Hi,
Using: W10 64 bit Home with latest updates.
While the punctuation apt continues to function normally on my system in Jaws 2018, it does not work in the 2019 beta.
Has anyone else noticed this problem with the beta?
Would it be worth attempting to install it again under the beta
Thanks

I’m wondering if anybody else is having this problem. I’m running Firefox version 62, latest version of JFW, and Windows 10. I’ll be arrowing down through a web page, and all of a sudden JAWS just stops reading. Sometimes it comes back after a few seconds, but not always. I especially notice it when reading the Boston Globe in NFB Newsline on the web.
Also when I’m using Google Docs, I’m noticing an irritating lag when I hit up or down arrow in a document.
Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

If you are on one of the later Windows 10 versions running Jaws 17 may indeed cause some problems, just my few cents worth.

Yes, when this occurs, which is often, I use my shortcut keys to get JAWS to speak and JAWS then speaks the LogOn screen information. Do you have an HP machine? VFO has never given me any great assistance in the matter. Even if I hit any key JAWS will not speak until I use the shortcut method. Like you, JAWS is set to start at logon.

Hi,
I posted yesterday about a problem I was having whereby JAWS wouldn’t speaking on the lock screen. However, JAWS did speak when I pressed any key to dismiss the lock screen and bring up the password field.
I have since disabled the lock screen, but JAWS doesn’t speak at all on the logon screen now regardless of how long I leave it. JAWS does speak when I enter the password and the desktop comes up. I have checked, and JAWS is set to load at the logon screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks a lot,

If you refer to audio ducking, I did give you the exact steps, here they are again: Open the Jaws settings Centre by pressing Jaws Key+6 Press Control+Shift+D to make sure default settings are loaded Now type the word “lower” into the search box, of course without the quotation marks Tab once to the result, Jaws should say this: 1 Search Results list box Lower audio volume of programs while JAWS speaks not checked User If this setting is checked then press the spacebar to uncheck it, then tab to OK and press the spacebar or enter. Lastly, unload and reload Jaws or simply reboot your computer and see if this helped. I hope you can follow these steps because that is about as clear as I can make it.

From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel
If you are using Windows 10 make sure audio ducking Is turned off in Jaws 2018, it could be that it is lowering the volume. To check go to settings with Jaws Key+6, press Control+Shift+D to make sure default settings are loaded and type “lower” into the search box. You will have 1 search result which says “Lower audio volume of other programs while Jaws speaks”, make sure this is unchecked.

In the body of your message, you only say 18. I am guessing you mean 19 sounds better or louder? I will have to check, but did you migrate your settings from 18 when you installed the 19 beta? Otherwise, it sounds like the volumes are set differently. Richard

Re: sending a screen shot
If you, for any you, cannot get the "Old Method" of capturing a screen shot to the clipboard for pasting into an image editing program for saving via ALT+PrtSc for windowed or just the PrtSc key for full-screen, I'd suggest you open Command Prompt elevated to admin privileges and run SFC /SCANNOW to see what comes back. These keystrokes are "baked in" to all versions of Windows up through Windows 10 and have never failed to work for me on a system that was free of corruption.
If you're on Windows 10, and WinKey+PrtSc does not result in a new screen shot being taken and automatically stored in Pictures\Screenshots and/or WinKey+ALT+PrtSc doesn't take a windowed screen shot and place it in Videos\Captures then I'd follow these instructions: -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back
