sounds like instead of Outlook sending the emails out after activating
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
the send button, it is sending the emails to the outgoing folder first, effectively giving an opportunity to not send one or make changes before their sent on their way. . since I don't use Outlook, my suggestion is that there may very well be a setting to disable that behavior.

Michael, I have a similar problem sometimes with sending email from
Windows Live Mail. I add my signature and hit Alt+S to send the message
and it just sits there. My computer appears to be frozen, not allowing me
to go to any other application. I open Task Manager and tab to “Jump To”
on Live Mail, then Alt+Tab to my message and hit Alt+S and now it will go like
it is supposed to. This seems to happen about 50% of the time. I am
running JAWS 18.03 and Windows 7 and Office 2007.

The main support page for this keyboard is: https://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/keyboard-k360 Going to the Downloads page for the K360 shows there's a specific program you use with the keyboard to program it called, SetPoint. This program is also mentioned in the Quick Start Guide, which documents the pre-programmed functions for the enhanced F-keys, listing what Fn+ with each F-Key does. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 If you remove all the homosexuals and homosexual influences from what is generally regarded as American culture, you are pretty much left with Let's Make a Deal. ~ Fran Lebowitz

Re: 6
Based on what you have said, it sounds like the login credentials required for your outgoing (SMTP) server are not correct. Outlook tries to automatically send upon exit (or at least it does by default) and the messages you're getting indicate it's not sending because it cannot send.
Double check that the outgoing server settings in Outlook correspond to what your e-mail service provider says they should be. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 If you remove all the homosexuals and homosexual influences from what is generally regarded as American culture, you are pretty much left with Let's Make a Deal. ~ Fran Lebowitz

Re: Jaws 2018 an Excel cell reading.
Alan Robbins
This can be tricky. One thing I’ve done when faced with this is press F2, as you do, then select all, paste into notepad, then select from there what I want. Another thing you could do is arrow to the cell, allow jaws to read it, then do jaws key, then space bar, then H. This displays last several things Jaws said and copy from there what you want.

Jaws 2018 an Excel cell reading.
Daniele Casarola
Hi,
my name is Daniele, from Italy. I use Jaws since a short period, so I'm pretty new to this world,I've studied a lot so I hope my question are not too much noob questions. Thanks in advance for reading. During my workflow I use Microsoft Excel Home and Student 2016, Italian version. My Jaws version is 2018 italian language. I often need to copy text content of a cell in Excel. What I do is to navigate using arrow keys to a cell. Jaws gives me correctly audio feedback of the cell content. Then I press F2 to edit the cell because I need to copy some content of the cell, not the whole content. Using CTRL Left Right Arrow and CTRL SHIFT Left Right Arrow I navigate the text of the cell and I select the part of text I need. The problem is that each time I press the combination of keys above, audio feedback is always the whole content of the cell. So I don't know where is the cursor when I move and what I'm selecting. Thanks a lot for any help. Daniele.

Sieghard, Well said. I’m quoting your last line here for context: “this can often also be beneficial since the larger company may eventually incorporate good aspects of the competition into their own product and with Microsoft stepping up development of Narrator and with NVDA doing a good job it is not like Jaws is without competition.” Especially with Doug Geoffray being hired in 2017 to head up the Narrator project…For those who don’t know, Doug Geoffray was the G in GW Micro and the main developer of Window-Eyes, and Vocal-Eyes for DOS before that, and other great tech for the blind even before that.
Also, look at the companies Apple has bought up and incorporated into iOS.

Yes, this does seem to be the way the world works now, it is the same in my industry which is outdoor and hunting/shooting. Well-known brands like North Face, Icebreaker Merino clothing, Arcteryx and so on all exist as a brand, but they have all been bought by large corporations who own sometimes dozens of brands and often even competing brands. North Face, for example is owned by Vanity Fare Corporation, an American worldwide apparel and footwear company founded in 1899, they recently bought Icebreaker which back in the mid 90's started the merino wool revolution in outdoor apparel after in the 80's everybody was into Polypropelin and Fleece and the synthetic materials were praised to heaven. They also own Smartwool which when both were independent companies were direct competitors. They also own Jann Sport Packs, Eastpak, Timberland shoes and they used to have a lingerie line/division which they sold to Fruit of the Loom. As soon as somebody starts a small company, designs a unique and in the end successful product it seems to be just a matter of time until they are bought out by some big guy. In the hotel industry a few large corporations now own most of the familiar hotel brands such as Best Western, Hilton, Delta, Holiday Inn and so on. In this thread some of the Jaws bashers kept pointing out that Jaws may not even be around 10 years for now and of course nobody knows, but they are certainly doing anything right from a business point of view and I have a sense that they are a well-run company unlike Greyhound, for example. Yes, I know this isn't even Apples and Oranges, it's Apples and nails comparing those organisations, but a company is either well run and successful or poorly run and in decline. Greyhound recently pulled completely out of Canada except for some routes in the east and one route from Vancouver to Seattle and while they say it's because people nowadays either drive or fly, a lot of it is also because they just couldn't be bothered to change with the times and offer a modern bus experience. There was just now an article on CBC News about a german bus company called Phlixbus who now is considering coming into Canada to take over inter-city bus travel. They are owned by 3 mid-thirties German entrepreneurs who started the business not all that long ago and they are now in 28 countries including California and some other States and are quickly becoming the global dominance in bus travel. I don't want to go too much into the details, but they don't even own their busses but partner with existing bus companies and are more of a tech company providing the logistics similar to how Uber doesn't own their cars but uses people with their own vehicles to drive for them. Vispero seems in my opinion to be a company who has a clear vision of where they want to be, yes, those who used Window Eyes for 20 years are sad that it's gone, but buying up a smaller competitor to shut them down is also normal business practice and it makes good sense. While competition is healthy this can often also be beneficial since the larger company may eventually incorporate good aspects of the competition into their own product and with Microsoft stepping up development of Narrator and with NVDA doing a good job it is not like Jaws is without competition.

Angel, VFO is the conglomerate that bought Freedom Scientific and a couple other companies several years ago, but kept the individual company names. Then, they added AI Squared. AI Squared had recently bought out/merged with GW Micro; so VFO then owned JAWS, Window-Eyes, ZoomText, Optelec and I think something else. STILL, they kept the individual companies identities in tact. Then, as many of us still mourn, they got rid of Window-Eyes and soon after that pretty much got rid of Magic and made ZoomText their magnifier and JAWS their only screen Reader, and also made Fusion now a combined JAWS and ZoomText instead of ZoomText and Window-Eyes which it was with AI Squared. Now, they bought some other company whose name escapes me and rebranded themselves as Vispero. But, still, all the individual companies have their own name and function. Welcome to the world of the conglomerate take over. The same thing has happened and is happening in the media world. Radio stations are owned by a handful of companies now when 30 or 40 years ago, many more were independantly owned, or were part of a very small group. HTH Richard

Reading out page numbers
James Lockwood <lockwoodnd@...>
In window eyes whenever I would hit control page down I would move to the next page in a document. Window eeyes would say page to page 3 etc. When I first install jaws 2018 a few weeks ago after resetting my PC it was doing that. Now it’s not. When I move to the next page either by the arrow keys or page down command Josh never indicate I am on a different page. Is there a verbosity setting that is preventing this from being read? I also have 2019 installed it is not doing it either. Thank you for the help

As I said, if the F Keys work as expected then pressing FN along with various Function keys will probably do things like mute, turning volume up or down, maybe change brightness etc. If you maybe provided the brand and model of your keyboard others who have the same keyboard could give you a more relevant answer. Essentially you can think of the FN key like a sort of shift or modifier key, it is typically used with the function keys and it causes a function key to perform a function different from that which it does when pressed by itself.

That depends on the keyboard and how it is configured. I bought a Logitech K780 which out of the box required you to press the FN key if you wanted to use a function key when using the keyboard with a Windows PC. If you pressed a function key without the FN key it would do system functions like increase or decrease screen brightness, turn the TouchPad on or off, raise or lower the volume, mute the sound etc. For example, in Office applications F12 opens the older style Save As dialogue or in Jaws the Jaws key+F11 speaks the time, Jaws Key+F7 brings up a list of links on a webpage. So, if I wanted F12 I had to press FN+F12, if I wanted Jaws to speak the time I had to press FN+Jaws Key+F11 etc. Now, try pressing the Jaws Key (Insert on the Numpad) and FN all the way across on the left and then F7 to bring up a list of links, maybe if your fingers are a foot long you can do it. I had to download the Logitech Options application which allows me to check a little checkbox which changed this so that when I use the keyboard for Windows the Function Keys just do what they should do without having to press FN. Now if I want to press F1, F2 or F3 which are the keys which switch the keyboard to my iPhone (F2) or Apple TV (F3) or if I want to lower or increase the volume which is done with F11 and F12 I have to press the FN key, but since I don't do this as often I don't mind and if I press F2 (when I use the keyboard for my PC I have to press FN+F2) to switch to my iPhone then once it has switched I don't need to press the FN key anymore since the keyboard is smart enough to know when it is connected to a PC or to an iPhone or something else.
