Hi,

I am also having this problem, but i'm not sure if it is due to the latest version of Jaws. It also happens with Narrator and NVDA.

I also can't seem to create a shortcut hotkey or at least not the one I want to create. For instance, pressing Alt+Enter to get in to a shortcut properties, then tabbing to the Hotkey field, and when I enter the Hotkey sequence of
alt+Shift+Control+f, then Apply it and press Ok. I go back to check and the Hotkey has not been created at all.

I wonder if it is some kind of weird annoying Windows 10 Home security issue that is causing all these problems?
I am running latest version of Windows 10 Home.

Hi Marvin,

There is a security setting in Adobe Reader that you need to disable. Go to Adobe preferences by pressing CTRL + K. In the list of preferences, look for "Security, (enhanced)". Tab to where it says "enable enhanced Security" and uncheck it. You can use first letter navigation in this list, so press "S" till you get to "Security (Enhanced). Try that and if it doesn't work, there is also a setting to "Enable protected mode at startup" in the Security (Enhanced) preference. Try unchecking this as well. I can't recall if both settings need to be unchecked , and I am on my Mac at the moment so can't check.

Hope this helps

Russell

Hi, Marvin.

1. Open Adobe Reader.

2. Press ALT plus K for Preferences.

3. Arrow down to Security (Enhanced, (not just Security)

4. TAB to Enable Protected Mode at startup, and make sure it is unchecked.

5. Answer “Yes” to the prompt which warns you that, Disabling Protected Mode requires you to restart Adobe Reader.

6. TAB to, Enable Enhanced Security, and make sure this is also unchecked.

7. TAB to the OK button, and press it.

8. Restart Adobe Reader.

Now you should be able to see the content of PDF files in Adobe Reader.

Hi,
Have you gone into Accessibility, and set preferences there? If you haven’t, do so. It’s in the Edit menu of the latest Adobe Reader DC. There’s also the Setup Accessibility Assistant.

It is the 38th key and by setting it to l, which is the only logical key for links in my very biased mind, it replaces the List hotkey, which I never use anyway, so problem solved.

You have to enter on quick navigation keys first.

Hit Jaws key+f2 and down arrow to navigation quick keys and hit enter and the setting you want is near the end of that list.

JAWS has default hotkeys for unvisited and visited links, or you can tab from link to link; or you can define the Any Link hotkey so you can more easily go link to link whether it is visited or unvisited.

I find the new notification announcements very disruptive. Can anyone tell me how to disable this feature? Is it under Windows Defender?

Hello All,

I think I may have figured out this “new notification” issue.  I went to the Action Center, and there were several notifications, none of them anything that seemed to be a security issue, but mainly notices of news items from Google.  While in the Action Center, I was able to easily read the message text.  Did I figure this out, or is the “new notification” coming from some other source?

With either JAWS or Narrator, I am getting a prompt of a “new notification”, but I cannot figure out a way to access the notification.  Any ideas on where the notification originates, and how to deal with it?

moderated Trouble filling out a form in a digital assistant called braina

Good evening listers; has anyone used the digital assistant program called braina? I ask this because I downloaded this, installed it and could not fill out the create a profile form.  Tried both jaws and NVDA with no success.  If anyone has had luck with filling out this form, I would appreciate hearing about it.  Running latest version of jaws and windows 1809.  Thanks
