Hi,

Using: W10 64 bit Home with latest updates.

While the punctuation  apt  continues to function normally on my system in Jaws 2018, it does not work in the 2019 beta.

Has anyone else noticed this problem with the beta?

Would it be worth attempting to install it again under the beta

Thanks

o.k. the version of windows 7 32bit I am using is
6.1 (build 7601: service pack1) and the windows
10 64bit version is 1803 (os build 17134.285)
looks like I may need to do a check for updates, thanks.

I’m wondering if anybody else is having this problem.

I’m running Firefox version 62, latest version of JFW, and Windows 10.

I’ll be arrowing down through a web page, and all of a sudden JAWS just stops reading. Sometimes it comes back after a few seconds, but not always.

I especially notice it when reading the Boston Globe in NFB Newsline on the web.

Also when I’m using Google Docs, I’m noticing an irritating lag when I hit up or down arrow in a document.

Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

If you are on one of the later Windows 10 versions running Jaws 17 may indeed cause some problems, just my few cents worth.

Do you have to unload JFW, then use the shortcut to load it again? I

JFW doesn't start speaking till the desktop is loaded.

From what I can tell, JFW only will give tech support for the current
version. I e-mailed them regarding an issue I have with Word 2016 and
JFW17 and was told they don't support JFW17, and that I should get the

I posted yesterday about a problem I was having whereby JAWS wouldn't
speaking on the lock screen. However, JAWS did speak when I pressed any
key
to dismiss the lock screen and bring up the password field.

I have since disabled the lock screen, but JAWS doesn't speak at all on the

set to load at the logon screen.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you refer to audio ducking, I did give you the exact steps, here they are again:

Open the Jaws settings Centre by pressing Jaws Key+6

Press Control+Shift+D to make sure default settings are loaded

Now type the word “lower” into the search box, of course without the quotation marks

Tab once to the result, Jaws should say this:

1 Search Results list box

Lower audio volume of programs while JAWS speaks not checked

User

If this setting is checked then press the spacebar to uncheck it, then tab to OK and press the spacebar or enter.

Lastly, unload and reload Jaws or simply reboot your computer and see if this helped. I hope you can follow these steps because that is about as clear as I can make it.

If you are using Windows 10 make sure audio ducking Is turned off in Jaws 2018, it could be that it is lowering the volume.

To check go to settings with Jaws Key+6, press Control+Shift+D to make sure default settings are loaded and type “lower” into the search box.

You will have 1 search result which says “Lower audio volume of other programs while Jaws speaks”, make sure this is unchecked.

When I was using jaws 2018 I setup all my speech and jaws pitch and etc like I have on jaws 18  but jaws 2018 isn’t loud enough for me to hear with my hearing aid  so I had to turns up the speaker volume up louder to hear better . Then 2 day later I switch back to jaws 18 it was too loud I had to turns down the speaker volume to hear jaws better so there is something strange I have to turns up louder on jaws 2018  less than jaws 18 !! I don’t hasve jaws 2019

In the body of your message, you only say 18. I am guessing you mean 19 sounds better or louder?

I will have to check, but did you migrate your settings from 18 when you installed the 19 beta? Otherwise, it sounds like the volumes are set differently.

Simply because it ships with the OS, is virtually certain to be reinstalled at the next feature update, and does nothing but take up a bit of disc space if you don't use it.

If someone is in a situation, which is rare these days, where disc space is a concern then removing apps that ship with the OS could make sense, and it will have to be repeated.  Otherwise, it makes far more sense to just let them lie dormant.  There are thousands of features of Windows that you (any you, including me) never use that involve code that's still there, lying dormant, but you never see people trying to remove those.

Hmm, perhaps the app was re-installed. Ah Microsoft.

Your full screenshots will work, but not the one that uses ALT plus Winkey

hmmm, I cannot seem to get the screen shot function to work on either
windows 732 bit or windows 10 64 bit. I have pressed all kinds of
combinations of alt, ctrl, and windows keys along with the print screen key
and get no results anywhere, lol! Maybe I am not holding my mouth correctly,
lol!

I repeat:

Under Windows 10, as of Version 1803, you can take both a full screen
screen shot with WinKey+PrtSc, and the resulting screen shot will be
saved in Pictures\Screenshots, and a windowed screen shot with
WinKey+Alt+PrtSc, which on the vast majority of machines I've done it
WinKey+Alt+on
still gets saved in Videos\Captures.

You'd do it if you thought it wasn't needed.
I don't use Xbox, so why would I want an Xbox app?
As it was, when I learned that it took window screenshots, I was a little
miffed that I had done it, as that seems like a feature I might want.
However, when I use the command -- it still works. Maybe there's more to
this than the xbox app simply taking the shots.

Re: sending a screen shot

If you, for any you, cannot get the "Old Method" of capturing a screen shot to the clipboard for pasting into an image editing program for saving via ALT+PrtSc for windowed or just the PrtSc key for full-screen, I'd suggest you open Command Prompt elevated to admin privileges and run SFC /SCANNOW to see what comes back.  These keystrokes are "baked in" to all versions of Windows up through Windows 10 and have never failed to work for me on a system that was free of corruption.

If you're on Windows 10, and WinKey+PrtSc does not result in a new screen shot being taken and automatically stored in Pictures\Screenshots and/or WinKey+ALT+PrtSc doesn't take a windowed screen shot and place it in Videos\Captures then I'd follow these instructions:
