My Thinkpad does not have an insert key on it so I think that I just have to navigate to the attachments button in order to get to the attachment, but I am working with someone who is a Jaws beginner and she doesn’t seem to have an insert key on her computer either so I was just trying to see if there was an alternate method for doing this that would be easier for her.

Re: Tables appearing in emails

Van Lant, Robin

I find that emails from Facebook and other companies often use tables to format the message.  Can’t say for sure, but I wonder if a setting got changed.  There was some setting I changed for Outlook to tell JAWS now to announce the tables.   Go to quick settings with JAWS V and arrow down to the tree view for Tables.  There are three settings under that header that you might test to see if it makes it gets you what you want.

It doesn’t matter if I’m using Jaws2018 or 2019 and for some reason in the last few days many emails I’m getting have all these tables with no information. Did Jaws make a change that is causing the tables to appear? I never saw so many emails that suddenly have all these tables with no information. I should say for me many of the tables don’t have any information. Thanks, Kevin

For the time being, if you need to use Hangouts, you need to use the interfaces that are currently available.  Hangouts isn't entirely dead, it's the way it's served up.

Hello,

I am learning to work with google hangouts

On ios, it works great but on windows, with google chrome and jaws 19, I can’t find the history of my chats.

On ios, I can simply select the chat I want and talk directly to the person in that chat.

And, If I start a new chat, all goes well but, when switching between the history of that chat and the edit-field for new imput from me, I should do different tabs , depending on the place where I am in the history of the chat.

So, any hints , tutorials , hotkeys for working with hangouts and jaws would be great.

Re: J2018 Build Update 1811.30 + What's New

Hi Shirley,

Not sure if you are using Jaws 2018 as your primary screenreader or if you also have Jaws 2019, but just as a heads up when you get the new Windows 10 update which was just released there are apparently a few things like the new emoji panel which won’t work correctly with Jaws 2018 any more. My assumption is that as time goes by and we get the fall update and going forward more and more issues may arise with Jaws 2018 and one may as well start thinking about upgrading to Jaws 2019 especially since you then also get features like picture smart which as Jaws Convenient OCR is pretty brilliant.

What I do is go use alt-d infirefox and I think it works in chrome as
well, but control-l does work, control-a, control-c to copy to
clipboard, go to that favorites folder, do alt-h-w-s and create an
internet shortcut. Sounds more complicated that it is, but this keeps
my bookmarks the way I want them.

Subject: Saving a PDF in Word

Hello,

I am using JAWS 2019 with Word 365.  When I hit F12 to save a document, and I want to save it as a PDF, when I go to the save as file type combo box, arrow down to PDF, tab to the save button and hit enter, it says the file is being used by another application or user and will not save it. This used to work. Any ideas about what I should do?save it as a PDF
