Re: Covering the Cost of Blindness Technology
Man, I don’t want to be a Debbie downer, but no, this doesn’t’ sound sketchy at all… As far as the cost of blindness related technology. While prices for some stuff can still be eye watering, the trend has indeed gone down. Vispero’s new pricing model being the most recent example of that. Despite Gerald’s reflexive “The Sky is Falling”, I’m sure the Vispero folks scratch padded their new structure and after all their number crunching, they must have been satisfied enough to go forward. Just spitballing, $90 a month as opposed to one shot deals of $900 with $60 yearly SMAs after that may give them a more solid and consistent revenue stream. Let folks catch up and give even other people the chance to dip their toes into the Jaws world and probably end up retaining a lot of them when it comes time to renew. Who knows, maybe between NVDA’s improvements and Microsoft’s Narrator push, this was the competition that was necessary to finally break down that initial price barrier for acquiring Jaws. Newer and cheaper Braille displays are on the market, OCR solutions aren’t only confined to K1000 anymore. I mean, you could get by with the KNFBReader Windows app that cost $20. ABBY FineReader too. This isn’t even mentioning the iOS/mobile stuff. Stuff sure isn’t suddenly cheap, but man, it’s not how it used to be before where unless you had access to a governmental program, had a family well off enough to pay for it, maybe pawned off your soul to get financing to buy a piece of tech or could play with it until you graduated out of school you were more or less straight out of luck.

I am trying to print mailing labels using the Labels creator in MS Word from Office 2007. I have set up the template using the product number. The labels are supposed to have 10 rows and 3 columns, but I keep getting 9 rows with the 10th row appearing on page 2. I thought that by using the product number, the formatting would be done automatically. How do I get rid of the page break, so all of the labels appear on the same page? I have even tried to adjust the margins, but still no joy.

I used to have Outlook set this way, so I could batch my emails to help the slow Internet I had at the time. I believe the solution was to first press alt + s to "send it to the outbox, then control + m would trigger a complete Outlook refresh, including sending out the contents of the outbox. You can also set Outlook to send out messages without need for the extra control m command.

Michael, I have a similar problem sometimes with sending email from
Windows Live Mail. I add my signature and hit Alt+S to send the message
and it just sits there. My computer appears to be frozen, not allowing me
to go to any other application. I open Task Manager and tab to “Jump To”
on Live Mail, then Alt+Tab to my message and hit Alt+S and now it will go like
it is supposed to. This seems to happen about 50% of the time. I am
running JAWS 18.03 and Windows 7 and Office 2007.

Hi!
I have an acer laptop which came with the function keys working
as normal.
The last laptop i had a lenova I had to get someone to go into
the bio's to fix it that the function keys behaved as normal.
You've got to get sighted help for this.

Which I hate and which
is why I changed it on my Logitech K780 keyboard so that the
F Keys work by themselves as expected. My Asus laptop
fortunately had the regular F Key functions without having
to do anything, but I have yet to see a laptop where this
can't be changed, you may need sighted help for it as in
some cases it may be something in the BIOS, you would have
to find out from the manual of your laptop how it's done.
If you want to press the f numbers you
have to press the fn key.
in laptop you want to press Jaws key with
f4 key to quit Jaws you press the Jaws key in conjunction
with the fn key and f4 to quit Jaws.

That depends on
the keyboard and how it is configured.
I bought a
Logitech K780 which out of the box required you to
press the FN key if you wanted to use a function key
when using the keyboard with a Windows PC.
If you pressed a
function key without the FN key it would do system
functions like increase or decrease screen brightness,
turn the TouchPad on or off, raise or lower the
volume, mute the sound etc.
For example, in
Office applications F12 opens the older style Save As
dialogue or in Jaws the Jaws key+F11 speaks the time,
Jaws Key+F7 brings up a list of links on a webpage.
So, if I wanted
F12 I had to press FN+F12, if I wanted Jaws to speak
the time I had to press FN+Jaws Key+F11 etc.
Now, try pressing
the Jaws Key (Insert on the Numpad) and FN all the way
across on the left and then F7 to bring up a list of
links, maybe if your fingers are a foot long you can
do it.
I had to download
the Logitech Options application which allows me to
check a little checkbox which changed this so that
when I use the keyboard for Windows the Function Keys
just do what they should do without having to press
FN.
Now if I want to
press F1, F2 or F3 which are the keys which switch the
keyboard to my iPhone (F2) or Apple TV (F3) or if I
want to lower or increase the volume which is done
with F11 and F12 I have to press the FN key, but since
I don't do this as often I don't mind and if I press
F2 (when I use the keyboard for my PC I have to press
FN+F2) to switch to my iPhone then once it has
switched I don't need to press the FN key anymore
since the keyboard is smart enough to know when it is
connected to a PC or to an iPhone or something else.
HI,
I
got a new keyboard and it has a FM key.
What
does it do?
Thanks,
Pastor

Based on what you have said, it sounds like the login credentials required for your outgoing (SMTP) server are not correct. Outlook tries to automatically send upon exit (or at least it does by default) and the messages you're getting indicate it's not sending because it cannot send. Double check that the outgoing server settings in Outlook correspond to what your e-mail service provider says they should be. --

Re: Jaws 2018 an Excel cell reading.
This can be tricky. One thing I’ve done when faced with this is press F2, as you do, then select all, paste into notepad, then select from there what I want. Another thing you could do is arrow to the cell, allow jaws to read it, then do jaws key, then space bar, then H. This displays last several things Jaws said and copy from there what you want. Al

I use Jaws since a short period, so I'm pretty new to this world,I've studied a lot so I hope my question are not too much noob questions. Thanks in advance for reading.
During my workflow I use Microsoft Excel Home and Student 2016, Italian version. My Jaws version is 2018 italian language. I often need to copy text content of a cell in Excel.
What I do is to navigate using arrow keys to a cell. Jaws gives me correctly audio feedback of the cell content. Then I press F2 to edit the cell because I need to copy some content of the cell, not the whole content. Using CTRL Left Right Arrow and CTRL SHIFT Left Right Arrow I navigate the text of the cell and I select the part of text I need. The problem is that each time I press the combination of keys above, audio feedback is always the whole content of the cell. So I don't know where is the cursor when I move and what I'm selecting.
Thanks a lot for any help.

I also have this situation. It appears that somehow a maximum of 13 is the count in any Folder where I have many additional files.
If I pres Enter + T it reads the file name and whatever it's place in 13. And, when I press Enter + Tab I hear the same.
Thanks.
