Scripting a new application
John Martyn
As many of you know I was going to script a new application. One that answers the needs of the blind community. I nearly joined a project already in the works for PeachTree; however, there was a very good reason for not writing it. I won't go into the details, but I will not be scripting that application in the interest of the project's owner.
What I will say, is that I liked the idea of Quickbooks before I was diverted. There are many questions unanswered at this point as to what we truly need. So, it's still on the table for scripting something. This project however will not be free as were my last two projects Rhapsody and iTunes. Please feel free to talk about what you need and why you feel it could benefit us all. If I took up Quickbooks, it isn't really competing for the financial application, but rather giving us a choice and an opportunity at a job perhaps. I don't even know if the other application will be written, and I have to assume that it won't be in any time soon. Perhaps there will be those that prefer quickbooks and that's fine. The main idea is to give us more independence in our day to day life. That's just an example of a useful application, but there are many out there. What I will not do is cross the boundry of Freedom Scientific with Messenger or Office applications, or web stuff. We are looking at client side applications. So, let's get this ball rolling since my other project is winding down. John Martyn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Hello Drew,
I posted on this list a few months back a group of programs that one could use to convert Kindle books to HTML so you can read them. If I were you, I would use those conversion tools because the Kindle for PC is horrible. The best you can really do is add and remove books from your Kindle for PC. Hope this helps, Brandon Keith Biggs Check out MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/brandonkeithbiggs Also add me on facebook! brandonkeith http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=675097942 And for my resume go to: http://www.sfcasting.com/brandonkeith -------------------------------------------------- From: "Drew Hunthausen" <dhunthausen@gmail.com> Sent: Sunday, July 03, 2011 3:23 PM To: "Jaws list" <jfw@lists.the-jdh.com> Subject: reading kindle books on computer Dear list,

Yahoo's New Inbox
Rick Miller
Hello All:
Yahoo has recently upgraded its e-mail system, and I am having a terrible time with it. First of all, after I log in and then find the "Go to Inbox," link and hit the Enter key, JAWS always says, "Applications Mode On." I've discovered that with applications mode on you can do such things as view your purchases, which I don't like. Is there a way you can turn Applications Mode off? I do not see such an option in JAWS Verbosity. Second, after I locate the messages in my inbox, I cannot figure out how to go from folder to folder. The older Yahoo Mail was so much easier to handle. Another thing that I find annoying about the new inbox is that JAWS does not designate whether messages are read or unread. In order to use Yahoo's new inbox you have to have JAWS 11 or higher, and Internet Explorer #8. It will not work with IE #7. If you use it with IE #7 JAWS will crash. Have any of you had much success using Yahoo's new inbox with JAWS? Thanks for any help you can give. Rick Miller -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... gary melconian <globcastcapital@...>
Hello I used to make use of a different screenreade which had support for
quickbooks 2004, in the past when I was in the accounting field working for KPNG if you would like I can post the features that I made use of and the features that I would like to see in a script for quickbooks with jaws. I will shortly repost that information as I have to look for in my numerous emails that I have from the past. I am a professional accountant and offerer services in tax, bookkeeping and computerized accounting, and it would really help me out as I do have clients who make use of quickbooks and for reason that I know that jaws would not want to take this up in the past I could not service these clients and I had to refer them to others in my field inw which they refered me tax client as a means of referring them quickbooks which I could not do to the fact that jaws never had any interest in supporting quickbooks and application to make blind business individuals more productive in their business an they had to seek other means in accomplishing the job and that is why most who can afford to hav two screenreader go that route since frredom scientific idea of access is to the basic and not to think out of the box with client side applications that can make the blind more productive and third party guys like yourself have to learn the scripting language which is more complicated for the average individual to grasp an there is no scripting wizard which could scan the program for inaccesibiltly hooks like an antivirus or spyware program, an then ask the average individual how to script the application through a wizard of choices an then having a means of testing the choices made from the scripting wizard. Just a thought for someone who is thinking of a very useful idea. So count me in as a user and a tester when you decide ot have yoru quickbooks scripts for jaws as my field and experience would make it very useful for your testing purposes. Re: Scripting a new application
Peter Holdstock <peterholdstock@...>
Hi, if QuickBooks would be useful to many then great. I'd love to see improved functionality with Media Centre in Windows 7 as even as it stands it's probably the most accessible TV recording system available in the UK at a good price. But it still has minor querks such as once on the programme info screen it doesn't read all the info available. I'd pay a small fee for it to work better. If not then some kind of money management software (deally also suitable for home money management use) sounds good.
