Hi, Justin. It's in one of two places. First it's in the JAWS Startup Wizard, under Help.

Secondly, it is in Quick Settings (JAWS key plus V). When the search box opens, after you press JAWS key plus V, enter the word smart, and Smart Reading will come up in the search. If it is checked, try unchecking it, and see if that makes a difference in how you can navigate with the arrow keys. Make sure to TAB to the OK button to save the changes.

I have Jaws 2021, and windows 10. Office 2016

I've noticed, that when I read by word in Microsoft word, that JAWS sometimes doesn't read.

The cursor will move, but it will not say anything.

When I read Character  by Character it works fine.

Why is that?

Hello, I’m using the most recent versions of windows10, Outlook2016 and Jaws2021. As some of you know I had been dealing with Outlook problems going from my old laptop to the new one. I have 5 email addresses. When I exported from Outlook on the old laptop it creates what is called outlook data file. I then imported this file to Outlook on my new laptop. Now when I’m in the default email address and go to the calendar using control 2, I’m put into a calendar under a different email address. Now the calendar under this email didn’t have anything in it. When I move to the outlook data file, (I can move to it by bringing up the list of folders), press control 2, The calendar that shows up will have all appointments that were on the calendar for the default email address. I talked with Microsoft Accessibility and was told I will always have to go to the outlook data file calendar and there is no calendar under my default email address. Has any heard of this happening? Is this the way to move Outlook data from one laptop to another? Any thoughts of how I can move the calendar from the outlook data file to the default email address? Can I even create a calendar under the default email address? This really seems odd. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

I just got one for video, but two of the RCA plugs are audio, so if I can find my converter cable, from RCA to eighth inch male, I can use this for any audio source.
It was about 13 dollars on Amazon.com
It came with a CD of software for recording the video, but if it isn't accessible, I can record it with VLC media or something else.

Hey.

I can’t find that specific product that you m entioned online. Are you sure that’s what it’s called?

In any case, there are apparently standalone cassette to MP3 converters. I have never seen sucha  thing, but why don’t you ask your uncle more about it? Perhaps you can try it for yourself.

I would personally just get a tapedeck and plug into PC, using something like goldwave or audacity to digitse, but that’s just me.

I’ll probably be doing this soon as someone just dropped off a tape deck for me the other day. Looks like something from the 80s. May have a mechanical issue though. Now where the hell do I take a cassette deck to get repaired? Haha

Or is there a similar product available to allow me to convert a bunch of cassettes to mp3 to burn onto compact disc.

With Word open press, Insert + V, to open Jaws quick settings.

Type, smart, into the search field and give it a couple of seconds to find.

There should only be 1 result, so down arrow and if it's checked, it's on, and if it's not checked it's off.

After making any settings changes tab to, Okay, and press enter to save / close.

All that Page loading, Still Loading, Loading complete, does my head in, and I am sure Chrome is faster.

Also, F5 won’t do any good, if Chrome isn’t considered to be the app in focus by JAWS.

Usually JAWS works well with chrome. But I notice that sometimes it doesn't work, like suddenly the navigation keys don't work. I try reloading the page and it doesn't work. It's a matter of time before I try something that makes it work, like restarting JAWS. But I don't know what it is going on. Maybe something on the page hasn't fully loaded? Any ideas?

Hi,

Actually, there is a keystroke, but it is undefined, so you would need to define a key.

If you Press F2, then down to Keyboard Manager, then select Default, then tab, then go down a couple of times, you will see “Adjust JAWS Verbosity” but there is no keystroke bound to it in the default keymap.

Just define that to what you want, and you can, well, adjust JAWS verbosity.

I can't find any, and that's even in the JAWS Help System.

If this is wanted for when you're using a specific application, you can create an application specific profile with a different verbosity level than your default for everything else in the Settings Center.

Yes. In focus means the app that has the current focus.

If you do an Alt Tab round to Chrome, it gains focus. Usually an app gains focus when you enter it, but in this case, JAWS isn’t detecting that Chrome has gained focus.

I hope this helps.

Yep, when it says Title Is, this is because Chrome isn’t gaining focus, or JAWS doesn’t think it is.

Another option would be to buy an inexpensive digital recorder, hook the output of the cassette player or deck up to the 3.5mm input on the digital recorder and record away. When you are done you plug the digital recorder into your computer where it would show up as an external drive and copy the recording to the computer in MP3 form which is what these recorders usually record in.

Well…he said he already found the specific product online. I couldn’t, so I was wondering exactly what page he was looking at.

USB shouldn’t really have line noise, should it? Not saying it’s necessarily the greatest thing for audio transfer and if you have a mixer you should certainly use that…, but you sure that’s what the extra noise you are getting is from?

You'll probably have beter luck Gooling for usb cassette player. Also if you already have the correct cables for the computer and components, then buying a specific usb device won't be an advantage if you already have a cassette deck that you are able to connect to the computer. I bought a usb turntable years ago and thought I would use this feature, but usb carries too much line noise for me, so I simply kept using my mixer and my cables.

Why not just use goldwave with a cable and make MP3s.

Helllo List,

My uncle said he has something called Danse Reuse cassette to mp3 player.

I do not know if that product would be accessible for me.

If someone can let me I know I would appreciate.

Or is there a similar product available to allow me to convert a bunch of cassettes to mp3 to burn onto compact disc.

Thanks,

Jeff Lukacsena

As Bill reiterated, I have on-screen keyboard turned off already. I double-checked in settings and in “ease of Access;” both show on-screen keyboard as “Off.” Still, if I turn off my computer and turn it back on, on-screen keyboard loads prior to the Windows sign-in. I want to stop on-screen keyboard from loading. I am at a loss for how to keep on-screen keyboard from loading. Anyone know how to prevent it from loading?

Many thanks - Ed

Marvin, why are you so focused on Windows 11?

There is nothing you can do to make an unsupported, entry-level seventh Generation processor into a supported high-end seventh Generation or eight Generation processor, it's a piece of hardware and no driver or anything else will make it so.

If you buy a bicycle there isn't much you can do to make it into a motorbike.

Sure, if you can afford it just go and buy a new computer, but if that stretches your finances why bother, Windows 11 is not all that much different from Windows 10 and Microsoft has clearly stated Windows 10 will be supported for at least another 4 years. I would just forget about it, you will still get feature and security updates for Windows 10 and if your current computer works well just continue with it for a couple more years until it makes sense to get a new one and in the meantime you can save up for it.

Hi. Is there anything any drivers I can download or any way to update my processor. That’s the only thing which will not support. Pasting below.

Or do I just go and purchase a new laptop.

Thanks.
