Strange problem with chrome
Kimber Gardner
Hi all,
Hoping someone can shed some light on a weird problem I'm having in google chrome. Sometimes when I try to open a web site, everything seems to be proceeding normally, but instead of the site content all I see with jaws is a button that says something like view site settings. If I tab around it tells me something about the content being safe, how many cookies are active and learn more. I can't get to the site content or close this message. What the heck is going on? And more importantly, is there some way to stop this behavior? Thanks -- Kimberly

Re: putting a search query into the start menu search box
Bill,
What Version of Windows 10? I have Version 1809, Build 17763.194, and when I do this the right arrow for something noted as settings throws focus to the open option for those settings. What the right arrow does is move you out of the "search results" list/column and in to a list of things you can do with the current item you have focus on in the search results list. What that is, of course, varies depending on the type of the search result item itself. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Explanations exist; they have existed for all time; there is always a well-known solution to every human problem — neat, plausible, and wrong. ~ H.L. Re: Question About Sound Schemes
Bill White <billwhite92701@...>
It doesn't have anything to do with Windows sound schemes. It's the JAWS scheme which he changed, not the Windows sound scheme.

Could it indicate a drop menu is present? Sometimes people set cells for you to pick a value from a list. I'm not sure what color those indicators would be. I can ask around here at work.

Hi, Yes, right arrow. When you do press right arrow, an embedded Edge browser will show up, displaying top search results. Cheers, Joseph

I am using Windows 10. When I press the Windows key and begin to enter a search query such as the letter U for Updates, JAWS says the following:
Check for updates, System settings, Press right to switch preview
What exactly do they mean by switching preview, and are they refering to the Right Arrow when they say
Press right to switch preview
Thank you.

Boarder Changes in Excel 2016 Not Being Indicated
Richard B. McDonald
Hi!
I am using Excel 2016 under JAWS 2019 on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit laptop. Even though I have made the appropriate “check” under the JAWS settings to have my boarder changes indicated, it is not working. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks, Richard

Re: Google support phone number
I have not seen a Google phone number for anything other than sales for many moons now.
The last time I had phone interaction with Google the experience was not good. I look to the product support forums first and foremost when it comes to Google. There's almost certain to be someone else who's having or had the same issue you're having (regardless of the issue or specific Google product). It becomes apparent pretty quickly which have been solved and which are ongoing. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Explanations exist; they have existed for all time; there is always a well-known solution to every human problem — neat, plausible, and wrong. ~ H.L. Re: Google support phone number
Since there is no phone number in sight and they mention both email and chat support it would appear they are not keen on making a phone number available if it even exists. If you can find one feel free to share it.

Hi, I was about to say something that someone else already stated but maybe please don't forget to perform the basic things that help to keep your computer operating the best it can. disk cleanup, and disk defragmenter, also don't forget to if you have windows defender to perform a complete scan of your system to make sure that you don't have any viruses. some times, you even might want to make sure that you delete you search history as well.

many times the drivers do not re load properly from sleep mode and windows can get pretty flaky if you never do a complete shut down at least once per day.

Hi, Michael. It sounds like you need to do something with your sound drivers in the computer. Either they got updated by mistake, and you need to roll them back to what they were before, or, you need to update them yourself if they weren’t updated.
