Hey Robbie.  Thanks for sharing this.  Cheers!

Hey Yall,

First of all I would like to thank those who assisted me in trying to fix my database connection problem for my local environment. With that being said, I posted my question to a Facebook group and was told to move from Wamp to Laragon.

I installed Laragon and my database connection problem was solved. So, I am sharing this with those of you who are looking for an accessible Windows server software. As stated, I installed it and the installation process as well as the software is accessible.

You can download Laragon at www.laragon.org.

Hope this helps.

Hi, by and large this list is obviously very good at helping out jaws users with solving problems. But why, oh why on earth do certain list members insist on shoving their own protracted views on other members, as if they don’t know what they are talking about?

I personally use windows 7 to make use of sonar, which has had jaws scripts written for, but unfortunately can’t have scripts written for windows 10.

There are any number of reasons why users might need, or just want, to use windows 7, and quite honestly, it’s none of your business why.

They are asking for help on this list, and its’ not for you to strike up with personal opinions or know-it-all answers to their questions.

In future, trust what the original poster is asking, and answer in the best way you can. Please let’s end with this know-it-all snooty crap that certain posters insist on using. We are all jaws users and our choices are our own. Leave it alone.

Just my tuppence worth, and if it gets me banned, oh well

Phil

Yes, 'segart prompted me to use IE it Seems to render this site without all the extra text.

I use what works and if that is IE then I will use it. I use win 10 and win 7 as well as 4 web  browsers. They all have there place and blindly leaving tools behind is foolish. 😁

Just noticed if you left or right arrow over the smiley jaws wont read it... But up or down arrow or any other reading command will.

I want to thank everyone for these helpful suggestions for getting an accurate file count in Windows Explorer.

It’s good to know there are options out there when the usual method doesn’t work.

You can get an accurate file count by Back Spacing out of your folder and hitting the Application key for the context menu and up arrow to Properties and hit Enter.  You will need to use the JAWS Curser to read, but the number of items in the folder is there.

I usually just check the status line if I really want to know how many items there are. I don’t believe this gives an inaccurate count and it’s independent of JAWS.

It seems to me there was a solution to this little problem, but I can’t remember it. JAWS 2019 in Windows 10 gives inaccurate counts of files.  It will report that a given file is 1 of 25, when in fact there are many more than 25 files in the folder. I have changed the item type of the folder, to no avail. NVDA does this fine. The file is maximized. Is there a known fix?

I use the properties box to check many things, adjust file permissions/ownership, etc (though I usually get to it simply by pressing alt-enter), but again, I have to ask – why go through all this? There’s a status line right there on the screen, which you can check with insert-pgdn, which should tell you exactly the number of items in your folder.

I just verified this right now by going to my directory of Projection Booth film podcasts, hitting the status line JAWS command (jaws key + pgdn), and getting a total of 135 items show up on my braille display.

I then checked the properties box to be sure the count was the same – and it is identical.

One needn’t rely on jaws for such things, the info is right there, displayed by Windows for anybody to see, unless you turned the status line off of course, which I think you can do.

Funny after your jibe about IE I tried it and it works as expected without the und. Firefox, Edge dev, Brave and chrome all do it. Is there a setting you changed or do i just deal with it until it goes away on its own at some point?
