what is a toroid?
We use it in ham radio to get rid of interference when our radios activate things like our neighbor's hammond organ. (LOL) It is a donut shaped/size metal thingy that goes around a cord and somehow

There is a lot going on in here...
if you want a capable computer, the one I usually recommend to my students is the Dell latitude 5500 With 512 GB SSD i7 16gb RAM. Boots fast and performs well.

My 4th gen I7 4790K running at 4.0GHz is just as fast as my 8th gen I5 running at the same speed. Both have 16GB RAM and SSD's. You cant tell whitch is whitch unless you check the system info.

Benchmarks tell an 8th of the story. In every day performance, it means nothing. Slow to one person may not be slow to another and that $500 extra spent on the i9 processor wouldn't be noticeable to

No. i9 is just higher than i7, the generation number is still the same, with all the newest ones starting out with 9's.

Microsoft will eventually have to write its OS to work on ARM processors.
That is the processors that our phones and tablets use.

Eh, not really. This laptop runs 8 GB and its only problem is the processor's 4+ years old. If you're not slapping VMware on the thing you'll do fine in most cases. Just slap another stick of memory

Speaking of windows fast startup, I have had nothing but problems with it on everything I've tried. From missing system tray icons to issues with speech, I can't recommend running away from it fast
