Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] Need Mouse over Reminder

Dave...

Hmmm. Well it still requires that I remove my right pinky finger from its
usual location hovering over the Enter key, moving it over to the insert
key, and using my pointer finger instead, whilst engaging the Ctrl key with
my left pinky finger. No wonder I never bother with it.

problem reading rss-feeds in internet explorer 9

Michael Kuhlmann

Hi to the Llist,

I'm running the latest jaws 12 with windows 7 home premium 32-Bit and internet explorer 9. When opening a website containing rss-feeds, jaws announces
the feeds, but there's no possibility to access them. The shortcuts "alt-j" and Strg-J working in earlier version of internet explorer don't work anymore
and there's no special link on the prefered site to get the feed. So how can I add feeds to the list in IE 9 with jaws?

Thanks in advance and kind regards.

Michael

Re: Need Mouse over Reminder

Adrian Spratt

Dave, you've already received the control+JAWS key+enter answer from Mike
and Chris. When you press that combination, you'll often hear a reference to
a line number. As I recall, the message is something like, "the text has
changed at line X."

This is where the JAWS quick key j comes in useful. When you hear that
message, press j and you'll be asked for a line number. Type in the number
you heard, and JAWS will take you there.

In my experience, being taken to the line sometimes produces new
information, but sometimes not at least none that JAWS detects. However,
when you do get new information, it can be very helpful.

That Internet thing can drive you buggy, when it's where you do most of
your serious work. To make it worse, I can just do a tandem, because
the data we handle is confidential. It's also a little flaky with
Outlook 2007, it crashes a lot, but this was always a tricky app under

Ted,

I've also seen some quirks with JAWS 13.

1. Often when closing out an html E-Mail for the first time in a given
day,
it will "take a breath" for about 15 seconds before I get back to JAWS
speaking.

If I delete rows or columns from Excel 2007 it takes quite a while for
JAWS
to come back speaking.

Many web pages do not come up speaking, having me stuck in the address
bar
area. Requires that I press Ctrl+F6 to get back on to the page.
Sometimes I
even have to use the JAWS cursor and left click to get back to the page.

These things never happened with JAWS 11/12.

You may be on to something. This machine exhibits quirks I've never
seen anywhere else. Alt say all has never worked, and JAWS 13 exhibits
a strange problem when doing heavy Internet work. It just gets slower
and slower, until I'm forced to either reload 10 (sometimes that doesn't
help) or reboot. Also, when sending a spreadsheet from Outlook 07, the
to field appears to be empty--I can't see what I just typed.

You can still use the old shortcuts, if you can remember them. They will
not
open menus as you go, but they will get you into each of the dialogs.

Font Alt+o then f separately

Judy,

I (and possibly others) have not responded to you, not because anything is
wrong with your E-Mail, but rather because we don't have any experience to
answer the question. It is basically considerate on a list to not respond to
a message with an "I don't know" response -- that clutters a list.

Try a different subject on your next posting to see if you catch more
interest in your question, and then if you don't get a reply, then I would
presume that anyone who knows the answer is ether not on this list, or is
currently not reading their mail.

In that case, try your question on some other lists where you may find
someone with that experience.

John,
How did you do it before, when you had menus? Use the same keystrokes.

Dave and Charles: your help was amazing, I might actually get my brief done
on time, but could I ask one final question? How do I put in a footnote
without using the ribbons? Thanks. John Fioravanti

John,

You can still use the old shortcuts, if you can remember them. They will
not
open menus as you go, but they will get you into each of the dialogs.

Font Alt+o then f separately
Paragraph: Alt+o, then p separately
Format: Alt+o, then a separately

Just pretend that you are still hearing the old menus.

Good afternoon: I am generally a word erfectuser; however, I'm preparing a
legal document which must be in word. Can someone tell me where I can find
the following in the ribbgon: (1) format; (2) font; ((3)paragraph). Once I
get to those I may be able to get where I need to go, but can't seem to
locate them. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Does anyone have experience in running Jaws remotely in a Vmware Viewer 6
(VDI) session? Does it work and are there any tips and tricks?

Thanks,

John

Hi David,

I am using Adobe Acrobat X pro. I don't like the new interface with the reduced menues. I couldn't locate the checkbox though! Any comment?

If you're having problems with adobe X try the following;

1, open adobe X,

2, press ctrl+k=preferences,

3, now press the letter "g"=general,

4, now tab and
Uncheck,
Enable Protected Mode at startup

Try this site It has instructions on how to access pdf docs with screen
readers.

www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/reader

Hope this will be of help.

The wizard came up the first time I went into a .PDF document and I went
through it.
I am not sure of some of the choices though.
I set what I thought was correct but it is still not reading anything.
Thanks.
Eric.

Look for a menu or ribbon referring to accessibility, and run the wizard. I
don't have Adobe X but there should be something similar.

Hello.

They have just upgraded me at work to Adobe Reader X from Adobe Reader
9.

Now when I load a document, I can't read anything.

When I do a down arrow it just says blank.

It is not an OCR thing since I could read the same document with Adobe
Reader 9.

Any ideas if there are particular settings under preferences that I
need
to set in order for me to be able to read .PDF documents?

I am using Jaws 12.1169.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Eric.
