Shortcut keys disappearing windows 10
Richard Turner
I’m cross posting this to the two Jaws groups.
After installing Jaws 2019, and as far as I know, that is the only change I have made, the shortcuts on my desktop like to Jaws, Outlook, Word, for which I had defined shortcut keys like control+alt+j, control+alt+w, etc., have stopped working. When I right click on one and select properties, the shortcut key is no longer editable, so I cannot replace or repair them. Windows 10 home 64 bit, Jaws 2019 and 2018. But, it seems to have happened after issues arose with Jaws 2019, which I am hoping is just a cowinkiedink, otherwise known as a coincidence. . Anyone else seen this and have a clue what to do? I have tried searching the web and come up empty so far.

Mike:
I can keep this suggestion in mind, but I am not just having problems with Word.
I’m also having similar reading issues with Outlook 2016, so I’m thinking this might be more of a Jaws issue than anything else.
I have written to Freedom Scientific Tech Support about this, so will see what they say.
If they give me any suggestions that solve the issue, I’ll definitely post to the list.

Hi Tom,
I don't know if this will help but, if you go into Word options/ Advanced tab and tab to, Disable hardware graphics acceleration check box, and if this unchecked, check it, tab to, okay, press enter to save / close. Now, see if this helps any. Take care. Mike. Hi. I actually recall seeing this option while I was using Chrome. However, when I copied an entire article to the clipboard I was disappointed to see that the majority of the article was never copied, even though I had selected all of the desired text.
I have been told that the only browser where this feature works reliably is Internet Explorer, which is not a browser that I would prefer to use. David Goldfield, Assistive Technology Specialist

JAWS 2019: JAWS often speaks version number when navigating or opening some dialogs
David Goldfield <david.goldfield@...>
Hi. I'm using JAWS 2019 on Windows 10 Pro. At times when opening a JAWS dialog I often will hear JAWS announce the full version number of the JAWS program before I hear the prompt of the dialog which I am expecting. This version information is the same information you will hear if you open the JAWS window and press insert+up arrow to read the current line. It does not happen often and so it is very difficult to reproduce. Has anybody else noticed this issue?

Odd Issue: JAWS 2019 Sound When Pressing Insert+Space Frequently Disappears
David Goldfield <david.goldfield@...>
Hello. I am using JAWS 2019 with Windows 10 Pro. I am finding that the short sound which is heard when pressing insert+space frequently disappears. If I switch to another sound scheme or to another speech profile the problem seems to be fixed and the sound is once
again heard. However, after a while it is no longer heard again and I need to switch profiles again in order for it to play. My default synthesizer is Eloquence. If I switch voice profiles to Microsoft Mobile the problem is fixed and it stays fixed for a while
when I switch back to Eloquence. Has anybody else seen this behavior? --

Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,
A family member has given me permission to use her Windows 10 machine to see how I like it. It doesn’t have a screen reader on it at the moment. I have the Login info, but is there a way to turn on Narrator immediately after Powering it on, i.e., before logging in to the computer? She is travelling at the moment, and I don’t have sighted assistance here for a while.
Also, how can I review Narrator commands from my PC running JAWS before I attempt this on the Windows 10 machine?
Thanks in advance. Keith

If he pays $90 per year for 30 years the total cost is the same, however, the first method involves laying out $900 up front and one is losing the interest he could have earned on the original outlay. As I have been using this product since the mid 80's, it is far more economical for me to keep the SMA current. If I were a new customer, I'd definitely go with the yearly license. Ron
