Then you did not have Notepad++ from the source, https://notepad-plus-plus.org/.  There is absolutely nothing inappropriate nor unusual about their uninstall dialogs.  I get asked if I want to keep my custom settings, and that's it.  It just finishes the uninstall without any fanfare.  (Just uninstalled v7.9.1)

This is a professional grade open-source tool that's been around for ages.  They're not pulling any stunts that would tarnish their reputation at uninstall.

Amen to that!  It is really a tool targeted at programmers, for the most part, and it's an incredible tool for its target demographic, and can often be really confusing overkill for those outside it.

Yes.

But if your keyboard has a number pad it's much easier to turn Num Lock on, do your calculations using the number pad (where the enter key becomes equals when it's in number pad mode), then take Num Lock off afterward to restore the typical screen reader functions.

It's a grand pain to use the number row numbers and operators as opposed to the number pad ones if you are using a keyboard with a number pad.

Just type each number and after each number use the keystroke shift equals for the plus sign. Once you’ve added together all of the numbers just hit enter and you’ll hear the answer.

regarding "How do I keep numbers from being included in the
document when I hit the return key",

press Alt for the menu bar,
right arrow to and down arrow on Settings.
enter on Preferences, which should be already chosen.
you might land on a close button, so just shift+tab once.
down arrow to the Margins/Border/Edge category,
tab to Line Number Display check box and if it is checked, press spacebar to uncheck it.

incidentally, there is a setting to have line numbers or not when the document is printed.

shift+tab back to the categories,
down arrow to the print category,
tab to Print line number check box, and press spacebar to check or uncheck as desired.

navigate to and spacebar on the close button. I'm not sure if it is necessary, but it may also save the changes before closing the preferences dialog.

I don’t think theme is impacting it. I have had mine set to Colorful and just changed it to Dark gray and don’t’ find a JAWS performance difference. Not sure why you are dealing with that issue. I’ll keep watching for a similar issue.

Most decent text editors will allow you to use markup language.
NoteTab Pro, Word, and perhaps Notepad++.
I do this with Word and NoteTab Pro all the times.
Word uses small letters, like ^p for hard returns, hwhile NoteTab Pro uses capital letters, ^P.
But, NotePad\++ is so much more than a basic text editor that if you don't need all those extra features, that is lacking a spell checker, then HJPad will do the trick.

I don't think NoteTab Pro is available any longer.

The nice thing though about notepad++, which I don't know if Jart does, is that you can search for \r and \n carriage return characters to remove excess blank lines.
Sometimes when I convert a PDF, I get spaces of as many as 10 blank lines throughout the document.
Plus, you can find and replace all documents within a folder with notepad++.
There's lots of other good features for using it.

Just type each number and after each number use the keystroke shift equals for the plus sign. Once you’ve added together all of the numbers just hit enter and you’ll hear the answer.

Are you using the Windows calculator? If so, what exactly are you wanting to do?

Hi all,

I understand this question is too simple for you all, but I would need instructions how to use calculator with JAWS for simple calculations. I am using latest JAWS and Windows 10.

Cheers,

I wanted to turn it off so I could listen to game day audio.

However, I have gone back to Microsoft Edge.

I like dthat better.

There is no combo box in Settings. Once in Settings do a Jaws search for "Shield" or bring up the links list and look for it. Activate the link, then use the combo box quick nav key and set it from "Standard" which is the default to "Disable". However, why would you want to turn off one of the features which partly is why Brave is so fast and considered a browser with good privacy protection?

This, by the way, is virtually identical in all Chromium based browsers whether it's Google Chrome, Edge or Brave.

And, if it is really Jaws 18, the numbering of Jaws releases changed to 2018, 2019, 2020, and now 2021.

Windows 10 works great with the last 3 releases, I’m not sure about 2018.

Jaws 18 is too old to be reliable with the latest versions of Windows 10, Office and browsers and I would highly recommend you try and upgrade to the latest version of Jaws. After all, Jaws 18 was released in the fall of 2016 which is over 5 years ago and that was only a year after Windows 10 was first released at the end of July of 2015.

I love the Brave browser.  For some reason, unknown to me, I am unable to hear, using Jaws 18, and Windows 10, what I type into Microsoft Edge.  Without tabbing first and tabbing back to what it was I typed.

With all my other browsers this isn’t a problem.  Sent from Mail for Windows 10
