i don't know if this would effect jaws. but be aware that some del and hp computers do not have a numlock key so you can not turn the number pad off to use the jaws functions. you would have to use

My HP envy doesn't have this issue. From what I recall, I didn't have to go into the bios to change anything either when I first got it.

HP "Action Keys" can only be toggled on or off via UEFI. It requires sighted assistance.

Why don't you go where you bought it and ask them to make sure the function keys are enabled, as others pointed out it most likely is set up by default so you have to press the FN together with
