Re: Jaws and Firefox issue - only speaking commands not reading website

According to someone else experiencing this issue who has been in correspondence with VFO about it (they never contacted me about my bug report), there will be an update rolled out for jAWS 2018 to fix this.

Yeah I get that all the time. Although occasionally it works smooth as silk but the very moment I need some time sensitive information, bang, it freezes and I have to use the task manager to end the task. GRRR! Stan B From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of JM Casey
Really, JAWS 2019 Beta; although I use JAWS 2018 and Firefox 62, there is a serious issue with JFW that causes Firefox to freeze up frequently and need to be restarted with task manager.

Hi Tracy: You need Jaws 2018 for the new Firefox to work correctly. Is that the version of Jaws you are running? Julie

[Edited Message Follows] Okay, my kids both have Dell laptops and predominately use NVDA because Jaws hates their school's website. Anyways they need to take an online test on another website and all Jaws is speaking is the keys we hit - it won't read any webpage. I know this has to be something completely stupid, but I need to get this sorted out for them to take this test.... ugh. We are all more familiar with NVDA and not Jaws which we obviously need to balance out but the kids prefer NVDA as they have no issue's with it. Thank you!

Re: Using Macrium Reflect Version 7 to Take A Full System Image Backup
It has been brought to my attention that one, and only one, dialog during the installation of Macrium Reflect, Version 7, has accessibility issues unless you use one of the various screen readers' alternate cursor methods. Two members of the Windows 10 for Screen Reader Users group have been kind enough to put together instructions for dealing with this dialog in each of the three major screen readers: JAWS, Narrator, and NVDA.
Dealing with the License Key Dialog of Macrium Reflect, Version 7, with a Screen Reader
JAWS users can use either the Jaws cursor, or the touch cursor, which is the Jaws equivalent of object navigation.
Both sets of instructions presume you are in the License Key dialog with focus on the Next button

I guess the people who have problems with auto complete not being read by Jaws should mention exactly which Outlook version they use. Also, Jonas, have you contacted Jaws support about it to see if they can figure out why a feature which is working well for almost everybody else isn’t working for you?

If I sitting on a web page, or even in a open document, is there still a keystroke to tell me on which line I am sitting? I know using the alt/delete key will tell me by Pixels. Using this method, I go up into the top left corner of document and it says, (1 1). If I then go down a line it says, meaning the alt/delete key, says (1 2) Would I then presume that the numbers would mean the larger number when going down would be the line number?? What ya think? Insert plus up arrow, the number 8 on the keypad, reads the line. Insert plus numpad 2 launches say all. The original question was ascertaining the line number, and I can't find a way to do this.

Re: Jaws and Firefox issue - only speaking commands not reading website
I'm new here so I can't be certain this has not already been addressed, but I often (kind of) "reset" JAWS by clicking Windows key + D, which takes you to the desktop. I then Tab back into Firefox or where ever I was and start over again. I feel like JAWS sometimes gets lost as to what window or cursor a user might be in at the moment when under heavy use.

Yes and yes
Ubuntu Desktop is accessible with Orca that ships on images. Push super alt S to start the screen reader. Super being the Windows key. Insert space to open Orca preferences. Ubuntu Server is accessible with espeakup apt install espeakup This loads the kernel modules speakup and speakup_soft and runs a software synth using Espeak to read the screen. numpad will navigate up and down the screen etc. Vm player is accessible. Consider Vinux if you want an accessible distro but the version current is based up on 14.04 but it still works quite well.
