Lorena, reinstall PMD if you have the installer or if the version is
earlier than 2.1, download a fresh copy of the PMD and install it.

worked. You might want to try a restart, or reinstall PMD.

Hi all.
Again, I have done as recommended, and copied the URL to clipboard.
The URL is below.
I tried this in PMD and it says it is an invalid URL. I then copied the
URL and tried it in the W/Run dialog and it works just fine...HMM
Before I start PMD, i click applications and run as administrator, just
to be sure on that end.
Maybe I should Unload and reload PMD and see what happens.
Any other thoughts helpful.

I agree, in the context menu it's missing many of the items that was in the menu, like "Open file location", "pin to task bar", & others I can not remember right now!

My view is, just because something can be done in Windows, it isn’t necessarily beneficial to do that thing. I haven’t seen any advantages to pinning items to the start menu. For screen reader users, I am a big fan of pinning things to the task bar under certain conditions, and of using the desktop to launch programs. These are more efficient ways.

Any contrary viewpoints?

Re: If I pin a program to start, how can I get to it using Jaws?

Van Lant, Robin

I, too, pin to the Task bar in Windows 10.  I used to create shortcuts to desktop icons, but my work laptop requires admin rights to do this now.  I’ve also found recently that shortcuts don’t work as consistently as they did before, unless my focus is on the desktop.  Pressing Windows T for the Task Bar then the first letter of the program I want has become second-nature in recent months.

Hi. I am on the latest Jaws 2018 update and if I look at the Windows update, it says one update ready to install, but no download or restart button. I tried the touch cursor, but I get no different result.

Anyone else seeing this one? very strange.

I am on build 579 of the 1709 version.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Chrome and Pontes Issue fixed

Morey Worthington

Morning all.

With very much effort put forth by you nice people, the issue I was having with Pontes Media  Downloader and Windows 1803 has been solved.

There was a update to Windows 1803, on this computer earlier this week which I installed.

I was using version 1.2 of PMD and Windows 1803 decided not to play nice withit, so I downloaded and installed version 2.1 of PML and all is fine. Maybe this might help other people with similar app issues after latest Windows update.

Thanks,

Morey Worthington

Thanks for your help.

Subject: windows update problem installing

Hi Morey:
Press Alt D and this will move focus to the address bar where the URL is displayed. It is already highlighted so you can press Ctrl C to copy it to the clipboard.

Hi all.

Using Chrome, Jaws 2018. I went to Youtube Site to play song I wanted.

The song played fine, but now the question.

How does a person go about finding what the URL is, so that I may copy to a clipboard for future use?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks both, I didn’t know about either of these options. Actually Cristóbal the ctrl, shift tab is quite a nice key combination since you can get to it with just one hand, which makes it a nice quick and easy way to flip between folders and my mail, , but I needed first to do the alt f1 suggestion CathyAnne mentioned to get it to show the folders , but now they are showing, using your ctrl, shift and tab method it feels just like outlook2010 which is what I’ve been used to for so long, so many thanks to you both.

Well hey . . . You learn something new every day. I was dealing with this problem since I think yesterday. It was driving me crazy on my desktop. I find the control plus shift plus tab much more convenient than the control plus y command and since I have six different emails configured in my Outlook 2016, I can easily switch through my various inboxes in the favorites section so much faster.

You’re the bomb.

The Outlook 2016 folder list can be hidden, minimized and maximized. If you accidentally press ALT-F1, you enter this rotation.

If the folder list disappears, press ALT-F1 until you can navigate to the folder list.

Hi Everyone,

So I’ve been using outlook 2010 for years, but yesterday upgraded to outlook 2016. Now in outlook 2010 when in your list of messages you could just press shift and tab and it would take you to a tree view where you could select which folder or email account you wanted to view. Now in outlook 2016 when I press shift and tab it just says current mail box, pressing up and down just takes me to the  search box. How do you view other folders or email accounts using outlook 2016 and is there a way of getting back that tree view  from outlook 2010 which  listed all folders and email accounts .

As ever thanks in advance for any help

Hi, Morey. I just tried the URL you gave with my version of PMD, and it worked.

Re: Chrome and URL help

Dean Martineau <topdot@...>

Well, I had some undetermined problem with the first search result, but I got the second and third results downloaded and converted in the way described. As has already been mentioned, when you open Pontes Media Downloader, or switch to it, it grabs the current URL on the clipboard, so you need only press the download button.

With that first result, I played the video, pressed Ctrl¡l to highlight the address bar, (I imagine alt+d would have worked,) copied the URL from there, went to Pontes Media Downloader and downloaded it. I don't know why copying the link from the list of results didn't work, but sometimes you just have to work around anomalies.

Morey, using any browser you like, you should be able to simply press alt+d
which puts focus on and selects the URL. then you can copy it to the
windows clipboard and start Pontes Media Downloader. PMD should be able
to grab it from the clipboard without having to actually pasting the URL
in to PMD. in which case, you should hear at least 2, if not 3 or 4,
popping sounds, then press tab to the format you want, arrow down or up
to MP3, press tab to and spacebar on the download button.

if you're still having trouble, can you post the URL that you used?

Hi Dean. As you suggested, I did get the URL copied to clipboard, then
went into Pontes Media Downloader but as before that URL was already in
edit field. So, I deleted the one which was there and installed into
field. Clicked on download and it said improper URL, could not download.
I tried it on song...Runaway...Del Shannon aand went through same
procedure and Media Downloader said invalid URL.
I just had a Windows 10 update yesterday, maybe some change in there?
Try doing the Runaway Song please, and maybe you can figure out how to
get it to change to MP3...Thanks.
