What's the exact model number? If you go to the support page for that machine and download the Owner's Manual (or whatever they call it) it should note whether media keys/smart keys are enabled by

I think the issue is a lot more recent than that. You could always just turn on narrator and try it.

I get the same problem both with JFW and with NVDA, so I’m assuming the problem is site-related. I will ask my husband, who is sighted, to take a look

Have you tried turning off the “Use accessibility driver for screen capture” option in the JAWS settings? If this doesn’t help, the next step would be to contact Microsoft’s accessibility

You could open the picture using something like paint and try to get JAWS 18 to recognise it.
But I never got good results.
Even now the results seem – a bit substandard based on my experience
