Pi symbol
ferretdance83 <ferretdance83@...>
I am using JAWS 10 with Vista. JAWS does not read the pi symbol in Microsoft Word or in emails/IE8. In fact, JAWS does not recognize the Symbol font at all. I can't fix this with the graphics labeler; tried, but fonts aren't graphics, apparently. Can I fix this with JAWS 10? Is this a problem in later versions as well?

Re: Unassisted windows 7 install
Darrell Bowles <DGBOWLES@...>
Well, actually, I am interested in creating an unassisted windows install,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
as quite truly, There may come a time whare I might need to reinstall it. Saying that this has nothing to do with jaws is not true. JAWS may not come preinstalled like VoiceOver, but that has little to do with JAWS users needing the help. Now, I used N Lite to create my answer file, and burned my copy of windows to a disc like you're supposed to. What is supposed to happen if the install worked, and what should I do after I insert the CD. Also, what about the boot file inside the original CD? Thanks, Darrell

Re: Strange problem with Jaws and Microsoft Word
Dave...
Tom,
Depending on your version of Word, there are different ways to get at this. But somewhere in options there are checkboxes to control what characters Word will display, and I think a blank is one of them. Also there may be a setting in the text page of the Settings Center to handle this, or perhaps in the Key Labels page, where you can mute or unmute the speaking of a spacebar press. A few areas to browse around in. In other words, when I hit the space bar, nothing happens. It used to be that Jaws would say "blank", to indicate the existence of a blank space. I have never seen this happen before, and can't imagine why Jaws will not speak this character. Does anyone have suggestions for correcting this? Re: Enhancements in JAWS 13
Dave...
Holger,
That's sort of my cynical viewpoint, as well. And if that's true, then they do no benefit to us to list something they have "looked at" but not "resolved". frankly I think it's just the different writing styles of two different people generating the list. They use these praises ad nauseum in the list, and no, I'm not going to send a message to support@... just to get a blank stare in return. Aside from that, it sound like they may have "resolved" some "issues" that I've had with Excel, but not sure if all my personally-reported "issues" have been "addressed" to my satisfaction. So far, the over all incredible sluggishness is gone. In fact, Firefox feels
