Re: Changes to MS Word Menus

Try hitting f12 to start a save as and see if you get any different results.
Otherwise, it sounds like the sort by groups is on in your Windows Explorer, or File Explorer as it is called now. If that is the case, perhaps do a search on the web for changing the sort by options in File Explorer.

Hello Listers, My MS Office updated automatically the other night. I am currently using Microsoft Word Subscription Version 16.0.13530.20198. This update has significantly changed how the menus work when saving a document. Previously I could do an alt F and then hit A to do a save as. This would bring up a dialogue box in which I could shift tab twice and get a list of recently used folders from which I could use first letter navigation to get to a folder to open and complete the saving process. Now when I shift tab twice I get a question about making pinned folders. If I arrow down that list I can see folders that I have previously used but they are separated by "today", "this week" and "last week". This same set up occurs when trying to open a document in word. First letter navigation does not work in this configuration. I am guessing that some view or feature that I normally use has been changed in the update. Any ideas about what I need to do to get back to just having a recent folders or documents list that is not distinguished by today, this week and so on? Thanks for any and all assistance.

I understand what is happening, but don't have solutions yet. The issue is that Google Docs is doing echoing with "live" regions, and JAWS is also doing echoing of characters.

You could always adjust echo and if you create a special Google Docs profile that could be added to the Settings center for that profile. There also might be a setting in Google Docs to adjust typing echo.

Until Microsoft does this though, presumably there's no reason why VFO couldn't create a script to bring up a list of favourites as they do links, headings etc. What are we paying all that money for, after all, Cheers, Ed

Re: Question On Importing Internet Explorer Favorites Into Google Chrome
David Kingsbury
Hi Tom,
Let me chime in to agree with others on a strong preference for continuing to use the IE favorites rather than the clunky bookmarks in Chrome. One thing to add: when you open something from the Favorites folder, it will open in your default browser, not IE, even though you created them in IE. I very much hope that Microsoft changes its current Edge favorites to using the favorites folder in the user folder soon. Although called favorites in Edge, the whole structure is that of bookmarks in Chrome. If the big selling point of Edge is that it is supposedly part of the Windows operating system, then it should use the Favorites folder in the user folder. Creating favorites is the only thing I still use IE for.

Group Hi
Tom and others,
This is not a direct answer to your question, but I have always found that editing a contact group in Outlook is a big pain and not worth the trouble, especially if the list is fairly big and people are frequently needing to be added or deleted to the group. If you use Excel, even at just a basic level, it is much simpler. You can maintain the list of these addresses in Excel, easily adding or deleting members as needed.
To address an email message, In the Excel file were you have listed the addresses in a column, simply select the list by starting on the top address and pressing Shift down arrow until you have selected all the addresses. If the list is long, from the top, instead press Control Shift down arrow and that will select all the way to the bottom of the list. Now press Control C to copy. Open Outlook and press Control N to start preparing a message. Then press Control V in either the To or BCC field to paste them all in. Then complete the rest of the message and send it off.

And, to follow on Brian’s steps, you can also simply do a web search for something like “office accessibility groups.io” and chances are the first or second result will be the home page of the group you are looking for. Re: Adding Members To An Already-existing Outlook E-mail Group
I am perfectly happy to share addresses for other groups on any given group, as there are many times where any one given group may serve as a "feeder" for the other.
That being said, I'm also tired of having to do so, so I will again give the step-by-step directions for any Groups.io member to find the group email addresses for some random group that they need to search for first. 1. Navigate to the Groups.io Find a Group Page. 2. Navigate to the Search edit box. Enter a couple of search terms that narrow things down. In this case using [Office Accessibility] will work fine. 3. Use the H browsing shortcut to jump from heading to heading. The first is the search result list name, "Publicly Listed Groups," and all subsequent ones are links to the home page of the group itself. In this case if the two previously mentioned search terms are used, the list is only one entry long and the link to the home page of that group appears. Once you've landed on the group you think you might want, activate the link to its Groups.io home page. 4. On every Groups.io home page for a group, there is a section called, "Group email addresses," that contains exactly what its name implies. I use the screen reader search (INS+CTRL+F) to search for subscribe, and land directly on the group's subscribe address, after I've taken the time to look at the group description to make certain it's the one I really want. Of course, the unsubscribe, post, etc., addresses are all there. Microsoft Office Accessibility Discussion Group Email Addresses
