Hi David,
Control B will bold whatever is highlighted, and if
nothing is highlighted, I think it will stay bold until you do control B
again.
That is not a Jaws command though, it is a word
command.

The question, "How do I turn on bold formatting on selected text in MS-Word with JAWS?," is not, in any way, shape, or form, about JAWS. It's about Word and a keyboard shortcut it uses regardless of whether a screen reader is involved or not. Ah, however, I’ve lost track of how often I’ve heard the term, “That has nothing to do with JAWS, it is a windows command.” I did not know that, so was glad for the correction. Obviously if I did not know something, I can hardly be faulted. Smile. The one thing I have learned is there are several ways to get to the home screen, as they say, all roads lead to Rome. It is never no traffic on a group that makes me leave, it is primarily heavy handed moderation of a mod that seems to be on a Power trip. Or, on one group, the inflammatory thread was dying out and the moderator inadvertently threw gas on the smoldering embers. ElBraille Notetaker And Focus 40 Fifth-generation Braille Display
Tom Behler
Hello, everyone.
I hope this brief post will not be considered off topic, since the ElBraille and Focus 40 are designed to work with Jaws.
To make a long story very short, I have someone who might be interested in trading an ElBraille Notetaker with a Focus 40 fifth-generation Braille Display for my current HINMS 32-cell Polaris note-taker.
I’m interested in anyone’s objective review of the ElBraille and Focus 40.
Please send any thoughts off list to:

To clarify, am I correct in saying that those of us who have installed Jaws 2022 do not need to worry about this tandem update?
I ask this because, on one of my Windows 10 computers with Jaws 2022, Tandem is sometimes automatically activated when I re-boot the computer after a complete shutdown.

Additionally, if you have turned off the announcement of table cell coordinates in Quick Settings, JAWS now only reads the cell contents as expected when using the table reading commands (ALT+CTRL+ARROW Keys). • Addressed issues in Google Docs where JAWS was not properly indicating inserted, deleted, or commented text at the start or end of a line or a table cell. • Addressed an issue with JAWS not reading as expected in some instances when navigating by character. • Added a new option to toggle the announcement of text marked as a suggestion in Google Docs. To change this, open Settings Center and locate the Suggested text announcement check box. • JAWS now properly reads the title of the current page in Chrome or Edge when using CTRL+TAB to move between open pages. • Addressed an issue where JAWS was not indicating the start of commented text in Google Docs when navigating by word. list end Stay safe & take care. Enhancements in JAWS 2020.2110.3 (November

For those who use the Tandem feature, this
update is required if you need to establish a Tandem connection with JAWS or
Fusion 2022 or higher.
To download the latest release, visit the
Downloads web page. You must be logged on as an administrator to install this software. Enhancements in JAWS 2020.2012.9 (December
2020)
The following is a list of improvements made
between the August 2020 release and the December 2020 update.
list of 15 items
• In the 2020 December Update, we have included a fix that will help users of ZoomText and Fusion in the future when they uninstall that version yet continue to use later versions. There was a problem in earlier 2020 versions where it was impacting shared components with other versions such as the most recent release. We encourage anyone who still has the 2020 versions installed, to please update now even if you are not currently using it. • Fixed a long-standing issue in File Explorer where JAWS would often not announce the correct number of files in the current folder. • JAWS now properly reads as expected in Skype when moving focus back to the app without the need to first press ALT and ESC. • When launching the Skype app included in Windows 10, JAWS now loads the correct settings files. • While in a Zoom meeting, you can now press CTRL+SHIFT+T to find out who is currently talking. Zoom recently added this option with CTRL+2 but we were previously using it for a JAWS feature. • Removed the announcement of Tutor Messages in Microsoft Office Ribbons as they were very verbose when attempting to navigate. • Resolved an issue when selecting all text (CTRL+A) in a large Word document. This action would cause JAWS to hang for several seconds. • Addressed an issue in Word documents where JAWS was not announcing indentation increments when pressing TAB. • Resolved an issue in Excel where JAWS was not reading the selected item in various combo boxes in the Font dialog box. • Resolved an issue where JAWS was not reading the Auto Complete options in the Chrome Address bar. • Addressed an issue where same page links were not always working as expected in Chrome or Edge Chromium. • Added five new Japanese voices to the Add/Remove Voices utility, which allows you to sample and download Vocalizer Expressive 2 voices for use with JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion. • Resolved an issue with navigating to the configuration editor in Thunderbird Email when running JAWS or Fusion. • Addressed reports of JAWS performance issues encountered after accessing the Start menu multiple times. • Updated braille drivers provided by Papenmeire. list end Stay safe & take care. Mike.

Hi Tom
Check out this official tutorial from the Freedom Scientific team. It's dated, but still relevant. The great thing about doing it this way is that the header information is saved in the Excel file. Therefore, if you share it with someone else, it will still work regardless of the screen reader they’re using.
Column and Row Headers in Excel with JAWS and MAGic (freedomscientific.com)
Note that if you only have one data region on a sheet, you don’t have to specify a cell range. The headers will simply continue as you add more row/column data.
All the best.

Hi,
Using: Jaws 22, Win 10 and Excell 2013
How can Jaws be set up so column and row headings will be spoken when arrowing across or up/down a Excel spread sheet?
Thanks

Hi William
To stop web pages and PDF documents from automatically reading in all relevant applications:
Note that you can follow the same steps from within a particular application and avoid switching to default settings if you don’t want to change this across the board.
All the best.
