I do agree, they’ve got the blind sewed up with constantly coming up with new versions to profit themselves.
But I tend to think with all internet browsers constantly coming up with more and more

Exactly. The voices are not natural, but the speech is; the rhythm and emphasis are just better, suggesting a tighter integration with the core product. I thought they would have worked through that

I was forced to upgrade to Jaws 17 because being an idiot, I did the
free upgrade to Windows 10 without looking at Freedom Scientific's
website first, and it actually uninstalled my original copy of

Michael, I couldn't agree more. I mentioned on a list last evening, possibly this one, that having used eloquence for so many years it is just hard to get used to something else on the computer

The only problem with what you are doing is come the day that you have to upgrade jaws and or your operating system, and that day will come, it is going to cost you a fortune

One thing about Eloquence is that even though it doesn't sound human,
the words flow together a bit more naturally at times. Vocalizer's
voices sound better to me, but sometimes it sounds like sounds

I use eloquence for programming where being certain of exactly what is
present is very important but a natural sounding voice for browsing
where such concerns are limited.

Both IBM and DEC used obnoxious child voices. I believe DEC designated its version as "Kid." I don't recall the label for the IBM Webb browser (remember that one, gang?), as I only used it a few

Bobby sounds like a cartoon character on helium. I can't stand that
guy. I do prefer Vocalizer, but the new voices sound like they're in
a barrel. I hope they update the voices when they update

The difference between the two is just 4 units--65 to 69. Within the male-female parameters, most can be made to sound virtually identical by adjusting the pitch. The one exception is Bobby; that

I agree. Each time we're told the new voices are the hottest thing since instant coffee, but there's always a let-down. I've never claimed eloquence sounds human, the female voices verge on awful,
