I don't know if this will help you, but you might try insert-numrow 2 which toggles speech through none, characters, words and characters and words. You may be getting echo of both screen

CTRL will also stop the dictation thing. You could wait until you hear the sound again, though/that’s also a good way, just tto make sure you’re done talking and don’t have anything more to
