This is why I think FS, given that they appear not to have touch HJPad for over a decade at least should consider releasing its code into

Yes this is certainly a workaround. Also increasingly web browsers offer quite accessible spell checking in their edit boxes as well. Because of the clunkiness and unreliability of my spell checking

I use Notepad ++, but I've never spell checked with it.
Usually if I need something spellchecked in notepad or on a web field, I open a new eMail message and paste it in there, and press F7 to

I saw some discussion of Notepad ++ on the NVDA list and the conclusion there was that the Notepad ++ spell checker addon was inaccessible even with the help of the NVDA addon but I would be happy

There are some good open source word processors, such as Notpad ++

It worked because you had a newer version.
Your friend could not tandem into your machine with an older version than you are using.
