I think the problem might be the same one I had at first, that is, a misunderstanding of when to hold down which keys. I was trying to hold down the insert key, the space bar, the O key and the W key

Perhaps you are trying to press Insert, Spacebar, O and W at the same time?
The layered keystrokes don't work that way.
Insert +Spacebar is pressed together then released, usually resulting

without quotes "sfc /scannow"

The tools builtin to windows will not do a propper job! Generally
speaking third party software is required to propperly delete old
files and get rid of unnecessary registry entries and so on.

I'd start with the Error checking, Disk Cleanup, and Defragmentation already
built into Windows. Alt+Enter or RightClick and Properties on your hard
drive and use the tools in the dialog that pops
