Hallo 
using jaws 2020 and word & excel 2019 on windows 10 pc and have noticed that in the menus when there are unavailable items (greyed out) jaws stills reads them and doesnt indicate that they are unavailable. Also as you move over these unavailable menu items the focus reamins on the last available menu item.. i believe this also occurs in Outlook. Is this a known bug? If not how do i report this to FReedom Scientific

I'd like to find a way to do this too.
I need to arrange some WIFI priorities for my router using the web interface, and it requires drag and drop.
I've tried locking the cursor and that did nothing.

I've never found a good use for that mouse lock and unlock hotkey in Jaws that actually does something useful. I think the real problem with trying to shoehorn this to work on the web is that the virtual cursor and mouse pointer don't follow each other, and except for Internet Explorer, the Jaws cursor won't let you access everything you need to make a good drop at the correct spot.

I have this problem as well running Jaws 2020 and Windows 10 Pro the in the latest version of the operating system.  I had been using only Jaws at start but when I use Zoom Text  as well Jaws started  after signing in.  This makes me think there is a problem at start up and the additional time required to start Zoom Text or Fusion allows for Jaws to start up properly.

I am using JAWS 2019 under Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, all updated.  After signing-in, JAWS does not start.  My laptop has two user accounts: Admin and Visitor.  Both are password protected.  I have set JAWS to always start at the logon screen (a.k.a., sign-in screen), and it does.  But, after sign-in JAWS does not start.  This is despite having both the Admin and Visitor accounts set to “always” start after login.

 

I have fiddled with this a lot but I cannot get it to work.  “Fast startup” is off.  I have tried many different settings under the JAWS Options > Basics > Automatically Start JAWS Settings screen, but nothing works.

 

Does anyone else have this problem?  Has anyone solved this?

I haven’t encountered this issue at all. I’m running JAWS 2020 with the latest Outlook for Office 365 under Windows 10. It might be worth checking whether other people with exactly the same software versions as yours are experiencing the problem. Also, if you think you might be able to upgrade out of it, I would suggest trying to upgrade whatever relevant software you can.

I turned off the reading pane and a couple other things. Seems to help with arrowing through a message list. However, the lag for Jaws responding and my ability to type in the body of a reply message is even worse, probably around 7-8 seconds this time. I do appreciate the reminder about the pane, I wish the settings would just stay but evidently MS doesn’t think that is a priority. Bummer.

As I await a response from Vispero support, I’m wondering if anyone is experiencing the following:

 

I have noticed that the lag while using Outlook 365 with Jaws 2020 is even worse than with Jaws 2019. Arrowing through a message list, Jaws simply stops speaking. I can read the title of the window but that’s it. Then after 3-4 seconds I am able to proceed normally through the list. And it takes about 5 seconds before I can type a reply to a message.

A few months ago I asked about this lag while in a Outlook webinar with the Microsoft accessibility group. They acknowledged the problem but that was about all they said. I can hardly wait to see what Vispero’s take is.

Mine is empty as well, even though JAWS and several other programs start after I log in. I suspect they’re controlled by registry entries, but I may be wrong about that.

Good job!  Your below worked!  I copied my JAWS 2019 shortcut from my desktop as you instructed below.  Now, after sign-in, it starts.  It took about 25 seconds to start, but it did!  I wonder if reactivating “fast startup” might improve this relatively slow startup of JAWS.  I may try doing this.  But, I can live with how it works now.

 

BTW, before pasting the JAWS shortcut into this startup folder, I noticed that there was nothing in it.

Yes, typing Alt+d in File Explorer, followed by shell:startup will place you in the relevant directory. Try pasting the JAWS shortcut in there.

I do notice a delay from the time I press enter to open a message until the time when JAWS begins reading the message. I first thought that this was an Outlook issue but I don't notice this delay as much when performing the same task using NVDA. With the preview pane disabled navigating through messages in the message list is responsive but opening a message is not.

I use Jaws 2020 and Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit and I have 4 PC’s at my business and a laptop at home and Jaws starts both at the login screen and after logon 100% of the time on all systems.

Have you checked that Jaws is turned on in Windows Settings (Windows Key + I) > Apps > Startup?

I once experienced this on a Windows 7 system. According to Freedom Scientific support, it was probably due to group policy settings (the machine was part of an Active Directory domain).

 

The solution was to copy the desktop shortcut for JAWS to shell:startup (which is where the user’s startup programs reside).

oops. the Sound Effects extension is preceeded with the word Chrome, and
the Always Clear Download for Chrome is called Always Clear Downloads
for Chrome.

when the file has finished being saved. this lets you continue using
your computer while doing other things.

there's one called Sound Effects that adds sounds to events such as when
a link opens up in a tab or if it opens in a new window, and other
helpful sounds. the sounds can only be enabled (checked) or disabled
(unchecked), but there's one sound that needs to be enabled so the
others will play.

the All Clear Downloads for Chrome extension has an option to disable
the download status shelf so the progress of the saving of a download
will not be constantly announced by your screen reader while you use the
computer for something else like reading an article or researching.

uBlock origin and uBlock Origin Extra helps to block undesireable ads.

I don't go crazy with extensions, but others may have other suggestions
that might be intriguing.

No, uBlock Origin Extra is the correct name of that extension.  I was looking at the icon presented rather than extension manager when I typed up my response and since it shows a plus sign in the center of the shield I gave an incorrect name.  Sorry for the confusion.
