Recently I've been reading some posts regarding updating to the latest version of Firefox, and that Webvisum hadn't released an update for that version. For some time I've been able to use it on my current version of Firefox 3.6. Someone suggested I download a portable version of Firefox 5 to see how it worked and whether or not Webvisum worked with it. Another post explained a work around for accessing Webvisum with Firefox 5.0, by going to the install.rdf file and changing the max number from 4 to 5. I did this and saved the change, then downloaded the portable Firefox 5, but this created an error message in Firefox 3 saying the file wasn't well-formed or something. Webvisum not only didn't work on the portable Firefox, but now it no longer works on Firefox version 3, and I also deleted the install file for Webvisum and the plugin is no longer there. Can you suggest a way to get a new plugin for Webvisum to download again to Firefox 3? I'm already logged in, but can't find a link to download the plugin. I erroneously sent a request for an invitation but discovered that's not necessary if I know my username and password. Thanks for your assistance. ----- Original Message ----- From: Douglas Richard Dexheimer To: inthane Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2011 6:14 AM Subject: reactivating the Webvisum pluginRe: Webvisum plugin lost On Monday I requested an invitation from the Register page, but got no answer, and later I realized I had an email containing my username and password from the last time I got invited (earlier this year), so I'm already registered. The plugin is already deleted, as noted in earlier messages. I went to Webvisum and found the link about downloading the plugin, then selected Install, alt+a to allow, but got a message saying "install 4 button unavailable," along with the following: Software Installation Install add-ons only from authors whom you trust. Malicious software can damage your computer or violate your privacy. You have asked to install the following item: webvisum-0.8.xpi (Author not verified) http://www.webvisum.com/plugin/webvisum-0.8.xpiInstall Now Cancel After hitting Install Now, I hit Restart Firefox and landed in a list of add-ons, but there was no indication that the plugin had installed--no sound indicator, and control+f1 doesn't work in any website. In the list of add-ons, I found a tab saying "disable button," indicating that the plugin was already enabled, but it didn't seem to work. I uninstalled Webvisum to make sure I didn't have an older copy of the plugin interfering with the update I was trying to install, then went back to the Download site and tried the procedure again but got the same result. Might I need a new invitation from a verified author? The other day I checked the contact page and discovered the email address I sent my original message to--the first message in this thread--but never got a response so far. I read somewhere that I needed to verify my account and/or get an activation email before being authorized to use the plugin. I went to the Register page and entered my name, email, username and password, but found a field to enter an invitation code, which I don't have. So then I went to the Request Invitation page and submitted a request for an invitation code to activate the plugin again. I got a thank you and that I would get a response soon, but I don't know how long I'll have to wait. Perhaps you could send the invite or code to me. Thanks for your further assistance. Mail has stabalized, it seems.

Members; I am one of the actual server administrators of the server where this list is hosted. I've been monitoring the ongoing mail issues throughout the day post disaster recovery. We're aware of the bouncing mail and the mail server being a little, shall we say, stupid of late. Things should be stabalizing now, as providers realize we're not a spam servver and remove head from cranium. As this happens, the unsubscribe system and all other parts of the software should behave as normal. Please attempt to make any changes on your own before contacting the admins of this list. Let's try and make their job as painless as possible. I know it's a pain in the behind but things happen, so instead of complaining, let's be proactive, k? Folks,
The situation that brought about the second migration was beyond my control. That said, the migration in question is going to have its issues. Complaining about those issues on-list, and complaining about the complainers, is not going to fix those issues any faster. Now. As I learn of people having issues, they are being delt with. If I don't know about your issue, I can't fix it. Therefore, rather than complain about it on-list, send myself or Jessica an email privately and we'll have it delt with. This is not a competition to see who can fill who's mailbox faster. It stops here. As of now, if it doesn't come to me personally, I'm going to assume there's no issue and it won't get looked at. End of story.

Hi All,
I had not received any email from the list for about 3 days. Sending messages to the moderators didn't bring any results & I am just wondering if others were having the same problems. Please, understand that I am not trying to bash the moderators but, just trying to understand how I, & possibly others, became unsubscribed. I have sent 2 questions to the list during this period and received messages back stating that I was being moderated. That's what prompted me to write to the moderators. Anyway, as stated earlier, I am by no means trying to bash or portray any feelings of ill will just, wanting to see if anyone else is having problems. Since re-subscribing, it seems that things are back in order. Take care. Mike -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Off hand, I can't recall a more problematic JFW rollout than version 12 and all its subsequent updates. The patches to fix this or that issue and not to mention the over all performance issues some of which have somewhat been addressed, but others are still waiting to get fixed.
I'm downloading the update out of habit, but considering that there's not much addressed here, I'm not sure I'm going to bother installing it. I'll maybe give it a shot to see if by any chance over all performance is better then those other v12 editions from earlier in the year.

Many people (including myself) have followed his instructions to unsubscribe (opt-out) but continue to receive all messages. Your opt-out unsubscribe process is not working. Instead, please send out an email asking who would like to subscribe in future (opt-in), clear out your subscriber database, and only add back in those who ask to be added.
I'm marking all these emails as spam but because incoming messages come from many different users, even marking them as spam isn't working. Your maillist is acting like a spambot and you're not recognizing the impact you're having on others.

Re: Admin: Mail may still be delayed for some.
Folks,
If you were subscribed to this list after the move, it was because your email address was on this list's previous incarnation, most likely over on freelists.org. That list was moved to a new location, which subsequently required a second move when that location became no longer an option. You have the option of unsubscribing, or asking me *off-list* to do so for you. Complaining about being on the list, especially by way of posting messages to that list, does not a solution make.

Re: Admin: Mail may still be delayed for some.
Shane, this was a politely stated request based on real problems people are having unsubscribing, as others are having in trying to get back on the list. I have written to James to suggest he provide his direct email address in link form on his posts. Otherwise, it's hard for people who have been away from the list to know how to contact him or Jessica, the other moderator.
Your messages on this subject have been immoderate. Please try to be civil out of respect for the rest of us.

Thank goodness I still have Firefox 3.6, which I will hang onto forever, if that's the only way I can still use Webvisum. I guess the fine folks at Mozilla really don't give a rat's ass about accessibility.

Good morning. I'm sending this to you individuals because the JFW list seems to be down right now. Yesterday I sent this to the Webvisum Discuss listserv and subscribed to their mailing list, but I suspect they may be very slow to respond. If I don't hear from them in a week or so, what do I do with Web sites that require verification? I could try Solona but not sure if that works with Firefox, or if it can handle captchas and images as efficiently as Webvisum. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi all.

That's a shame!!! Now what shall we do with websites that require verifying yourself to sign in or submit a comment, to verify you're a real human and not a robot? Pity the independent blind users who can't find somebody to help fill in the box or solve the captchas, or don't want to be a nuisance to people who are too busy to jump up and come to their aid!

I too still have Firefox 3 but disabled Webvisum trying to install the portable Firefox 5, or changing the install.rdf file for Webvisum, then deleting that file. Downloading the plugin from the Webvisum site didn't get it working either.

Hello all,
Then surely a better-than-nothing solution, is for someone to make version 3.6 readily available for all.

Webvisum sent me a new password; I logged in with the new password and tried once again to install the plugin, but still I can't get it to work--I get the "unavailable" message following the "install button" prompt. Is there an issue with my system or browser security settings, or do I actually need an invitation code in addition to the password? Do I need to upgrade Firefox to use this copy of the plugin? Thanks.

there is a spot, pardon a link where you can fill out a "request" and get an invitation to web visum, if you remember your address and sign in password (the same ones you input into web visum so it could automatically sign in) you can go and download it again, I would use revo uninstaller to pull out the old web visum, and then reinstall a new copy.
or at worst case, contact me again and I will get you an invite since I remember both my sign in and my password

Hi all.
