They is whoever does your computer assessment. I do not know what’s going on in British Columbia I can only speak to my own experience in Ontario. Here in Ontario up till five years ago the CNIB did computer assessments I never went to them because as I stated before I like doing my computer assessment at the University of Waterloo. Once your assessment is done by the professional Computer assessment personnel in my case the University of Waterloo, they prepare the forms and give them to you and the process follows as I described before.

I don’t know what else to tell you this is how it works in Ontario Canada. I actually have the forms in front of me because I had my assessment done a month ago and I am getting ready to purchase my new computer and jaws. Who is they? We had such a program a few years ago and the CNIB at least in BC were not allowed to do any assessments. I was informed why by a government worker directly involved in determining who got what, but will not mention it on this group.

David, I don’t know if the assistive devices program is across Canada. It is definitely in Ontario. Every five years you can get a computer assessment done at the CNIB. I get my computer assessment done at the University of Waterloo just because I like them and I’ve been going to them since I was a kid. Once you get your assessment done, they give you some forms to sign, you send these forms off to the assistive devices program, they return them to you with approval, you buy your computer, you send them the receipt, and they refund you the money. The program is not as good as it used to be but it still exists. You are entitled to a computer and jaws every five years. They can also provide you with a list of assistive devices program vendors. You can take your forms to one of these vendors and they will handle everything for you. Meaning you don’t have to buy anything and wait for a refund. They will take your forms and give you your computer and jaws, and you’re done.

You misunderstood for upgrades, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. $480 not including taxes. As you stated and as I stated before if you’re registered with the CNIB you don’t have to pay taxes.

Alternatively, if you have a job and can prove you need JAWS and, without it you are in danger of loosing your job, The province may have a government program to help as they do in the Province of B C(Work BC) Earlier there were programs for such a thing available. You just had to prove a need, not a want.

I think you are a tad off in the price. Unless I’m missing something, that is 3 upgrades, my S M A cost $165 for the home edition, that would be $495 not including taxes. Because I’m registered with the CNIB, I did not have to pay taxes. The best scenario would have been buy a SMA late 2018, early 2019 which would have cut down the costs. Because a 2 year S M A as mentioned is $165

Hi there, I am also in Canada, and recently had to deal with this issue. You do not have to buy a new version of jaws you can upgrade. It is cheaper to upgrade then to buy the new version. If you are on jaws 18 and want to upgrade to jaws 21 and you bypass the upgrades to jaws 19 and jaws 20 then yes you will have to purchase A whole new version which costs $1030 Canadian. If you want to upgrade you can upgrade to 2019 2020, 2021, and have a license for 2022 to upgrade for $480 Canadian plus taxes if you are not registered with the CNIB. If you’re registered with CNIB you will not have to pay taxes. You cannot purchase from Freedom Scientific there is a Canadian number. Their telephone number is

You would buy the update from a Canadian reseller. At this point, you have to update from 2018 to 2021 so that means you need 3 updates because you are 3 years behind and they will not sell you an intermediate version so they will charge you 3 times the price of the update unless they have changed their policy but I don't think so. David Csercsics
Are you using the Windows store version? Or the desktop app? Both appear to be mostly the same, although I think someone said somewhere that for screen readers apparently the Windows store one is not quite as usable. I’ve found it to be a bit sluggish here, myself, with my large music library. But the alt+f command does in fact get me to the file menu, so I don’t know why it is not working there other than that I have downloaded the desktop app from apple, not the Windows store one.

Kevin,
Use Insert Picture, from this device. ALT+N,P,D You are going to have to have someone who can see to position the signature afterward, and also to reset the wrapping for text around it to text through picture. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide |

Re: upgrading Jaws

Keep in mind too, with any agency you have to go through hoops. I got my JAWS 19 with SMA paid for but, no computer to put it on. The government worker was sure I could get a lap top to put it on as I did not have one. I was using my sister’s and, she wanted it back. I was not aware of the 5 year idea and I belong to the CCB in Canada. When I did talk to Vispero in the U S, as there is no Canadian # she did not inform me of any program. I will have to look into it. At my age, I’ve seen it happen too often that if you talk to 2 different people you get 2 different answers. An example is in the U S you can subscribe annually to JAWS, not so in Canada.

As I told you in my previous message this is the number I called which I provided for you and this is the information they told me. I did call Freedom Scientific in the USA and they confirmed that they do not upgrade or sell no longer to Canadian customers they are the ones who gave me this number. I called this number and this is the information the gentleman gave me. Also I would like to mention that if you were in Canada you are entitled to jaws every five years through the assistive devices program. In which case you would get a full version of jaws for free if you are eligible.

jaws2021 and itunes, not a good combination

Hi,
I have lots of podcasts (over 200), and I’m trying to export them from itunes. However, the command to go to the file menu, to begin that process, isn’t working.
When I press Alt+F, nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,

Thanks for all input. I have my signature in a jpeg file. Is there a way to pull that jpeg file into a MS word document? This is a one time form I filled out, have to sign it and email it back to my doctor.
