Adobe Acrobat DC Problem

Tom Behler

Hello, everyone.

For some reason, Adobe Acrobat DC is suddenly no longer reading PDF documents on my new Windows 10 computer.

The same documents are being read with no problem on my older Windows 7 machine.

Both computers are using the latest build of Jaws 2019.

I’m wondering if I need to un-install, and re-install Adobe Acrobat DC on this new Windows 10 computer.

If so, can someone give me a legitimate link via which I can get the program.

Or, are there other things anyone would suggest I check before taking this step?

Thanks very much.

Dr.  Tom Behler from Michigan

Using JAWS 2019 and Word 365 I entered the characters : and ) (without spaces) to have Word autocorrect it into the smiling face with smiling eyes emoji, as the previous example advised. Word did convert it into the emoji. When I place the cursor on the emoji JAWS announces "alt shift F10 to adjust autocorrection." This announcement can be disabled by pressing insert+V to access the JAWS Quick Settings dialog. Look for "autocorrect detection", disable it and that suppresses the announcement.

While I can see how this announcement can be annoying I personally don't want to not know when a word or phrase has been autocorrected. What I think Vispero should have is an option to have this particular notification being announced as a unique sound. It could be quick, ideally non-intrusive but distinct enough so as to let the user know that this alert means that an autocorrect took place. I may also suggest this to Brian Hartgen to see if he might feel it's worth adding to Leasey. I should enable the sounds option from within Word as I'm wondering if there is a unique sound that this option might have for autocorrect notifications.

Re: Thunderbird Issue

Morey,

I'm surprised you haven't hit this before now.   This is a Thunderbird setting (and it exists in other e-mail clients) where if the word attach or attachment is encountered when typing text, and you do not have an attachment on the message, it flags that to prevent you from forgetting to put it on to the message.

This feature can be turned off in Thunderbird.  If you open Options and go to the Composition tab there is a checkbox for Check for missing attachments that should be unchecked.

Using Jaws 2019, Windows10-1809, and Thunderbird 60.4. If I start typing the word "attachment" while sending a message, Jaws starts saying something about finding the word attachment, what would you like to do..close?? or something real close to that.

Any thought on how to remove this irritating action or how did it start, meaning what might I have done?

Thanks,

You can get rid of it by unchecking, under editing, auto correct detection. This will make Spelling error detection and grammatical error detection unavailable. Go figure!

Re: can't save a pdf file

Are you certain that it's able to be saved.   I've had a number of PDF files that allowed me to fill out form fields in them, but only for the purpose of printing them when completed.  You could not save the file with the form fields filled in.

There are others, of course, that do allow you to save them with the data filled in.  My Federal and state Tax forms are like this.
