Re: keystrokes for pop-ups
What version of Firefox? I'm on 62.0.3. I really can't explain why JAWS would be reporting a "Pop up" and I'm imagining that this might be how "has auto complete" is being reported for some odd reason. There is definitely no pop up. As you type characters into that search box what is displayed keeps getting more and more limited based on what you've entered (provided there's a match). For example, as I type the first five letters of "language" the display keeps changing until the only thing I have is language options. I can tab out of the search box to the Choose Language button and the checkbox related to spell checking. Re: keystrokes for pop-ups

Hi, Brian. I think I have discovered what the announcement in JAWS about a popup is. I went to Barnes and Noble, and it told me that the link for “My Account” has a popup. I didn’t know how to get the site to show me the options, so I called Customer Service. They told me that it is a link which requires hovering over the item with the mouse. I tried using the Left Mouse button on the NumPad, and it opened up the items under “My Account”. Just clicking on the link itself didn’t open the options. So I think that “Has a popup” means that it is a hover link.

At a minimum, use the startup wizard (alt+h, z from the JAWS window) to turn key echo off. You can toggle it through its four settings with insert+2.\

jaws 2018 and thinking to buy a NAS
Daan Staes <staesdaan@...>
Hello,
I am currently using jaws 2018 and want to buy a NAS. Since accessibility of the interface of the NAS is very important I send this message to the group to ask if there is someone to help me to choose the most accessible NAS system. I read Synology is a good company that makes NAS systems with cool features and a big app store. I am wondering if the interface of "disk station" is accessible and also are the extra apps also accessible. Are there other NAS systems like QNAP or Netgear also accessible? Thanks Regards Daan

hi, I can split the sound after recording so they can be panned left center or right. the problem I'm having is hearing the guitar on both sides while playing. in sonar I used to hit the Omni button to get a stereo sound through the headphones.

Hi, Brian. It’s not on a webpage. It’s in the options of Firefox.
ALT plus T, O.
Then there is an edit box which says:
Mozilla Firefox Horizontal frame Options Read Only Find in Options Edit Has Popup
Once I type in what to search for, I don’t know how to read the popup which is supposed to be there.

Re: stopping chrome speaking remaining download time
paul lemm
Hi,
Thanks Bill, I’ll see if I can use a similar technique in chrome to stop the download progress being spoken. Its handy to know for IE though, since occasionally I do get it in IE too where it speaks download progress, but its not all the time, next time it does though I’ll try your trick. Thanks again.

Hi, Paul. I don’t use chrome. Even with Internet Explorer, there have been times where I have gotten download percentages. I don’t know if Chrome works this way, but the way I stopped download percentages in IE is to press ALT plus N for the info bar, then cycle through the options with Tab. Once I do that, I stop hearing the progress.

Morning Bill,
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I still need to use jaws in other programs whilst its downloading, so turning off the speech isn’t really an option for me. thanks for the suggestion though, I think I’ll just have to revert to downloading really big files through IE, since that doesn’t give me the progress updates. Its not a big deal to have to do it this way, I just thought I’d ask in case there was a way of shutting it off in chrome.
Paul
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Bill White
Hi, Paul. I think the only way to stop the announcements is to turn off JAWS speech with INSERT plus SPACE, followed by S.
For this to work, you must go into your default configuration file for JAWS, and turn Less Speech options from Speech On Demand to Mute Speech.

Hi,
I tried the jaws quick settings for chrome with jaws key and V, I managed to find the progress bar option, I’ve changed it to silent , but I’m still getting the ‘alert downloading, 2 hours left’ message. Thanks for the idea none the less, any other suggestions that might stop the announcements?

From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Van Lant, Robin via Groups.Io
When in Chrome, do Insert V to open the JAWS settings for Chrome. Near the bottom of the tree view, you’ll find the progress bar verbosity settings. You can either turn them off or I think you can change how often they let you know of the progress.

hi,
wondering if anyone can help, I use chrome as my main web browser , but when I download files every minute or there about jaws updates me on the download progress, this isn’t a problem for small files, but if I want to download something that will take an hour or two constantly getting the download update gets a little annoying. Is there any setting I can alter to stop jaws constantly reading the download progress?
