Hi,

Strangely, I had this very same thing happen to me on a brand new windows 10 laptop I just received a few days ago. I installed jaws 2019 and all was well until I installed iTunes. After the iTunes installation finished, eloquence (my synth of choice) sounded terrible like someone had wrapped the soundcard in cotton. I uninstalled jaws and reinstalled but with no better results. What did finally solve the issue was installing the high quality vocalizer voices for Tom and Zoey. It didn't fix eloquence, but Tom and Zoey sound just fine. So until I get a more satisfactory answer as to what caused the problem to start, I will be using Zoey. Kim

A question about system sounds in windows 10
Kimber Gardner
Hi all,
On my new windows 10 laptop, I would like to set up a few system sounds associated with certain events. For example, under windows 7, I used to hear a ding when my cursor encountered the top or bottom of the current window. Also, I used to hear a sound when a download completed. Although I've found the system sounds in settings and reviewed the list of program events, I can't figure out how to set these sounds. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. Kim -- Kimberly

Jaws is autistic and has gone in to shutdown mode, just wrap your arms around him and he'll calm down and come back to life. If not you'll have to call Dr. Jaws.

Try turning on Narrator which is the built-in windows screen reader. The key combo to do this is windows + control +enter. This key combo is a toggle so press it once to turn narrator on and press it again to turn it off. Using it you will be able to see what's going on and get to the jaws icon so you can start jaws. At the very least you will be able to see what's on your screen. I hope this helps. Kim On 11/23/18, Val Paul <vpcara79@gmail.com> wrote: Hi good friends! -- Kimberly

Is it the same issue with headphones on? Other audio files or sources? Have you tried a different synth? System restore?

Hi Tom,
To check to see if the RealTek drivers have been
screwed up by an update you can try the following to see if all the sound
effects and the equalizer is still installed. Here's how to check to see
if the equalizer is installed. I've done this with both Windows 10
& 7 systems running Jaws 16 thru J2019.
1. Go into the Control Panel / Sounds Link / Playback tab, arrow up or down to highlight the RealTek soundcard. 2. Tab to, Properties, press the spacebar to open. 3. Control + Tab to the, Enhancements, tab / page. In here you should have 6 items. Only Equalizer should be checked. This enables the sound effects. If this isn't there you will need to get the RealTek package for your computer from Dell. Also, if you don't have this Enhancements tab /
page this means that your RealTek soundcard could have possibly been
screwed up via an update and reinstalling the driver package will take care of
your sound problems. On the other hand if it's there then there are other
settings that need to be looked at. Let us know what you
find.
Take care. Go Rams! Sent from my iBarstool. I type out everything I want to remember. That way instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it was, I spend the time looking for where I saved it!

That would tell me that it is not JAWS then. You have to look at the
sound card, card drivers or the speakers them selves.

Before you do that, I would at least attend a system restore to a time before the problem popped up if nothing else works.

Updating win10 on new pcHI
Val Paul
Hi good friends!
As you can see by this email, i’ve had to resort to my Iphone to send this. I would be glad of some help. [always seem to require help these days] As i’ve been having trouble with the USB drives on my pc, i took my pc to a friend who has become the manager of a new computer shop just open. Actually, he came to see me as i’m not walking very well with my hip which i recently broke. He took away my pc and brought m me a refurbished one. What i’d like help with is when i set it up, it said that i was well out of date, so installed the update helper, this was on Wednesday and it still hasn’t spoke to tell me if i’ve installed it correctly. How can i check this please? Sorry for sending such a long message, but i’m trying my best to give you the correct details. Val.
