freedomscientific Web site, is very poor in
solving problems.
  the support it's a shame ...
my system is windows 10.
the system is with the latest build 18.
some of you have the solution to solve this issue?

thank you all.
cheers.

Re: Authorisation CD and windows 10

Mario

for anyone who doesn't know, in the future, to view the contents of a
CD/DVD that normally starts running when engaged in a optical
reader/writer, hold down the left shift key on the keyboard, insert the
CD/DVD (BD) until the drive stops whirring, press the application or
shift+f10 keys, arrow down to and enter on the open command, and now you
should be able to view the disc's contents. BTW, the first item after
pressing the application/shift+f10 keys is usually the default action
when inserting the CD/DVD/BD. holding down the left shift key prevents
the CD/DVD/BD from automatically starting.

Subject: Authorisation CD and windows 10

Hi,

Ok so managed to get the problem sorted in the end. we were unable to view
the files of the authorisation CD and couldn't view the code in properties
or run the cd, but we were able to copy and paste the cd into my documents,
then from their we could view the folder contents and as advised by Mario ,
in there was a file named with the 20 digit authorisation number we needed.
I just thought I'd post back to say thanks to everyone who offered
suggestions and also to let you know how we got round the issue in case
anyone else has a similar problem in the future.

Kind regards

Paul

Hi Paul,

I don't remember all the details but it can be done from the Freedom
authorization web site. You need  to have the serial number when you go
to that site and the locking code that is  located in the "about"
section of the JAWS context menu.

When you enter these 2 pieces identifying you, Freedom will issue a one
time authorization number which is a long code and will need to be
copied and pasted in the appropriate box when you run the authorization
from JAWS.  I've done it a few times but that was a while back and I
don't remember the exact steps but this should give what you need to get
it done.

Hi,

So I'm actually asking for a friend, but she's just brought a new laptop
which is running windows 10, she has installed jaws , which is currently
running in demo mode, to activate jaws she needs her 20 digit
authorisation code, which she doesn't have, she does have her serial
number plus has an authrurisation CD, but the CD doesn't appear to work
on windows 10 , it just says permission denied when she tries to  run
the authorisation CD and she can't get the code from the properties  of
the CD either. Does anyone else know of any way to get the authorisation
number ? without contacting freedom scientific, just as we are in
Europe, not the US so it makes it  difficult to call and emailing may
take a while to get a reply  due  to time difference and the weekend
being almost here.

Thanks in advance  for any help

Paul
